We stopped here on our way through Ennis. It's a cute little shop with plenty of outdoor seating. Hubby and I shared the Gravelly and Cubano sandwiches. Both were delicious and filled with ingredients. They don't short you on anything here. They had no problem substituting or adding ingredients to our sandwiches. Hubby had a freshly brewed iced tea made right at the counter with tea leaves. He said it was awesome. The owner was very friendly. She had a bubbly personality and was also helpful by providing some other customers with local info. If you're a local yourself, you probably already know about this gem. Driving to Virginia City we stopped at Kalena's Tea and Sandwich shop in Ennis (gateway to Yellowstone). It's a small place where you order at the counter from a chalkboard menu. Service was limited but the young lady who waited on us was very sweet and even patiently listen to my grandson's tale of breaking his toe. Two in our party chose the daily special which was pulled BBQ pork on a hoagie roll topped with creamy cold slaw. The BBQ was a sweet tomato based sauce. It was declared really good but somewhat messy. I ordered a "grizzly", roast beef, grilled onions, pepper Jack cheese and tomato on grilled sourdough. It was delicious. Mom got a "gravely" which was a pastrami sandwich. This is a small establishment with outdoor tables and a small adjacent room with a few indoor tables. On this sunny but cool day most patrons were eating outdoors. We arrived just in time as it got very busy for a Wednesday. Great place for lunch! read more

Stopped in Ennis to stretch my legs and decided to walk the town. As I approached the end and crossed the street, I saw red umbrellas and picnic tables and sandwiches advertised. That was enough for me to stop in. Variety of a sandwich menu with paninis and custom sandwiches. I went for the Avalanche, essentially a Turkey, provolone, pesto combo. It came warm and just toasted and it was filling. Despite my best intentions to save one half for later, I ate the whole thing. At 1pm on a Thursday the place was busy. Very casual place on the main drag of Ennis with super cool and friendly staff! I got the special which is the Willie Good Sandwich, sweet bbq topped with cold slaw and dill pickles. The sandwich is good but quite messy with the cold slaw. My mom had the Grizzly which she liked except the tomato wasn't quite as ripe as she would have liked but it's only early June as of writing. Overall if I'm back in the area I'll try something new from Kalena's! read more

I can't say if it was good or not. We arrived at 8:45 am and walked down to the rest stop to wait for their opening at 9am. We wanted breakfast and sandwiches to go. No one opened up at 9. We waited. this is for Devon's, which is king of part of Kalena's. Fun little place run by Kalena's son and partner, I think. Little fuzzy on the details but anything on a stick has my attention. The cinnamon waffle on a stick was good, and I loved the warm butter and syrup. Little tip, when your done mix the 2 and it congeals into a nice little sweet goo. Little over priced for a regular thing, but I would stop by the next time I pass through to try the corn dog. read more

We stopped by one afternoon and the place was very busy, which is always a good sign. Kalena's has an awesome assortment of loose leaf teas as well as whole bean bags of Rams Head coffee out of Bozeman. We each ordered a hot panini sandwich and we're not disappointed. First off the tea, and sandwiches are off the charts, but most importantly, Kalena is absolutely amazing! We stopped by while road tripping the country and she was so accommodating to me using the WiFi for work, telling us all the awesome lakes and spots to go see, and even introducing us to some amazing people in town. Omg if we could give this place 10 stars we would! We popped in on a whim while driving through town. Our intentions were to go next door to her son's waffle shop, which we did, but stopped here too. People, you have to visit both! The sweetest, most kind family with high quality food. The kids raves about the sandwiches and waffles. "Best ever" I believe they said. The owner was so patient with our large group and was willing to customize our strange drink orders. She steeps her Chai tea in coffee guys! GENIUS! And her homemade cookies are out of this world. We were visiting Big Sky from North Carolina and it was so good that we went back to Ennius for a second time for sandwiches! Held up great for floating down the river. We were on a trip through the whole western United States we went through 6 different states for six weeks and this was by far our favorite café that we went to in our whole trip.
