I wanted to grab some takeout and enjoy the warm night at my hotel. Picked this spot because it's right across from the mall I just visited.
The Good:
Almost everything on the menu is available for takeout.
You can even get sake to-go, which is a big plus in Canada, where alcohol is usually only sold at liquor stores.
I ordered the oden and sesame panna cotta--just something light and comforting after a long day. For the price, I was surprised by the quality and portion size--very decent!
Oden:
Comes with a big piece of fried tofu and what seemed like taro pudding?
The dashi (white turnip) was carefully prepared using an authentic technique to smooth out the edges.
The egg was unexpectedly sweet and had a nice texture--not dry at all.
The broth tasted very authentic, with traditional Japanese cooking techniques shining through.
Sesame Panna Cotta:
Rich, aromatic sesame flavor. I thought only black sesame could achieve this depth, but their white sesame was just as intense!
Perfectly balanced sweetness--so good, I wanted more!
This place is a must-visit if you're passing through Kelowna! Great takeout options, authentic flavors, and a surprising sake-to-go bonus. Would definitely return! read more
