I took my car in to have my tires rotated, which should have been free since I purchased my tires at Kal Tire North Lethbridge. I was charged for the rotation, which i didn't question when I picked up my car, because I had forgotten it was supposed to be free. It wasn't until I filed my receipt that I saw on my original bill of purchase that rotations were free when tires were purchased at Kal Tire.
One tire was also "bouncy" so I checked the tire pressure. One tire was under-inflated but the others were fine, so I added air to it and it fixed the problem.
Also noticed that I was missing one hubcap. While I was pretty certain it was on my car when I picked it up, I hadn't done a walk around (in the dark) so wasn't sure if it had been put back on.
I called the location about the charge for the rotation and the missing hubcap. I asked if tire rotations were still included with the purchase of tire and when given an affirmative answer, I told Jamie that I had purchased my tires there but had been charged for the rotation. He asked me several times if I purchased my tires there before he realized that I had. He told me that it was a mistake and I could get a refund.
I asked about my hubcap, in case it had been left there. After a few minutes of checking, I was told that my hubcap wasn't there. No offer of anything nor an apology for any of the issues.
I went in two days later to get my refund. Afterwards, I asked Jamie what could be done about my missing hubcap. All I was told was that it wasn't there and that the bays get cleaned out each night. No offers of a solution, or anything.
A while later, when washing my vehicle, I noticed that there wasn't a single lug nut cover on the tire with the missing hubcap, so either the hubcap wasn't put back on or it was put on improperly, without the lug nut covers, so no wonder it didn't stay on.
At this point, I wrote to Customer Service at Kal Tire head office, who wrote back and let me know they were contacting the branch I dealt with to get the situation resolved. I did receive a phone call from Jamie, (he also called himself James) and was told that I would be receiving a replacement hubcap, free of charge, and that it would also be installed for free. He confirmed the car I drove and told me that I would be called when it came it in order to get this fixed.
That was on Dec 8. Not a single word from Kal Tire since then. I called back and spoke with Jamie on Jan 31. He didn't seem to recall about the hubcap and was checking on it. He told me that he needed to speak with his colleagues and that he would call me back on Feb 1. It is now Feb 8 and no phone call.
I wrote back to Customer Service on Feb 3 and was told that this issue was being escalated to the Regional Manager, and that I would hear back as soon as possible. I am still waiting.
Two months and no resolution in sight. The lack of communication is totally unacceptable as is not having my hubcap fixed in a timely manner. read more
