Highly recommend! I was told this place was the best in the valley and I believe it. The owner is so kind and completed the job beautifully. I brought in my mother's 20+ year old beaded lace wedding dress that I plan to wear for my ceremony. It had a large orange stain and several small ones and we had no clue what from. I was a little nervous at first as they couldn't promise it would come out, but I am beyond pleased with the results. It took a little while (2 months) which was clear up front and so worth the wait. I have a leather jacket that was purchased on a trip to Italy decades ago. I wanted to have it conditioned, and had read many positive reviews of Kachina Cleaners. I brought my jacket in and the leather "officianado " took one look and explained the darker shading around the seams was glue. There was a potential that the cleaning/conditioning agents would probably darken the areas where the glue was. I'm so grateful that he was upfront and honest with what might happen. read more

i never ever use dry cleaning.. well, once in a blue moon. But last winter I loaned my heavy ski jacket to a homeless person and months later when I got it back it needed lots of attention! Kachina came to the rescue! Thanks so much! By the way, the homeless person refused to go to any of the shelters we found. So I was left with an either or situation. There's a reason why there is only 10 reviews. I am sadden to report, despite the friendliness of the establishment, the communication of the organization is poor and cost me 40 dollars more than the first quoted and anticipated price. I requested my 10 items be washed and folded. No more no less. This action was to cost me 9.75. When I arrived to pick them up, all 10 of my items were washed and pressed. When I asked why I wasn't phoned for permission, the older woman repeated several times, that they couldn't wash and fold because they were not "cotton". A lie. Items that were brought for cleaning included, a sweater, 2 pairs of workout pants, Pajama pants, a pajama shirt. Nothing sensitive that would require dry cleaning. The overall cost, after all was said and done was 47.50. I paid in full, despite my quoted price. I will most certainly not be returning. The fact that they are only open M-F is the cherry on top. I do not recommend this establishment. There are plenty in the surrounding area who follow directions and call you if a change in your requested service is anticipated. Kachina Dry Cleaners was recommending to me by a senior level banking friend of mine that has had his weekly dry cleaning done here for years and swears by them. This is an outstanding cleaners. Everything Kevin says about the older lady I feel is absolutely true. She really is the sweetest thing ever. I've been going here for a year and a half and even after trying another more convenient location for me, I keep coming back. My clothes are always perfectly crisp and ready to wear. Just 2 weeks ago, I went to put on one of my dressier shirts but noticed some sort of splatter stain down the left side of the shirt. I don't wear this shirt very often and in fact it had been over a year since Kachina had cleaned it. I was impressed that she took it back and cleaned it with very little grief. Kachina Dry Cleaners is the best in town! ...and the owner (Stella) is adorable! I've been bringing my dry cleaning to Kachina since 2005 when I moved to that part of town; today I don't live over there anymore but I still bring my clothes to Kachina. I have anything from Hugo Boss suits to a few button down shirts from Old-Navy and everything in between, and I trust Kachina with everything. Never once have they let me down! My shirts are always perfect, never missing a button and they even put collar stays in the collars. My pants have razor sharp creases and my sweaters look brand new! It pains me to write this review. I'm hurting. But, I must yelp the truth. Let's start with the positive because I want more than anything to feel good about Kachina Dry Cleaners. The location is good (40th st and Indian School) and I love the kitsch of their name and the sign. It's so old Arizona that I wanted so much to love them. The woman who (I think) owns the joint is SO SWEET. I just love her. She's always happy and you leave thinking that your clothes will be in the tenderest of care. I also have made up this story that she and her husband moved out here in 1950 and opened up this dry cleaners on the outskirts of Phoenix and her husband has passed away, but she carries on the business. (Understand that I've made all of that up in my head.) There are two OTHER women there though that are the most unpleasant creatures I've ever come into contact with. I've tried. Seriously. I've often pulled up, sat in the car and screwed up every bit of nice I had in my body to try and get them (especially one) to smile back. But, no. I get a downright grimace, no eye contact and barely an utterance. Oh, I've tried!!!! Plus, they always need at least three days. Then, they lost my clothes once. Someone ELSE had picked up my clothes. But, I kept going back because I just love the owner. So, I'm sorry, Kachina Dry Cleaners lady. I love you. And I want to support you. But, I can't. read more

I was referred to Kachina Dry Cleaners by the gang at Park Avenue DC (my regular dry cleaners) on Indian School Rd. What a sad experience! The lady at the counter was so rude that after I dropped off my "special" items a pair of newly purchased thermal drapery panels - I almost went back in and asked for them back. In hindsight, I should have followed my instincts! Since the items had to be "sent out" and were over two weeks in the processing - I called three days past the promised date to be screamed at by the lady who answered the telephone. She yelled, "did anyone call you?" When I replied "no" but the ETA was three days ago ...she slams down the telephone, returning 5 minutes later - saying, "yeah they're here" and hangs up! My husband picked the drape up the next day - the cost was twice what was quoted...the items were not pressed, still having the original wrinkles from the packaging AND they have glue-like spots all over them. These drapes were brand new and in perfect conditions sans the packaging wrinkles... The customer service staff is terrible - and the dry cleaning services are worse. Do not use this dry cleaner for anything that you don't mind throwing away! read more

Their service is atrocious. They are extremely rude and short. No, hi, hello, how can I help you? Our item was supposed to be finished on 11/26 (which makes no sense because that's Thanksgiving) and then we show up today to get the item, 4 days after it was supposedly going to be ready for pick up, and all they asked us was, "did someone call you?" Uh, no. It was supposed to be done 4 days ago and now it won't be ready till tomorrow. They've had the item a month now. Will be finding somewhere where they at least say hello. read more

I dropped off some polyester tradeshow tablecloths to get dry cleaned recently and my experience was a-ok! Service was not fantastic, but not bad either. The place seems a little outdated but hey, it got the job done! At first, they told me that it would take a couple of weeks because they had to send them away but then once they learned that I needed them sooner, they made it happen! The tablecloths look great! For 3 of them, it was $42. I am not sure if this is a good deal or not since I have never gotten something like this dry cleaned before. What I do know is that the first place I took them to wouldn't clean them, so they must require some special attention! I will be back again when they need another round of cleaning because it is right around the corner from where we live! read more

In late fall I took a table cloth to Kachina to find out what could be done to get it clean. The table cloth was woven for my Mother-in-law, who then did extensive cut work embroidery. The table cloth is over 100 years old. The honesty to help to deal with this problem has stayed with me. I was advised to take it home and how I could do the job. They could have taken the tablecloth in, charged me, and done the same job. Their honesty will keep me coming back. The tablecloth turned out perfect! My Daughter-in-law used it for her Thanksgiving table. My Daughter will have it on her Bride's Table for her wedding in July. An heirloom my family will be able to continue to use. Kachina came highly recommended but my experience was terrible. A new blazer and long coat were ruined. The iron was obviously too hot. I was willing to let them try an refurbish the blazer but the coat was beyond repair. A dress was pressed with the seems greater than an inch from where the actual seems were supposed to be. I was willing to get rid of three other items because they were old, but they were ruined too. I simply asked for a refund on the dress, coat and blazer. The manager's response was, "did you try it on?" These clothes are for professional purposes. They are not cheap junk for messing around or I wouldn't be there. Stunning! read more
