So I bought my 1st used Harley and decided to swing by Kalbo's for some window shopping. Owner was very informative, helpful and extremely knowledgeable on Harley Davidson's. Gave me a warm and fuzzy on any questions I had. Gave me prices on tires, installation and handlebar swap. This shop has anything you need for custom motor work/honing, piston or head. This is a mom and shop type shop with 44 years for experience, that has a great reputation with quality work. Will be bringing my bike here any maintenance or performance upgrades. They do what they say, no bullshit They tore down into motor like I asked and showed me what was going on (good news and bad news) This is how it should be I also have a friend who showed up once with a flat tire as they were closing. Chris did a motor and tranny rebuild on my 41 FL some years back. It was a mostly original bike and the quality of the work was superb. They went thru everything with me after they tore it all down. She still runs like a sewing machine. Years later l took a 1978 FL With a side car in to them. The bike had a blown head and some other issues. I've been bringing my shovelhead to Kalbo's since the local HD dealer didn't have any mechanics knowledgeable enough to work on it - over 2 decades ago. A top end & some trans work and it's closing in on 100,000 miles. I confidently rode this 26 year-old bike all they way down US 66 to Santa Monica in '06, w/o as much as a hiccup - I truly believe that this is the best shop for old or new bikes. The owner's a straight shooter, and tells it like it is - may not be what you want to hear but, he really knows his stuff. The mechanics are the best around - you can't go wrong. ''total rebuild'' means you assume ALL responsibility..... an upper push rod seal leaking on the first ride, burnishing and ruining a brand new drag pipe, the cost of the tow back to the shop, and worse: losing the rear brake on the first ride getting a bike back after dropping $12k on it....terms like ''act of god'' are unacceptable, that's mind blowing........dodging responsibility for those issues by claiming a long hard test ride is something customers complain about paying for is weak, it's the shop's responsibility to ensure the bike is 100% PERFECT if their hands were in it or on it.......making a customer pay for a tow 50 miles back to the shop to correct their problems is horrible business practices....you got $12 fucking thousand dollars, you can afford to throw some time at a customer's bike to ensure it's SAFE, and it's dialed in....wtf.....and on top of it, arguing with the customer....i say if a person's burned out on the business, retire.... read more

These folks at Kalbo's get the job done and done right. Plus they clearly tell you what took place and possible other issues you might need to be aware of. I was also impressed when they found a broken wire when working on something else I had them work on, they addressed that issue as well. Now a I have a working speedo again! Unbelievable. Much different than going to Harley dealer where you almost need a VIN number for them to "try to understand" what the problem is. You can not go into a Harley dealer and describe the part you need, you have to have the EXACT part number for the EXACT model motorcycle.
