I have used this location in the past to repair a tire with a patch and I did not have an issue. They managed to fit me in on a weekday and the was under $50. This was just over a year ago. Today I visited again for a patch and they fit me in, however I was there for about 1.5 hrs so a longer wait than last time. The patch cost $55. While I understand there is inflation, this was not the biggest surprise of the day. The fellow helping me then said "When did you last have your brakes done." To which I replied, "last week." My front brakes. I was then told by him that my rear brakes were metal on metal with nothing remaining. (Which I knew as of last week they were at roughly 50%) They then presented me with an already printed off quote of $538 to get my rear brakes done then and there. They insisted they needed to get done and another desk attendant jumped in saying, "Don't drive down any hills/I hope you don't have to drive down any hills," I said that I would get them looked at this week and declined their quote. I was unimpressed with the scare tactic approach. Never have I encountered a mechanic or automobile servicer speaking in such a way, with a pre-printed quote. Usually, it is more of "here is the situation. Here are some options. Would you like a quote." At the same time as I was going through this, an elderly couple was at another desk next to me. I had overheard their attendant telling them they needed to go elsewhere for an alignment, purchase a new spare tire from their deal directly as this was their only option for purchasing one, and finally, that they also needed their brakes done. While overall the experience was professional, the scare tactics were not welcomed. After I went home and verified that my rear brakes were indeed, not metal on metal. In summation, they seem alright for tires, but please get second opinion on your other automobile needs before accepting their quotes. read more

My car CX-5 mazda had a flat tire the passenger back. So I decided to go kaltire since i hear they are good. However i was told my flat tire was so damaged with nails that i need to change it however i need to buy all the set to have my all tires running in same speed. It was crazy they offered me 800$-1000 quote for all set tires and im happy i told them that ill think about it and the next day i went to my mazda dealershop they only changed my flat tire. No other fees i only paid 300$. Worst in kaltire of this is I didn't get to see my tire they kept it. So i was with my spare tire all the way home until the dealership. I have a 2012 Fiat 500. I knew the brakes were due for a change (from the time of use, and from a visual inspection check at Canadian Tire from my last oil change on Jan 7, 2019), so I scheduled my appointment with Kal Tire and took my car in on Jan 11, 2019. Norman (I think that's his name) said I can leave my car there for the assessment, and they will call me back once they know. An hour went by, Norman gave me a call and let me informed me the condition of my car. He said my brakes were very run down, and surprisingly, the back brakes were more worn off than the front. He also stated the heat created from the worn-down brakes has damaged and ceased the calipers; therefore, all four of my calipers, rotors, and the brake pads all needed to replace. He said the total will be around $2,380. He stated calipers are especially expensive for Fiats. I asked for a discount, he said he could bring $200 down from the total. As I feel like I have no choice, I told him to go ahead and make an appointment for the following week (Jan 16). He told me they took all the parts out for inspection including the calipers, so it will take them about half an hour to put everything back. After I picked up my car, got the Work Order. I would like to state the Visual Inspection Form was not filled, on the back of the Work Order. As I felt it was pricey, and a bit surprised Canadian Tire did not mentioned anything about caliper damage in their inspection, I took my car in for a second opinion back at Canadian Tire. I told them my calipers were reported damage, so I requested a quote on how much it will cost me. Their inspector called me shortly and told me they could not find any damage to any of my calipers. They also said only my front brakes requires attention, as my back brakes still have 6 mm left.) I was a bit shocked by the difference between the two assessments, so I insisted Canadian Tire mechanics to double check again. They checked one last time and said they stand by their assessment: only front brake pads and rotors; back brakes do not need to replace; no calipers were damaged. Total cost: $416.26. I fully understand different companies has different standards, and sometimes these things are judgement call by the mechanics. I also understand cost should not always be the indicator of good service; however, the difference between the assessments by Kal Tire and Canadian Tire could not have been more different. How to explain that Norman told me the back brakes were more worn off than the front? How to explain Kal Tire quoted me to replace all my calipers (front and back) when my calipers were fully function-able (remember, Norman told me they took all the parts out and inspected my calipers)? I find this unacceptable, and, if I can make a bold statement, a fraud. read more

Kal Tire was a perfect example of what can be achieved when a business demonstrates a passion for customer service. Other business owners please take note. On two occasions I've driven over a nail and had a slow leak in my tire and both times I've taken my car here. They had me back up and running in less than 30 minutes, best part of it all? They did it for free! That's right, you got a hole in your tire and it can be plugged? Bring it here and there is a very good chance (so far i'm 2 for 2!) that they will patch it for free. This kind of service will not go unnoticed and sooner or later i'll need a new set of tires, i've already made my decision where I'll be shopping. Great Job Kal Tire! read more

I was feeling pretty defeated when I found my back tire hissing pretty loudly with air one night when I was on my way out. Luckily my handy dandy husband knew how to change my tire to the spare. I brought my car to this Kal Tire location the next day as I live in the area and am so glad I did! I called ahead to see if I needed to book an appointment and the guy on the phone said it wasn't necessary so to come any time. I got there around 5pm and Jake had pleasantly greeted me and took down some info and another guy came around to get the keys and start working on the plug and patch. The wait was a short 20 minutes. They have a little waiting area of about seven chairs or so but it's pretty comfortable! There's a tv with remote control (and volume!), cold/hot water, coffee, a popcorn maker with popped popcorn, and a few copies of today's 24 newspaper. Don't mind if I do. I'd definitely take my car here again if I ever need another patch and recommend to others. read more

A few years ago I was looking for a place to have my winter tires put on. I found the Kal Tire on Lougheed Highway. They are generally busy - probably because of the great service, however they quote a very accurate time giving you the opportunity to leave and return as they will text you when you're car is ready. I don't mind waiting around as their waiting area is comfortable. The customer service here is fantastic. They are knowledgeable, upbeat and professional. Another great visit today!!! read more

Careful while ordering tire chains! At first they only offer you one single option, not providing any detail at all. OK, placed them on order. Then after getting them, I found them very heavy (9.5 Kg). Found much lighter on Amazon (2.5 Kg), plus less than half the price. Trying to return the Kal Tire chains no more than two hours later after buying them, the store manager just shouted "no returns on chains!" and turned the back on me. Conclusion: I went to Kal Tire for trying helping the brick and mortar stores against Amazon, but they make it really hard! read more

What I found really refreshing was that minimal additional items were recommended, what was recommended was reasonable and not unexpected, and I stayed within my budget! Every time I come here I get treated terribly. I don't know why I decided to come back but I did unfortunately. I booked a week advance for an alignment. I show up 15 min before my appointment and they look curious at who is going to do my alignment. I let them deal with it all, go sit down and continue on with some work from my laptop. At least an hour goes by, I see my car outside in the same spot and ask how much do I owe them assuming it was finished... They hadn't even started! I ask them why they couldn't let me know it was going to be an hour before they even started at my 11am appt, I get a snooty one word response of yep? Ok! Keys back please. While other reviewers claim to have received free service, my experience was quite different, probably more typical, and a lot easier to believe. I went in with a flat that turned out to be un-repairable. However, I had to obtain a second opinion in order to trust that that the flat truly was beyond repair, because the folks at this Kal Tire location told me that all my tires were worn out and that I had to replace them all immediately. I knew enough about tires to know that this was false. When I mention that the tires had very recently been assessed as having roughly another year of life in them, they stuck to their story, explaining that winter was coming, as if my regular mechanic's year-to-live estimate was for a winterless climate. So I left wondering whether they were also lying about the flat being un-fixable. As it turns out, they were being truthful about that. But their efforts to make an unnecessary sale struck me as typical, let's-see-if-I-can't rip-this-guy-off stuff. Not a horror story, but a predictable disappointment. read more

Every time I get my tires changed, the next day my car gives a message that it can't sense the tire pressure. They tell it's because the tires that were removed were in the back of the vehicle. Well they're the ones that put the tires in the back, before setting up the sensors on the installed tires. Of course the vehicle is confused which sensors to check. And then it costs me another $100 per sensor to have replaced because some how there is always at least one bad sensor. At first I thought it was just the battery went dead in the sensor. But it's only 2 years old. Over the last four years I've had 6 sensors replaced. This happens every time for the last four years. Now I can't help but think the sensors are getting damaged when they swap out the tires. Today will be the last time I use Kaltire. Let's see if I have the same problem when I get another shop to install my summer tires. read more

The worst part was when he asked me to leave my keys on the front desk, then he handed them to the next customer!
