This place has an upstairs - but used for special functions or overflow. I like that in 2 weeks they will be sampling 8 95 pts or higher Halliday rated wines from Evans and Tate in the Margaret River with a 5 course dinner for $100 Aus I had a grilled eggplant lasagne, while the other members is my party ordered Thai beef salad, saki scallops and sirloin steak, and grilled calamari salad. The wild mushroom arancini was excellent as was the Mediterranean starter of baba ganoush, hummus, and pita. If you're close by - drop in for lunch or dinner.

The…read morerestaurant downstairs is spacious and suits either a dining pair, larger groups and even a party. If you're looking to have a function, there's also a function venue upstairs. What a great place for a function, particularly when there is no minimum spend. The Bored Monkey operates for breakfast on a Sunday, lunch from Friday-Sunday and dinner Tuesday-Sunday. They are soon to open a cocktail lounge upstairs with tapas to suit the early cocktail hour crowd. The decor is casual and the restaurant feels comfortable, with a varied crowd of differing ages. Staff are warm and friendly and service was extremely efficient. We would describe the menu as very approachable. All diners can find something that meets their taste. Whether it be a burger, steak, nachos, salad, pasta and meats, or something from their amazing range of seafood options, you will leave satisfied. There's some dishes that would suit those with dietary requirements and also a kids menu. Kids under 12 eat free! There's a lunch menu for $29.95 or $25 for seniors. This is very good value for two courses (main and dessert) with a glass of beer, house wine or soft drink. We really enjoyed the dinner menu, and feel that the food here is high quality. It would be categorised as modern Australian, featuring selections from the sea, grill and garden. On our visit, we had a few from each category. For entrees, we began with a few Sydney Rock oysters, sampling a few flavours, the natural Kilpatrick, lime, soy, ginger and eschallots. The oysters were so nice and creamy and it is hard to pick a favourite.   These were followed by the sake scallops, which were cooked perfectly - three Victoria Bay scallops sitting in their shell, cooked with garlic, negara sauce, soy sauce and shallots, the were full of flavour and we just wanted to keep going back in for that sauce.   We also shared the Skull island prawns, grilled and served in their butterflied half shell, they were flavoured with a mild kick of chilli oil, basil, flakes of salt and freshed herbs.   Other entrée / tapas style dishes for you to select from include arancini, tequila poppers, pork belly, zucchini flowers and haloumi, to name a few. For our mains, we decided to share the surf & turf which we chose Moreton bay bug as the seafood addition. A lovely piece of seafood beautifully cooked and flavoured, accompanying the A variety of wine from the right regions and good range of beer on offer including craft beer on tap, with one of our favorites stone and wood pacific ale. There are number of inviting cocktails with many classics listed and a couple of interesting twists including the lychee martini and the salted caramel espresso martini. We had a refreshing mojito to accompany our seafood selection.

Literally all of them, like some giant baby has been using them as toys and is jamming them all into one room of a huge Barbie play house for it's own infantile amusement. It doesn't make any sense, only, it totally does. The cafe is Seachange. and the reason it's so beloved by locals is three-fold: the servings are huge (no fleck of steak on a giant white plate here), they're happy to change absolutely anything on your order without any pissy whining or "No, the chef would kill me" type excuses, and the staff and management are unbelievably friendly. Wulf (sp?) made sure our group got a table inside to protect the little baby we had with us from the sun, and even though he was run off his feet stopped by the table a few times to drop jokes. I had the acai brekky bowl with banana and strawberry and bircher, at $15.90 it's the healthiest way to start the day while still feeling like you're eating ice cream. The Local with tons of bacon, eggs, and a potato rosti is also a winner, as is, oh, pretty much anything on the menu. When you're done, slop across the road and roll about on the beach like a walrus. Trust me, it's great.

The coffee ($3.80) is enjoyable (excellent latte art by the way!) and the view is simply perfect. I love coming here when catching up with friends. Their toasted Turkish sandwiches are still my favourite ($15 and a large portion). Nothing better than consistency and they have it here. Highly recommended!!

The descriptions of the food on the menu speak to me personally - Barbequed Duck with Stir-Fried Asian Greens, Thai Coconut Curry, Lime Milkshakes - as the stuff dreams are made of. The staff is purely young, good lookin' fellas. I want to love it; on an intellectual level, I do love it. But every time I go, the reality serves to disappoint. The settings are as ethereal and beautiful as they sound; just off frantic Mona Vale Road, the Buddha Belly does a remarkable job at maintaining tranquility no matter the traffic. But the food - always, always, always I am disappointed. The flavours are average; as my companion put it "It's nice. But you could eat just as well at Terrey Hills Tavern." The amount of pleasure that I derive from my slow-cooked Pork Belly is disproportionate to it's $30 price tag. My companion feels the same about her similarly-priced duck. Although beautifully presented, I am not impressed by the unnecessary use of a deep dish with a knife and fork - eating out is meant be enjoyable, not a task. The settings are beautiful; the service high-quality - if only the food was as good as everything else. Maybe a better choice for a coffee?

Quality/Quantity - If you like deep fried foods and beer, this is the place for you. Family box $82 - The calamari rings were my favorite. 3 pieces of fish, 4 prawns, 8 calamari rings, 4 oysters, chips, potato cakes, etc. All were fried well and lightly breaded, just the way I prefer. 2 sauces, which they claim were homemade...? The sweet chili sauce tasted the same as the ones I buy in a bottle. They also had tartar sauce. Lemon slices were large and fresh. Atmosphere - This place was not easy to find, in an alley and off to the side. Google maps had it in a slightly different location. Outdoor seating. Open 7 days a week from noon till 8pm. Service - Counter service. But there was a waiter, who was pretty good. Checked on us a few times, and got us everything we asked for. That said, it is a…read morepopular spot and with the restaurant being on the smaller end, it's best to make a reservation. We were lucky to secure a booking for 1:00P on the day of. Their menu is considered modern Australian with an Italian flair, which is an interesting fusion of cuisines. They have tapas, entrees (appetizer size), mains (larger portions) and sides, which can be shared amongst the table or paired with a main to make for a more filling meal. + GRILLED TASMANIAN OCTOPUS (A$28): The four of us shared this and it turned out to be a tantalizing appetizer! Three meaty tentacles and one flat piece were served on top of n'duja (spreadable pork sausage) with pipes of lime confit on the side. This was my first time having n'duja, which had a smoky flavor from Calabrian chilis that paired well with the grilled taste of the tender octopus. The lime brightened up the dish with citrusy notes. + SEAWEED PRAWN PILLOWS (A$22): While tasty, if I tasted these blindly, I probably wouldn't think of shrimp and seaweed being the two main ingredients. The shrimp and seaweed were finely minced and made into a batter which was then fried into a fritter. They were crispy and light with a soft mochi-like texture inside. Salt on the plate enhanced the flavor even more. + SNAPPER FILLET (A$44): The snapper was delicate, moist and had a wonderfully seared skin. It came topped with a few zucchini blossoms, but that was the extent of the dish, so I'd recommend ordering a side with this. It was placed on a pool of creamy white sauce (which may have incorporated Jerusalem artichoke as noted on the menu) and dollops of black garlic sauce came on top. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the black garlic which had a very earthy flavor that I found too strong and off-putting for the mild fish. The four of us shared a side of BROCCOLINI (A$14) which was a great pairing with all of our mains. It tasted super fresh since the stems still had a nice snap to them. They were simply tossed with extra virgin olive oil, sliced almonds and chili for a hint of heat. My dad enjoyed their spatchcocked chicken and my sister was happy with her sirloin steak. The steak was cooked more than the medium that she requested, but it was still delicious and had a zesty salsa verde. Overall, we had a lovely lunch here. Our meals were wholesome and I could tell that everything was fresh and of pristine quality. It's not fancy or Michelin starred or world renowned, but somehow it manages to find the perfect balance between beach casual and chic, while serving amazing food. We stumbled upon it and popped in for lunch after swearing we weren't hungry for a big lunch. Famous last words, right? We started with the caramel Ed garlic bread and piccolo burrata, both of which were amazing. I wanted to lick the plate but my husband gave me the side eye. Someone at the table next to us had the Prawn Salad, and it looked incredible, so we ordered that to split. The prawn salad is the best salad I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of salads. There were so many flavors and textures and mouthfeels - the creamy avocado, the crispy salty bacon, the sweet tender shrimp, the light oily vinaigrette, the warm salty halloumi. This is salad GOALS. It was so good that we just went ahead and ordered another entree - the grilled barramundi. It was also delicious, the fish was perfectly cooked, the asparagus was tender but firm, the potatoes were crispy but creamy, and the tang of the goat cheese and sweet roasted tomatoes really made something magic. It was temping to get dessert, but we did stop to check out the breakfast menu on our way out. Also - as a pregnant person, I was so thrilled to see a decent list of mocktails! The Passionfruit Fauxjito was really good and tasted like a true cocktail. This perfect little beach restaurant is so unassuming from the outside, but is worth the stop for the gorgeous views, attentive service, and amazing food!
