Thank you for the Aloha! Immediately we felt welcomed! Ron was very patient with me, allowing me to play and question many ukes! He was very passionate and knowledgeable. He helped me accept that I can still get a good Koa uke if it wasn't specifically made on the island. Ron and his wife have not too many, and not too little of choices. I walked out with a well built Kumu Koa wood slim body concert uke. The sound is fabulous and quality. I highly recommend taking his lessons whether you are a local or not...he's an excellent kumu and "tunes" them to your ability.

My daughter and I go to every ukulele store we can when we travel and love talking with the shop owners. Kalaheo is one of our favorite experiences. They were engaging and exited to talk ukuleles and hand you every Ike in the shop to try. We fell in love with a Kauai Koa ukulele designed by The shop owners. Beautiful design - koa with abalone inlay, very well built, and great pop and sound with Aquila carbonblack strings. We brought it home with us and love it! Please go see them and you will feel their aloha and leave with a beautiful ukulele!!!

We stopped in here on our first day on the island to check it out since we were shopping and I'd…read morebeen thinking about upgrading my ukulele. We met Lucky and he was very helpful and friendly. He was patient and answered all my questions. He also let me try out several different ukuleles. I found out they were having a killer sale and they also would ship the instrument to my home back on the mainland. I told him I'd come back prior to our leaving the island. When I returned, Lucky was there as well as Sam, the owner and Lucky's dad. Sam was super cool as well. He answered more of my questions and showed me many options. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a tenor ukulele since my first one is a soprano. He was willing to honor the sale for the soprano ukuleles for the tenor I picked. I honestly feel I got an amazing deal for a beautiful instrument. I chose a ukulele with a Sitka spruce soundboard, ebony fretboard and bridge, gold pearl block inlays and around the head with the Kamoa diamond, walnut head and spalted maple backsides. It's gorgeous! He had several of the model I wanted, and we were able to get me the #1 edition of that model. I think he said only 12 had been made for the year. Score! They also took the time to lower the action on the fretboard so the strings were set closer. We jammed a little and then Sam and Lucky played for me as well. It was a really great experience! Shipping was super quick. My ukulele was delivered the day we got back! I love it! Thank you, Sam, Lucky and Kamoa!

Fast friendly service and a local business that loves music. They cut me a deal on a beautiful instrument, I've been smiling since I got it. Good quality Kauai instruments with a fair price. The ukulele I picked out was made of mango tree wood, came with a case, was #5 out of a small batch, sounds heavenly, and ran me only $200. Thanks again Sam

I am so glad I chose Dave to be my teacher because he is incredibly adept at adjusting to what the student needs, both short term and long term. Even though I had to step away from some hobbies after a year due to my work schedule, I am still grateful for all of the tools he equipped me with when I'm ready to pick up the bass again. He strikes the perfect balance of pushing and supporting which I value highly in a teacher. I highly recommend him as a teacher; you won't regret it!

He's friendly and easygoing, has deep experience, and really knows how to work with everyone from beginners to skilled players. He's also a bit of a music theory nerd and he'll start sneaking little bits of it in here and there to gently guide you down that path. Everyone I've referred to him shares my praise. Dave also has a wealth of knowledge about the evolution of electric bass styles and artists and you will eventually learn names like Wooten, Jamerson, Pastorious, Kaye, and their contributions to the music industry and art. One day, without warning him in advance, I started a lesson with "Talk to me about Sting's bass lines." He proceeded to deliver an excellent and completely hour-long off-the-cuff tour of Sting's evolution and artistry. I found Dave randomly when I wanted to learn to play the bass and was looking for a teacher near my office. I hit the jackpot.
