What an amazing surprise after a skydiving in Perris we were looking for a great meal. We could not find a good restaurant in Paris so we decide to drive to Riverside search in yelp see what was a best option and we found Kalaveras when we arrive. We saw the name change to Mariposa, but we wanna give it a tried , what a great surprise our Server Andres meet us in the door. Quickly took us to a VIP table. He explain the menu and did recommendations we try: the guacamole was amazing the corn really tasty and sweet for my main course. I try the shrimp enchiladas the best I ever had All the drinks were recommended by my Server. He did not disappointed I end up having five drinks, including my birthday drink shout out for Andres one of the best experience with service 10/10 . Thank you again. For a such a good dinner and a great experience for my birthday . See you guys soon

Kalaveras was pretty packed for a weekday lunch that wasn't their taco Tuesday special promotion. The interior is a loud but large dining area with interesting design, but overall had a lively atmosphere. We were waiting to order for about 15 minutes, but it was a busy day, so it made sense for the wait times. We got some water and eventually ordered our food. The carnitas and chicken tacos were good, but not what I would go out of my way for. The sweet potato fries were fine and had a sweetness to contrast with the salty. I would have to call ahead to pick up food for my next visit 30 minutes beforehand in the future, but maybe when I'm in the mood, I'll grab some food from here.

Today's visit here was in celebration of my son's birthday. The lovely Itzel was absolutely amazing in her service after a few drinks and just enjoying celebrating the food and drinks she was so thoughtful to gather the staff on shift and they all sang happy birthday .. I have visited two other locations and this Kalaveras is my third location. You must visit please be sure to check in with Itzel.

The Kalaveras brand has been expanding like crazy lately so I was interested to see what the hype was about. Once you walk in you're hit in the face with loud music. They're definitely going for the party vibe here. The space is pretty large and the walls are lined with booths that look down on everything. Thinking the emphasis would be on cocktails, I didn't have the highest expectations for the food. Thankfully I was completely wrong. I've only had the wet burrito and the Kali Burrito and they were both incredibly tasty. Not skimpy with the ingredients and full of flavor. The Kali Burrito nets you a side of black beans and some plantains. I really recommend that! Service has always been friendly, even when my dumb azz had to go back the next day because I left my credit card there....and looking at their box of credit cards left there I am FAR from the only one. This particular building on Spruce seems to be cursed as it's been a few different things already. Hopefully Kalaveras sticks. The vibe is pretty cool, the service is good and most importantly the food is excellent. Maybe not for everyone but give it a chance! Definitely recommended!

Made a reservation and was sat quickly. Loud environment with a vibrant energy of Latin music which is fun. A waiter brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Our drinks came out a little while after and we order guac to accompany the chips. When they brought out the chips and guac we started to eat it, but then realized the basket of chips had a bundle of lint/hair hanging off/in it. When we told a food runner he just said "oh" and then took the chips. (Wtf) After we ordered our food it all came out at random about a couple minutes apart versus all together. The burrito I had was more rice than meats or beans, and it didn't come customized how I asked for it. Finally after asking for the check it took around 20 minutes to get it sorted and pay for our meal. They also have a service charge added as a tip which is fine if the service was actually good. TLDR; THE FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND THE SERVICE IS TRASH. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MEDIOCRE FOOD AND A LONG WAIT WITH SERVICE CHARGE.

Had an amazing first time experience!!! Andre's was amazing with his service with the party!! Will be returning the food was amazing! Came for a birthday dinner and the birthday experience that they put on alone is worth coming back for!! The drinks were also worth the price!

Great vibes, lots of food options! Enjoyed the drink options, mango michelada was fire. Food was quick

Do not come here if you want to chat with friends. Music was ridiculously loud. Service from our waitress was great. Food on the other hand was just not it. Ordered the dragon roll. The entire roll was extremely greasy. Individual rolls fell apart, too spicy too eat. One roll, one miche, one agua fresca and one shot $70 (with gratuity added)

Stopped by while traveling through Riverside. Service was so friendly and attentive. Cool decor with skulls and art everywhere. We arrived just as the Sunday brunch buffet was ending but ordered off the regular menu. The buffet looked so good! We got fish tacos and carnitas tacos, both very simple but sooooo good! Tortillas tasted fresh made and melted in my mouth. Fish and carnitas cooked to perfection. Just bummed we don't live closer to come back. Just what we were looking for. Thank you!

I've driven past this location countless times and have always wanted to stop in but boy it sure does get busy! Today was the parking lot was mellow and I decided to stop in. 10/10 on drinks and service. Robert got me seated and made my first Margarita. I went for the La Guaverita and Carlos recommended the hibiscus margarita after. Both were absolutely wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of sweet drinks and these had a sweet taste but not overwhelmingly sweet. Their happy hour menu and daily specials are great! Can't wait to come back for the taco bar on Tuesday

I ordered the wrong thing here :( We came here for lunch on a week day and it was still a colorful fun atmosphere. Each eating area is colorfully decorated and there are screens through with music videos playing. I lost count of how many Bad Bunny videos played and we were happy! Service was slow at first, it seemed to take too long for someone to come by and take our drink order. But this was my first mistake. I went with a classic michelada. It was ok, just kind of boring compared to my husband's margarita flight. The flight came with four half size margaritas: jamaica, classic, mango and a spicier one. They were beautifully presented and tasted yummy. My next mistake was ordering the pepita salad. It was ok but again boring. I especially didn't care for the creamy dressing - it would have been much better with a vinaigrette or even just the salsa on the table with a squeeze of lime. Sometimes I need to not go with the healthy option and get what I really want. I should have ordered the enchiladas or taquitos - both were much tastier. My girls loved their quesabirria tacos and our daughter in law's sushi roll was gigantic and flavorful, she loved it. My husband ordered the taquitos and shared with me :) Service was friendly, and once our drink orders were taken, attentive. I would definitely come back here especially at night when I will bet it's more of a club like atmosphere- but still a family friendly restaurant.

Yes we accept any and all large parties for reservations

No they don't let you do reservations after a certain time I believe

Yelp or your business removed my question? We visited this location for the first time on Sat 5/14/22 and realized after we left our bill included a surcharge on top of the gratuity we added. No server or host told us of surcharge. Is this standard

They do this when a bill is over 200 I believe. I think it's only written on the receipt I could be wrong

Do they serve brunch/breakfast?

Yes they just started to

Is this spot kid friendly?

They dont have an age minimum, but they do play explicit music videos.

It's got a nice view, nice ambiance, good 90's-2000s music and then towards the end of the night some Bad Bunny and Spanish rock, It had comfortable seating options. We only came here for drinks and to watch the sunset. Our server was so kind, friendly, and patient (wish I got her name). My husband wasn't sure what he wanted and she offered a few suggestions that were pretty tasty. She also kept checking in on us even though we weren't ordering food. The night ended with us watching the fireworks from ONT field. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend trying.

I normally give credit where credit is due, but this restaurant completely ruined our Mother's Day…read morebrunch. We had a 1:00 PM reservation and were told after checking in that the wait would only be 20-30 minutes. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes and were then seated at a tiny table for six people with the sun directly hitting us the entire time. Our waitress greeted us with only one menu and said she didn't have any more. We asked about bottomless mimosas and she responded, "I don't know, I saw one person doing it but I don't think so." How does a server not know whether the restaurant offers bottomless mimosas? We ordered drinks almost immediately after being seated, but they didn't arrive until 2:10 PM. It is over an hour later , while tables seated after us already had theirs. The food service was even worse: 2:09 PM: only 1 out of 6 meals arrived No silverware or napkins were provided We had to ask another server, who placed loose forks and knives directly on the table and said he only had 3 napkins 2:30 pm only 2 more plates came out Another plate arrived later by 2:33pm while 2 people still had no food at all By the time my food arrived, the waffle was dry and stiff, and the "chicken and waffles" looked like one chicken strip cut into four tiny pieces. And was $22. My son's burger came out much later, and my husband's food didn't arrive until 2:50 PM which was another $22 dry chicken and waffle plate. At that point we asked for the manager because our entire Mother's Day brunch had been spent waiting while everyone ate separately. The manager seemed completely unconcerned and said someone would handle it only after my mom asked what was he planning on doing besides apologizing as we were still missing a plate. Meanwhile, our waitress barely checked on us unless we flagged her down ourselves. No refills, no silverware, no urgency, and constant "your food is coming in two seconds" excuses. The food itself was disappointing too. Chicken and waffle Portions were tiny, flavors were off, and even the horchata colada tasted nothing like horchata. This was actually our second bad experience here. We previously came for Taco Tuesday and experienced similar disorganization, but decided to give the restaurant another chance. Huge mistake. Parking is terrible, the waiting area is overcrowded, and the restaurant felt completely unprepared and understaffed for a holiday they should have planned for. But we were sitting waiting for a drink. I heard other waitresses freaking out telling people Dont Give Out lunch menus sad that they can't even handle brunch. Honestly, you're better off going somewhere like The Broken Yolk Cafe if you want decent brunch service and to actually enjoy your meal together. Sad that a place trying to present itself as high-end. If you're gonna boast about being the first rooftop in Rancho, your service and your food and your drinks better be good. Completely ruined our Mother's Day. We will never return! The 20% off a $220 bill was paid right back at the waitress tip which, if my family hadn't paid, I would've gave her nothing. Isn't your waitress supposed to see your table that one person has food for half an hour shouldn't she go back and ask shouldn't your waitress see if you have your drinks within 40 minutes shouldn't your waitress know what you serve there shouldn't your waitress check on her tables completely ridiculous. A single rose does not make up for horrible service. I included pictures with time stamps

I only realized there were different sizes and prices after I had already paid and was leaving. When I tried to ask about the price differences, my question was ignored, which made the situation feel intentional and left me feeling uncomfortable about the experience. The food was genuinely great, but clearer communication about options and pricing would make the experience much better for customers. No complaints there. BUT... there's something I saw that honestly threw me off. They bring curtido to the table in a jar (cool, no problem), but when we were done, I noticed they take whatever is left and dump it back into a big container in the back to reuse. That means it's basically being shared between multiple tables. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but that's just not sanitary. Once food hits a table, it shouldn't be going back into circulation. It kind of kills the vibe knowing you might be eating something that's been on someone else's table already. If they fixed that, this place would easily be a 4 or even 5 star spot. The food deserves it, but cleanliness matters too. Just being real.

I ordered the bandeja paisa, arepa con queso, and empanadas de carne, and every single dish was incredibly delicious. The arepa con queso was warm, soft, and packed with cheesy goodness. And the empanadas de carne? Crispy on the outside, savory and perfectly seasoned on the inside. Honestly, some of the best I've had. I also tried their maracuyá (passion fruit) juice, and when I say they give you a HUGE cup -- I mean humongous! On a sparsely traveled side street that separates the Target parking lot from the 91 freeway, is an attraction that will have you slamming on your brakes and craning your neck to see what the fuss is all about. The day we came, a Sunday afternoon, there were about 10 different, brightly colored trucks lined up along the curb, lights flashing, music blaring, and lines starting to form. You can park your car in the adjacent parking lot, there's plenty of room! Yes, this a very successful food truck according to Yelp. And by far the most patronized truck I saw that day. Inside the tiny galley kitchen are 4 hustling adults, including sweet Isabelle, the food ambassador of a husband and wife duo. I loved her enthusiasm and bright smile. At this point, I want to mention that Columbian taste buds are more finicky than many of their Central and South American brothers. So do not expect hot chile anything. Their palates prefer milder, not spicy foods, even though one of the sauces served with the empanadas was a garlicky, bright, herbal, oily sauce, not unlike the Argentinian chimichurri sauce. They call it aji (ah hē). I find it very addictive. Bandera Paisa - this is a combo plate that features a fat, Columbian chorizo (a non spicy sausage), a pile of moist shredded beef, a large strip of pork belly, white rice, Columbian red beans, a fried egg, avocado, and several pieces of fried sweet plantain. There is also one Cheese Arepa included. This dish can easily be shared by two and is a phenomenal deal and interesting taste adventure. Beef Arepa. This is basically a fried masa pocket substantially filled with their signature shredded beef, then topped with guacamole and white cheese. This is very similar to their beef empanadas, so I would encourage ordering one or the other, not both. It's big. Beef Empanadas (3). This is not your usual empanada. The generous beef filling is made from their sensational slow-cooked, flavorful shredded beef with a hint of corn and vegetables. The pastry is actually made of a coarse grained masa, formed into the traditional moon-shape, then deep-fried. It is heavier and far more filling than what I am accustomed to, but it has a chewy, coarse textured mouth appeal and rich flavor. One order is 3 empanadas. They offer an interesting variety of drinks, the most notable being their iced Columbian coffee (intensely rich, creamy, and sweetened) and a Passion Fruit Slushy that is an exotic fruity perfection. Both are pre-made and served out of a dispenser. Columbiana soda, plus other sodas and juices, are available in bottles and cans. The only downside is the seating. A few wooden tv trays and canvas folding chairs are set up on the uneven dirt adjacent to the sidewalk. It appears that using the sidewalk is off limits for seating. I loved their cute, vibrant Cuban music, but oftentimes it became overwhelming as it competed with another truck's equally loud Mexican music right next to them. That, and the seating, effectively convinced me that eating my food elsewhere was probably a better idea, even though sweet Isabelle was frequently checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our bill was really reasonable, considering the amount of food we had. It was approx. $42, and there was plenty to bring home for another day.
