I have the unfortunate luck to have been the prospective buyers on a place rep'd by Eric Rojas. He manipulated us to give him a Best and Last offer which he claimed to accept if we got it up to a specific number. We gave him that number, and then he turned around and used it to get more from ANOTHER prospective buyer. I know you can think all's fair in love and selling a house, but that was low down and unethical. There was boo-hooing about getting that one target number to avoid short sale for the sellers, but it was all malarky. It's difficult and stressful enough of a process without the lies. I hope the other buyers don't give in to bid more as well all know it's not worth it. read more

Terrible experience! A guy emails me after I requested more information on an apartment and says to call him direct. When I did, the phone got passed between three people before it got to him. That's after they answer the phone with just a "hello" and music blaring in the background. I thought I had the wrong phone number. We make an appointment to see the apartment for four days later. He says hell call me back in two days to confirm... I never got the phone call. I just assumed from the unprofessionalism that is wasn't going to happen. Then he calls an hour before the appointment to say he was given and advertised the wrong address and that its a different location but in the same area. Well the area was completely different and about a 20 minutes away from the first address I was given, in a less than good neighborhood. So when I told him it wouldn't work he says "okay" then hangs up. Now, every time I see an apartment listed from Kale Realty, I steer clear. Im pretty sure they give these jobs to anyone, and pay them on like a commission base. They probably have some great employees ready to help. But i'm not taking my chance again! read more

I purchased a condo through one of Kale Realty's agent in Chicago. The agent did a horrible job in everything. She was not representing my best interest and was always afraid to write the things I asked for to the seller's agent. At one point, the sale was not going to go through because of her and I had to tell her exactly what to do. That agent was not responsive when I needed to visit the property for inspections and was acting as if she is the buyer and I have to take care of her schedule. She also became completely unresponsive after the closing and did not even get me through to the seller to receive the key to my property, and I had to contact the seller's agent myself. I sent a complaint letter to Kale Realty and they did not do anything at all about it. It seems they don't provide any training to their agents or have a sound work or quality process. Highly NOT recommended. Use another company for your property purchases or rentals and always verify the history of the agent asking him for references from old clients. I will definitely tell what happened to anyone who contacts me asking about that Kale Realty unprofessional agent. read more

UPDATE: Cameron put the unit back on the market even though he took our money we put down to secure the unit! I'll definitely file a complaint! Found a listing the we are interested posted by CAMERON SUTTON from Kale Realty. Met him and he seemed UNPROFESSIONAL AND TRICKY. Later on, I found someone left him a bad review on Zillow but I was still questionable about that until I had a bad experiences with him personally. He went to the unit without bringing any information sheet (it would have been fine if he had known all the information and could provide us the CORRECT INFO) and he had 3 groups of people come to the unit at the same time (a total of about 10 people!!). When I asked about info, he said something but what is written in the lease is totally different. What's worst is that He FORCED US TO SIGN THE LEASE, which states that I have received all the appliances and/ fixtures in good, clean and operating condition, PRIOR TO THE WALK-THROUGH!!?? And if we don't sign the lease, he will put it back on the market even though we already put down the deposit! It took their side 4-5 DAYS TO SEND ME THE LEASE AND FORCED US TO RETUNR THE LEASE IN HALF A DAY?? I'm so speechless on how these people work... I would give him NEGATIVE star if I could! I REALLY HOPE THIS REVIEW WILL BE VIEWED AND READ BY TONS OF PEOPLE BEFORE THEY DECIDE TO DEAL WITH HIM SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE WILL NOT GET TRICKED BY HIM! read more

I used Kale to find my apartment and I really enjoyed working with them. I don't think they really function like an Apartment People kind of thing, where you're assigned an agent to assist you. really, you'll find the best listings on Craigslist through individual agents that know private landlords (like I live in the top floor of a house, and I could have never found that apartment without Kale). if you want/need a tour of the city, go with another agency. if you want GOOD apartments, find an agent that has alot of good properties. This company is a joke. I am renting from Kale reality and after I moved I was told that there is only ONE maintenance staff for 18 buildings they own. I have called several times to report maintenance issues and would not have a return call for several days. When you complain to the landlord Jeremy about these issues he would always say "it will be taking care of" but of course nothing happens. I have never experience such disorganized unprofessional business in my life. Please get it together!! read more

She was great our first conversation..then she told me shed call the next day .. never did. So i called her and after two days of her ignoring my calls and sending me to voicemail i called the main desk to have her call me back and when she finally did she had an ugly snotty short and rude attitude .. telling me she had nothing. We went to look at an apartment listed by this company, and after we saw the apartment that was listed, we were told that the apartment was already leased out and that the apartment we were seeing was 20% more expensive than what was on the for rent sign on the door. It seemed very much like a bait and switch, and to see that the apartment that was "just leased" to be advertised again 4 hours after we were told that it was not available. read more

We found a spot in Wicker Park for under $2000-- and it's dog-friendly so my daughter can bring her pug -- and we are happy to have her pets with her now! and out of the house! She went above and beyond to find me exactly what I was looking for- going and taking pictures and checking out the closest dog parks for my pet. She listened to my needs and answered every phone call and email within a few hours. The place I ended up renting is great. However, the property management company is not very agreeable which isn't her fault but it has made her work that much harder on my behalf. I've been in my new place over a month now and she is still involved to make sure I'm getting what should be included in my lease. Did not care for them as landlords of my building. Kale bought the building I was renting an apartment in. I think they did a very poor job of taking care of it. The previous landlord was on top of maintenance and keeping it clean. It seems the only time Kale would do anything was if someone complained. The hallway was painted, I'll give them that much. But they left painters tape on the railing and carpeting on the stairs, there were gouges and holes in the drywall that never got fixed, I think a couple small blood stains, and they did nothing to keep it clean. The firsts year I renewed my lease with them, they raised my rent $30 for a tiny one bedroom apartment which is a higher increase than I've ever paid anywhere. The second year they raised it $50. I decide after that I would be finding somewhere else to live. When I first informed them via telephone that I would not be renewing my lease, I had to leave a voicemail. I got no response. At no point did they ask about what they could do to get me to stay. I just never heard back about it. I then sent an email and still got no response. I also sent a note with my final rent payment, and again got no response, until I got a call from them about two weeks before I moved, saying they wanted to show my place while I was still in there and had my stuff in there. I checked my lease, and sure enough there was something they slipped in there saying they have a right to show it while I'm still there. I insisted on being home at the time because I didn't want strangers being in what was still my home with all my belongings in there, while I'm not there. I gave them my work schedule with a list of days and times I'd be available. I get a voice mail from Jeremy saying I need to be more cooperative and flexible with them. It's my work schedule! I returned his call explaining that I can't change my work schedule, but I never heard back from him again. Finally agreed on a day, through someone named Colin who was actually nice, and I'm told maybe 20 people will becoming to see my apartment that day. There were a total of 4 that saw it. They wanted to schedule another day for more people to see it, I gave them a couple more days, but never heard back before I moved out. Someone else went to see the place after I moved out, and was informed that the rent is now $75 more than what I was paying, and that 3 months rent were required up front. At this point, no work had been done to improve the apartment, or the hallway, so the person passed on it. They charge way too much for the places they rent and they seem very unprofessional to deal with. You'd be better off looking for a different realty company, I know I'd certainly not want to deal with them again. read more

I met Lori at an apartment building on Addison Avenue. Prior to showng me the apartment she asked me some preliminary questions about my income and credit. I was honest and provided my responses. I was invited to see the apartment I had inquired about listed to be on Addison Avenue. She and the landlord were present and showing me a small but cozy and cute apartment for $1,000 and I told them I would let them know my decision soon. Once I stepped outside the building I saw a for rent sign that read $900. I called Lori while I was standing outside of the building and told her that I would take it for the posted amount on the sign (that apparently the landlord placed in front of the building without telling her and she questioned while I was on the phone, saying, "I guess I'll have to honor that amount"). Anyhow, fast forward a couple of days I was informed by Lori that I did not qualify for the apartment because I missed the credit threshold by one point......ONE POINT! That didn't make any sense to me and that the landlord said he "could do better". After speaking to two other rental agents, they said that her answer did not make any sense. One even told me that Lori was probably upset because she missed making her commission, which is not my fault. I even asked is she could help me find a place......even after all of that. Her response on April 16 was, "I put in the request Thanks!" whatever that means. As of today, I have not heard from her.....joke. I met another agent and explained what happened with Lori and right away and in a matter of a day the agent presented me with several available units......no, he's not from Kale Realty, thank goodness. I went to their office on roosevelt to see if they could help me find an apartment . i spoke to the manager of that branch and he took down my information & details on what i wanted. later that day i get a call from another agent his name is Christopher Royal, asking for details again and what type of apartment. The next day he sends me an email of the listings that were in my price range and location, i eventually picked one that i liked and told him about it, then he says we should schedule a meeting to view the place. On the day of the meeting i called his number to find out where we are meeting, only to tell me that the placed is locked that he has been trying to contact the property owner. it has been 2 weeks and ever since that day i have been calling his number, left countless voicemail & emails and i still didn't get no response.i tried his number again for the last time and as usual no response, 10 seconds later i tried calling again with my google voice account. and what do u know RING! RING! RING! "HELLO THIS IS CHRISTOPHER ROYAL,HOW MAY I HELP YOU TODAY." smh what a dumb-ass. read more

If you would like your time wasted, please choose Kale. Showed up to an open house and no one was there. Tried calling these guys and no response, so we waited around for awhile. Finally after 20 minutes of continuous calling, we got a text saying the unit was rented. If you are having an open house, either stay the entire time or at least send a courtesy email saying that it was rented so that your prospective customers do not waste their time. I realize they must get a lot of showings, but please have some courtesy. I never got the chance to be a customer of Kale and I'll be sure to never become one of their customers. read more

CAREFUL! Do not schedule a showing with these people unless you are already going to the area that the showing is located. Colin agreed to meet me at a listing on Saturday at 11:00AM. I showed up to the building 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Colin never showed up, and after waiting until 11:15, I tried calling the number on the listing. It rang 4 times and went to his voicemail. I wasted a Saturday and $20 getting to the area. As I said, make sure you have other showings on a day that you are meeting with someone from Kale, or you will end up wasting an hour or two and your transportation costs. I would be embarrassed if my grandson was running my company in this fashion. Don't let the "family business" aspect of Kale get your hopes up. read more

I had an awesome time working with Kristin Bird. I contacted her about an apartment I had seen on Craigslist, and she worked with me to find a time that I could see it that fit in my schedule, even though the apartment was still undergoing renovations. She mentioned at the time that she had another apartment coming on the market that also fit my parameters and would keep me in mind...and she followed through! I got a call from her a few days later, and she let me see the second apartment before any other prospective clients. She said it was amazing, and she was not kidding - above and beyond any other places I had seen. I texted her at 10pm on a Saturday night to let her know that I wanted the place (she is seriously accomodating of crazy schedules!) and by the end of the week she had met me once to take my deposit, and another time to sit down with the landlord and sign the lease.
