Welcome to Kainan Augusto, the most sosyal carinderia you will ever, EVER dine in. This was the former location of Cafe Juanita before they moved to a bigger venue a few blocks away. In fact, this carinderia already while Cafe Juanita was still at this spot (They just occupied a smaller space). I never did find out why Cafe Juanita, a pricey Pinoy joint, would undermine itself by opening a rather excellent carinderia beside it, but I never complained. Now that Augusto occupies the entire space, it really shines.
As a carinderia, the food is pretty good. It's a bit expensive, considering that Kapitolyo has real blue-collar carinderia inside it, but the portions are big and there's no beating that ambiance. It feels like you're dining in the house of a traditional but eccentric tito. It's gorgeous and cozy. You add good food to that, and you're all set. read more
