I took my 9 year old sister here today who was not interested in trying sushi, but knowing Japanese restaurants, they usually have other delicious things for kids to eat. Except they really didn't have anything delicious for kids to eat. Pros: The sushi tasted ok, fresh. They serve beer and wine here. It is a nice, intimate setting. The price for the sushi was pretty reasonable. Cons: Very limited menu. I guess I am spoiled by places like Sushi House, where they have tons of other Japanese foods to choose from, like Udon noodles, or Chicken Katsu. The dressing on the salad was seriously 1,000 Island. gross. what happened to traditional Ginger or Peanut dressing? I snagged a piece of my sister's teriyaki chicken, and it was really really dry. It was an appetizer and it cost $7.50, which I thought was pretty pricey since it didn't even come with rice. The sushi was also rolled up pretty loose and sloppy. I will probably not be back. Food is 2.5-star, Service is 2.0-sta, mainly because waitress is SO cheap on providing kimchee and other Korean free dishes during meal. They have provided decent food and service during my past visits, so I went there w my co-workers (six in total) during lunch. Three of us ordered Korean food and the other three ordered Japanese food. As lunches were brought out, this waitress brings out only one set of kimchee and few other free Korean dishes. Politely I asked if she can bring out another set of the dishes as there are six of us. Her reply, "only come for Korean food." Oh, okay.... With so many other lunch choices in the area, I'm not going back there. For this waitress being cheap on not giving out one extra set of kimchee, they've lost a repeat customer. read more

Can't say that I'm a fan of Kabuki. I have a real problem with business that close before their posted hours or at least will let you walk in the door, tell you they aren't serving food any more then change their mind. Top that off with the fact that you place your order for rolls and they can't prepare the cooked ones. All that BS aside, the sushi just wasn't that good. The rice was way too sweet, they were not rolled very tightly, and the spicy sauce was just spicy with no real flavor. They were so unfulfilling I found myself seeking other sustenance after eating my rolls. I might try Kabuki again when it is hours before closing time and I can eat in but I'll definitely hesitate following my experience there. read more

Came across Kabuki on a Saturday night when Izakaya was packed up (as usual). Needless to say, I'm very glad we did. We made a return visit this Saturday for a date night. The space inside is very intimate, which is great for a couple or a family of four, but I wouldn't recommend trying to seat a large group. The staff is relatively lax but very friendly and welcoming. The sushi quality is very good, I don't think as good as Izakaya but comparable to O'Sushi. I'm a big fan of the Canton roll. Frankly though, the best part of the menu are the Korean entrees. My fiancée got the bibimbap and I got the kalbi and soondubu combo. The soondubu and bibimbap are both serve in stone bowls which keeps the food nice and hot throughout the meal. It's ends up being a ton of food and the flavors are fantastic. The spice level was balanced too, sating both her more sensitive palate and my love for heat. The bibimbap has become her go-to for whenever we visit Kabuki, and I may end up alternating between sushi and the combo because they're both so enjoyable. read more

Kabuki constantly raises their prices to a point where the sushi is not worth it. I mean, their sushi is ok, but almost four dollars for a piece of mediocre salmon is not cool. And they charge an arm and a leg for any minor customization. For example, they up-charge two dollars to substitute smoked salmon instead of regular salmon in a Philadelphia roll, even though they are the same price on the menu. What makes it especially ridiculous is that a Philadelphia roll is traditionally made with smoked salmon anyway. So, on top of it, they don't even make certain rolls correctly. If people in the area really knew what quality sushi was like, they would not praise this place so much, and they wouldn't pay the exorbitant costs for mediocrity. read more

Absolutely APPALLED at my experience here and will post it everywhere I can. As someone who had been in the service industry for 10 years I have never ever experienced anything like this in MY LIFE. My mother was in the country from spending 2 years in Nicaragua and the first thing she wanted to eat was SUSHI! So off we went to Kabuki as we were in the area. We had a waitress who was very kind and accommodating and then after our sushi arrived we did not see her again. No Refills, no checking in on us; It was my mother and my two sons eating. I noticed the entire staff was sitting in the dining room eating family style and talking in chatting including our waitress. Being a former waitress I understood you eat when its slow and it being 2PM I understood her eating at this time so we did not flag her down or wave her down. After about 20 minutes we did wave her down and told her we would like more tea and to order their Bulgogi as well.After 30 mins our Bulgogi had still not arrived and when it did we asked her to box it. HERE COMES THE KICKER: the bill came and we had her split it down the middle. We both signed our credit cards and intended on leaving cash tips. After we signed our credit card slips another lady came over and STARTED ANALYZING IT. When i noticed her hovering over our table and looking at our Credit Card slip I said "we are leaving cash". She went away. My mother then pulled out her cash and put it on the table. The waitress THEN CAME OVER AND STARTED COUNTING THE CASH AT MY TABLE AND STARTED ASKING ME WHY THERE WAS ONLY 5$ THERE AND HOW UNACCEPTABLE IT WAS TO LEAVE SUCH A SMALL TIP. I told her I had yet to leave my tip and I worked in the business i understand how to tip and she KEPT SAYING WHY ARE YOU ONLY LEAVING 5$ HOW CAN YOU ONLY LEAVE 5$. I have never ever ever in my serving career or in my frequent dining out had a waiter/waitress every scrutinize my gratuity ( I ALWAYS LEAVE 25%) nor grab a signed check as we were still sitting at the table. SHE PROCEEDED TO ARGUE WITH ME FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN. I was fully intending on adding more cash to the tip but was too busy chatting with my mother IN SPANISH as I have not seen her in 2 years. I cannot help but wonder if we were racially profiled. I cannot imagine she would have asked my caucasian husband if 5$ WAS ALL THE TIP he was going to leave. I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE AGAIN. Completely and utterly unacceptable. read more

The last time I went there was the worst restaurant experience of this year hands down. My friends, family and I went there for dinner and not only was our server incompetent when she wouldn't answer questions about different Japanese adult beverages and snapped at us for simply asking, but when we tipped under 15% (still more than I would've personally tipped) she chuckled and had the audacity to ask us all if we were American. We all were caught off guard because we all are American. She then elaborated for us that in American we have to tip her 15%. I wish I would've got her name. I get having a bad day at work. After moving to Chicago 6 years ago and returning periodically to Canton to visit family, I'm impressed by the proliferation of ethnic restaurants here, and one of the more recent additions is Kabuki. I love the dual offerings of Japanese and Korean because they're my favorite and it's rare that I can get a sushi roll AND soon dubu chigae at the SAME TIME. This is very critical as Japanese food can never satisfy the spicy sweaty-faced cravings of the Korean palette. Kabuki has a limited Korean menu with some great deals - a kalbi, bulgoki or chicken teriyaki and soon dubu (spicy tofu stew) combo for about $13, and an extensive Japanese menu with a long list of sushi rolls. The Caterpillar Roll off the special rolls menu was good, and they have Kirin beer, the best compliment for rolls. If they added jajang myun and champong to the menu, we would never frequent another Asian restaurant in the Canton area. Don't be deterred by its strip-mall placement, the inside is quaint and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. read more

Best sushi in town. I'm from San Diego and this place tops a lot of sushi restaurants in Cali. The sushi chef is very proud of his work and puts a lot of thought, effort and perfection into each dish. The place is really small but the food is so damn good it doesn't matter. The cucumber salad is simple but has incredible flavor depth (as well as each roll I have tried). I love this place and highly recommend it. I love the portions here. I have always left feeling full and satisfied. Though Kabuki is known to be a japanese restaurant, they had a lot of korean entrees as well. For example, they had bento boxes with bulgogi which is the first I've seen. They also have the best dolsot bibimbab that i've ever tasted. Unlike other korean places, the temperature was hot enough to scorch the rice on the bottom just how I like it. It even came out with a wood covering to ensure it's hot temperature. First, it's not the same Kabuki franchise that you see in LA or Vegas. The logo and even the font looks the same, but it's not! The sushi was okay, having eaten sushi Sugarfish in Santa Monica and KazuNori in DTLA. Or even comparing to Kabuki in LA or Vegas, the sushi was just okay. I ate there on a Monday night, 40 minutes prior to closing, and the place was a little busy. Ordered a Philly and a spicy roll just to try it out, and since the sushi was just okay in my opinion, I just settled for those two and got desert somewhere else. Korean and Japanese food that really hits the spot! The menu's selection is very complete for both Japanese and Korean items. The seafood is quite fresh, and the entrees are very consistent. I really like the combo options (I usually get the kalbi and soon tubu combo), as the portions are big and I get more variety. My one complaint is that the banchan (side dishes) are not good. I rarely meet a kimchi I don't care for, but here it is... The service is friendly and efficient. I have and will continue to come here quite regularly. read more

Great food and excellent customer service! My daughter and I came for dinner. Our food was fresh and very tasty. When it came time to pay, I realized that I left my wallet in my work bag and didn't have a way to pay. Our server, Jean, offered to cover my bill until I could return with the money. Who does that anymore?!? I was grateful for her offer and while I was able to obtain the info to pay my bill, I really appreciated her offer to help me in an unusual situation. Fishes are fresh and rices are so yummy. And recently, they have launched new sushi rolls like 696 rolls. American beers such as Budwiser and Miller are also being prepared for customers.
