A few hours ago, my slumlord Humberto Camancho and someone named Victor from Kale Realty showed up unannounced to my unit. They started banging in the door. I was just getting out of the shower, was undressed, and was in sight of Humberto and Victor while they were banging on the door. When they came in, they tried to shake me down for $100. It was pretty intimidating but I told them "I'd talk with my wife" and they left. Victor threatened me before he left about how I'm potentially making a big mistake by not giving him some money. I barely leave reviews on any business but this one was warranted. We thought we found our dream home but had the unfortunate fate of having our fully-executed contract cancelled after we had already completed home inspection, sewer scope and radon testing, totaling $1300. Our agent contacted the seller's agent from this group, Natalia Zulowski and received no insight on the cancellation "I have no clue" nor any intention to speak with our agent. New buyers please beware that there is a clause in the contract where a seller can disapprove a contract without any reason. In this instance, there was no ethical consideration in communication and reimbursement for cost of the home inspection, sewer scope and radon testing that we paid for and reports from these that they have access to. The requirements listed for apt rentals for properties managed by them in a particular property 2101 leavitt in chicago is misleading. the requirements were met per the listing details and then I was denied based on a seemingly frivolous point from the landlord. Credit score says 700 on the listing I met the requirement. This was misleading. I wouldn't have wasted $65 for credit report if I was going to knowingly be denied based on the whims of a property owner. RENTERS BEWARE!!! read more

My husband and I just spoke with an agent named Lefter Tasho and he was very rude and disrespectful. We are investors and we called regarding a property he has listed. I don't know if Mr Tasho was having a bad day but it is unacceptable to treat a potential client in that manner. He cursed, he words were condescending and it was like pulling teeth to get answers to our questions. Lefter Tasho gives realtors a bad name. Dealing with the public is clearing not his wheelhouse and he should consider another profession. I recently had the pleasure of working with real estate agent Vanessa Gonzalez. She has been in the real estate industry for quite some time and is very experienced. I know 2022 was not the ideal time to purchase a home, especially with the market being what it was for home buyers. I can tell you we looked at several homes. She was always available to show properties and had a very quick response time. She was extremely patient and always gave her professional opinion, the good and the bad. My family has worked with other agents in the past and many times those agents would highlight all the great things in the home but would not tell us of the things we should look out for. It felt like they were trying to get the sale. This was not at all my experience with Vanessa. I never felt rushed into putting an offer onto a home that I was on the fence about. Especially given that at the time many buyers were over bidding and homes were off the market within a couple of days. She always worked within my financial means and offered great advice on the value of homes and the best offer to submit (with her extensive knowledge she was on point every time) . Being a well-seasoned agent, she had great recommendations for home inspectors, mortgage lenders, real estate attorney, etc. I always felt like I was in the best hands throughout the whole process. Because of my great experience with her, I referred her to a family friend who was selling a home at the time. My friend only had great things to say about her as well, and was very impressed with her knowledgeability, professionalism, and honesty. If you like an agent that is: Professional Knowledgeable Experienced Proactive Reliable Available Patient You should ask for Vanessa Gonzalez. We worked with Horacio Tristan and everything was great. We'd been left in a tight spot when our tenants vacated unexpectedly (long story) and had only a month to find new tenants. He had people looking within a couple of days and had it narrowed down to a handful of good candidates within a week or two. He was communicative and responsible and saved us a lot of headache and lost rent. Work with Horacio if you get the chance. I recently got involved in the real estate multi-family rental market. After purchasing my first multi-family building, I attempted to obtain tenants on my own. After a few weeks of attracting undesirable tenants, I decided that I should seek out some professional assistance. Tristan was very knowledgeable, professional and reliable when it came to any questions and concerns that I had. This morning I got a call at home to see if I wanted to sell my house. The connection was bad and had to clarify who was calling. When checking the caller ID during the call, the ID was spoofed 'Cellular caller 666". When I figured out what the caller wanted, I told them that we are on the FCC Do Not Call list (like that really works) and I don't appreciate cold calls. When looking at the Realtor Code of Ethics, it seems they don't follow Articles 12-4, 13-10, and 13. I wish my experience was as positive as others. To me they totally did not have their stuff together. Found an apartment listed on Craigslist, however the address listed is that of their office, NOT the actual building. So that caused some confusion. I had to revisit the ad several times to tell THEM the listing ID just so they could track down which apartment I wanted to see. Then after texting ALL DAY about seeing this space, asking for the address and confirming an appointment. They tell the apartment has been rented and tried to show me a dump of a place nearby. Totally wasted my time. Why would you confirm an appointment BEFORE checking if the place is rented?? Or was I just told that upon arrival? Warning! The prices listed for units are NOT what they actually are. Kale Realty listed a 4bd 2bath on Ridge/Church in Evanston for $1,700 as of this morning (crazy low price if you know the area as I do). When I asked to see it I rec'd an email asking for my personal info and they did not respond to any of my questions about the actual property. Turns out the actual price is $2,580 (same unit but listed by Renturway). I took screenshots of both ads in case they try and claim this is not true. read more

I submitted in an email to have someone from the agency contact me. I was contacted by an agent by the name of Rachel Bell. She seemed to be enthusiastic to help me from the beginning. Even after she asked for my specifics and apartment price range on a few different emails, i still abliged and was optimistic. It started off with times that she would tell me she would email me listings, then she wouldnt, after a day of emailing her, she would finally respond. Her excuse was that she had email issues, then family issues. We finally narrowed down the list to 8 apartments that I was interested in. I explained to her in length that I live in Florida and would be visiting the chicago area during the last week of august, first week of september. she stated that she would get appointments ready for me to view listings on the thursday. a week before my trip, she stopped answering her emails and her phone. She picked up her phone once on a saturday before my trip and stated that she was out late and would call me back later because she was still sleep--never recieved a call back. I still came to chicago, the day i arrived (wednesday), i called her and left her a very detailed message about my dissappointment, she called me back stating that she was having family issues, i told her i would find another realtor, she stated that there was no need for that and she would set up appointments for me to view apartments that friday. She never called me during my whole week stay, and I sure wasnt waisting my time continuing to call her. This was very disappointing and upsetting experience. Shame on this company. read more

He has been harassing me via e-mail since I posted this and I guess he wants to take his inaccurate account of events to Yelp. And, by the way, Kale Realty has not been in business since 1951 - he filed an LLC for Kale Realty in 2007 - using his Grandfather's last name. So here goes my response to his comments... First, I will respond to the part that he posted in which he cut and pasted only a portion of an e-mail - that suited him - where I inquired who to ask for in his absence the day I would pick up the keys, what he failed to show you is that he actually responded to me with this: "Hi Hope Cool- Swing by 548 Roosevelt and then we'll head next door to meet Saul and get the keys. He works next to me See you tomorrow" But he never showed up and no one in the office had a clue about anything. Second, my agent Travis has no idea I am posting my opinion on Yelp. So your comments about his company encouraging me to post this further supports my bad opinion of you. That only leads me to believe that is something you would do?? Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to respond below to your numbered Yelp comments. ENJOY! It appears that you have a very selective memory. You can probably tell that I have not written many yelps ever - just the two times that I have had completely terrible experiences - have I posted to share with others who might need to know. Below is my response to the Yelp statements made: 1). The rent of 1.5 months was never mentioned to me until the 11th hour after ALL negotiations were finished. I was surprised when you asked because it was never part of the deal. First months rent and a security deposit/last months rent is standard course of business for rental. And I do consider 1.5 months to be "two months rent" because that would be the first two months I would be living in the unit. I only ended up sending the second month's rent because Travis begged me and I felt bad for the guy. I never asked to start the rent on the 15th, that was suggested to me by Travis (who was informed by you). My move date was very up in the air at that point so I was open and flexible to any suggestions. Posting the lease or information contained in the lease has nothing to do with this discussion so I'm not sure why that would even matter. 2). My first contact with you was actually January 8th. But that has nothing to do with what is going on here. I was communicating with you from the beginning through my agent Travis, who I trust. 3). Again, this is completely untrue. And you know this because I privately forwarded a message you sent to me (also see same message above) wherein you said you would be in the office. I did refer to paying the rent because I was unable to get the keys to my apartment without paying you. Of course I opposed to this through Travis and his exact words back to me after relying my message were "Nick is not having it" - meaning you were not willing to discuss my issues with having to pay the second's months' rent directly to your company and not my landlord, and prior to move in. I did not mail the second month's rent previously on purpose because I did not want you to have my money until I was forced to do so. Therefore I had no choice and corresponded appropriately as any professional would. I did get a great apartment at the appropriate market rate. Nothing more, nothing less. It was not because you did anything to make it happen, it was all Travis. Oh, and I did not get the keys a "few days early". I got the keys late morning on January 14th, the day before my lease started. So I got the keys about 12 hours early... I am not interested in taking down my Yelp because it is true. You were demanding and hard to deal with. Just the fact alone that you wouldn't allow me to speak with the owners puts you in "sleazy" territory. I own my condo in Boston and it took all of about 1 day to do all negotiations and sign the lease. And his agent suggested he call me and we all worked everything out together. Please let this go and hopefully you will learn to be nicer and more appreciative of others time and energy. Please do us both a favor and lose my e-mail address. read more

This review is specifically for realtor Kristin Bird as she was successful in finding me an amazing apartment. In the past, I've done apartment hunts on my own using craigslist, and it was a treat to be driven around to a range of apartments in different parts of the city. This also really helped since I was not familiar with various neighborhoods in Chicago. Kristin was AMAZING! We clearly stated our budget, and the key parts of an apartment (an outdoor space and gas stove at least!). She delivered. Initially I had a bad experience but after this review I spoke to the agent and apologized, explained his reasonings and sent me units that he thought I would like. I really appreciated that extra step he took! It shows good customer service. -------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. I found a great rental listing on Craigslist and responded to the ad. Someone contacted me back saying the unit was available but wanted to "help me on my apartment search" by having me answer questions. I didn't ask for help on my apartment search. I did ask if the unit was available and wanted to know what amenities were included In the rent and if I can view the unit. The person responds back that I will need to answer all the questions before scheduling to view the unit.... hmmm that weird. Why would I need to tell you my credit score before we schedule a viewing ? I respond back letting them know they never introduced themselves. If you work for an real estate agency it's good professionalism to respond with your name and an email signature but none was present. They respond that I contacted them and that they didn't contact me and that I should have introduced myself. They also let me know they won't be able to move forward without me giving them my credit score information..... I've seen many apartments without sharing my credit score. My opinion that KaleREALTY is competent and caring is due entirely to my experience with one of their agents, Kevin Mueller. He was an outstanding help to me as someone who is new to the city and very particular about what I was looking for in an apartment. My search had been going on for about a month, and I'd bounced from realtor to realtor UNTIL I finally, luckily, got in touch with Kevin. He actually found me the perfect apartment for the perfect price. I never would have found it myself, or even known it existed, were it not for Kevin. The other realtors I worked with who were told the same about what I was looking for didn't think to show me what is now my home. As a side note, he was never aggressive or pushy with me when I didn't like something. I've experienced something akin to bullying from desperate agents who just want to close on something with you and get their commission and move on to the next. When I told Kevin I didn't like something, he just said "Ok, let's keep looking" and found me more options. Kevin was a property manager for a while before moving into real estate and he also helped me ask the right questions of the landlord and even after the contract was signed and his commission locked in, he was offering me help finding the best cable/internet options and asked if I needed any assistance coordinating the move. I think he genuinely cares, and it shows in the kind of results he gets. read more

This agency seems to be professionally managed, but there is a lack of responsiveness from the agents in particular Mark Troutman. After paying an application fee through Smartmove and having an interview with the owner of a prospective rental property, I was never contacted although I was promised a definitive answer.
