Gluten free and halal??? Awesome!
Jacqueline F.

I wanted to like this more than I did. The food was good and I got the spicy sauce, but it was spice and not flavor. I was expecting the sauce to have something like a harissa flavor, a bold sharp flavor, however, it didn't have that. I have to say that the gluten-free pita/bread was the best I've ever tasted. The chicken was cooked well but the chunks were bigger than I expected. And this filled me up for sure, I just wish that I had a better flavor as it was doing so. The truck took a while to get the food together and that's not a problem. But after such a wait, the food was a disappointment. The fact that the best thing I had was the gluten free flat bread is not good. They need a sauce with flavor and heat. That would elevate the experience a great deal for me.

Chicken kebab rice bowl with add-on of french fries.

I highly recommend this place, especially on Fridays and Sundays when they are at the Presidio tunnel tops park. I love their chicken kebab. It's tender and juicy. I highly recommend adding the fries. Add onto your rice bowls. And don't be scared spicy tzatziki is not that spicy

Excellent food, very filling, very fast service, and super convenient. Hoping they come back to my office again so we can try the other menu options.

Beef/lamb gyrrito

This review is for the mobile food truck for Kabob Trolley, as they do not have a brick and mortar restaurant, nor a regular fixed location for their food truck. Rather they serve up their Mediterranean and halal specialties throughout the SF bay area, including Alameda county. I've visited Kabob Trolley two years in a row at SF's annual Comedy Day event in Golden Gate Park, and was there just this past weekend.  The food here is pretty good. They stuff their gyros and gyrritos with beef/lamb, veggies, and all the fixings, so you can barely hold it together while you eat. Yes, I have to use a fork and knife while eating the gyro, to avoid spilling the ingredients all over. But it's a good problem to have, as there's plenty of toppings to fill you up, so much flavor, and everything tastes fresh, with a warm fluffy pita bun holding it together. The staff here is friendly, and the service is reliable and efficient overall. There's nothing that really stands out from other similar restaurants or food trucks (besides the enormous portions for the filling), but there's a lot to like about this place.

Date: 9/10/2022 Time: 2:00 PM 72° Overcast The weather has cooled down to a temperature that I am comfortable. The Kabob Trolley food truck was at the Lake Merritt BART's 50th anniversary celebration. There were at least four food trucks at this event. I wanted something quick to eat and the shortest line was this one. The three sliders at $13.00 (excluding tax) were what I ordered. Wow! The service was quick for them. In less than five minutes, my sliders were ready for consumption. They were filling, quite good and loaded with plenty of grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickle and topped with a white sauce. Value of the sliders: good. Enough to feed two people with small appetite. The next time I see this food truck I will be ordering falafel and their rice bowl. Rating: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

They do catering too.

Quick service food truck. They were in Alameda's Off the Grid today (Saturday), so I ordered their 3 sliders with chicken kabob as my choice of protein ($13). You can also get falafel or gyro meat inside, but you can't combine or do a mix and match for the 3 sliders. I was told only 1 choice of protein for that order. The sliders came with melted cheese, iceberg lettuce, onion, and tomato, on egg buns. The chicken kabob was not dry and there were about 2 kabob pieces in each of the 3 sliders. I'd be curious to try their other dishes the next time I run into them, as prices are reasonable.

Hella fries with falafel

I saw them in a group of food trucks on the Presidio Tunnel Tops, so I decided to order the hella fries with falafel, regular tzatziki sauce. They have other options such as in a wrap or with rice, although it looks like from the menu, the stuff inside would still be pretty much the same. The fries themselves are pretty good, seasoned and crispy. The falafels were also nice, crispy on the outside and they gave me 4 of them total, which mostly were stuck together. The salad part, containing lettuce, tomato, and cabbage, was the plainest and least interesting to me. There were only a few pieces of fried green beans and I thought the onions could've been grilled more. Next time I would probably opt for hummus instead of tzatziki sauce since I find the tzatziki doesn't add much in flavor (though they have a spicy version available as well). I did think the quantity was alright, taking into account high prices for food truck food.

Hella Fries and pressed juice

Went to the Summer Bash at SF Moma and Kabob Trolley was one of the off the grid food trucks. We had the hella fries and their fresh juice drink. They take orders, make orders, give out orders, and then take more orders. The hella fries had a choice of protein. They ran out of chicken, not that I would have ordered the chicken. The seasoned meat was lamb & beef, over skinny French fries, with grilled onions, chopped lettuce, tomato, peppers, & cucumbers with sauce. Great appetizer or snack. Great to try out. It's good but I would probably look for other options. Juice was original and had lots of flavors. I would have preferred something more thirst quenching and colder.

These Gyros are fire!! If you have not been adventurous or haven't had decent Afghan food, trust me when I say you need to try this place! The Pita bread is so soft, the meat is cooked perfectly that it melts in your mouth. The spicy sauce is a must try! My kids love it and they are starting to eat spicy. It's all put together deliciously. Super friendly staff and so humble. He remembered us from a month ago and thanked us for coming back! Please support local vendors!

Beef/lamb gyro wrap

I had the beef and lamb gyro wrap with spicy tatziki and it was amazing. They did not skimp on the meat, veg, or sauce. The spicy tatziki had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy. Just the perfect flavor combo!

Lamb Gyro Pita

I ordered the beef/lamb gyro wrap and it was absolutely delicious. The tender meat, fresh vegetables, and flavorful sauce created a mouthwatering combination. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

Sliders: i got 1 of each

Chicken kabob is so flavorful - love their healthier food options. Their Falafels are to die for, haven't had a falafel that can beat theirs. Cant go wrong with ordering chicken over rice or their sliders. Or better yet get a plate & a slider ;-) Go spicy tzatziki

Sliders 3 for $11

Not super fast, but what food truck is super fast? And ypu can't rush quality can you? The food, not a bad value but not the best either. The food i had was totally delicious. I would definitely go back for more. I had 3 of the 4 sliders, tri tip, gyro and chicken. The chicken was the best. The sliders seem to take longer than everything else.

I came in this past Saturday (in the rain and recovering from surgery) because I just needed to be at my favorite restaurant. The moment we walked in, they greeted us warmly and still remembered us, even though we hadn't been in for about three years. That kind of care means everything. The food is unmatched. The lamb is incredible. The potato appetizer with the meat sauce is our all-time favorite. The shrimp on the combination skewers are huge and full of flavor. The warm bread and perfectly cooked rice make every meal feel comforting and special. The service is amazing, the family who owns it is so kind, and the whole place has a welcoming, homey vibe. There is no Afghan food around here that compares. This will always be our favorite spot for special occasions. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out.

Dear Se7enbuds Owner,…read more Congratulations on your restaurant! It has so much potential, and I can see the care and effort behind the scenes. I truly wish you the best of luck in growing your business. As a former restaurateur (I won't claim to be an expert!), I'd love to offer a few friendly suggestions that I believe could make a big difference in customer experience--and potentially increase your traffic significantly: Add greens to your plates. Right now, most dishes are heavy on carbs and meat, but light on vegetables. This can make the plates feel a bit dry or unbalanced. Just a small portion of boiled green beans or another fresh vegetable would elevate the dish. Balance bread and carbs. If a plate already includes rice or fries, a single small piece of bread--ideally placed next to the meat--is more than enough. Tikka portion size. The meat in your tikka plates is cut very small, which might leave some customers feeling shortchanged--especially at a $20 average price point. A more generous portion (6-8 oz) with slightly larger cuts would feel more satisfying. Add sauce to meat dishes. Your green sauce is great, but not everyone knows to ask for it. Consider serving it automatically or offering another complementary sauce with meat dishes. Soup improvement. Simply serving a small piece of bread with your soups would make a great addition and enhance the overall value. Salad pricing. The Shirazi and green salads are quite small, so pricing them at $5.00 instead of $7.50 would likely encourage more people (like me!) to order them regularly. Torshi and cabbage pricing. Reducing these sides to $4.00 each would make them more appealing as regular add-ons. I share this feedback in the spirit of support--I really want to see Se7enbuds thrive. You're off to a strong start! Warm regards

Oh, they also have self-serve tea stations (a choice of green tea or black tea), which is a perfect end to the meal. The restaurant itself is clean and open, and the service is warm and friendly. We, Afghans, are known to be hospitable and welcoming, and this restaurant really embodies that. Anyone who walked through the entrance was deemed family. Perfect char, juicy meat, and great texture on the patty. I also really enjoyed the potato bolani. Crispy bread and creamy potato. Huge portion. What's not to love! Had free chutney at the table. They were a little disorganized, but the decor and vibes were very homey. Their portions are fairly large, and overall the food was pretty decent, although not all of the dishes were my cup of tea I will say. This was my first time having Afghanan cuisine, so take what I say here in my review with a grain of salt. I rounded up because the food was pretty tasty and filling, but wasn't super impressed by the overall experience. So, to me, flavor and quality of the food is more important than the overall experience with the staff and vibes of the space. I would have given a 3.5/5 if I could. Food: 4/5 A friend mentioned that this is his family's go to spot for some of the most authentic Afghan food, so this is what I am basing the rest of this review on. We ordered Triple Kabob Murgh, Teka and Chaplee Kabob, Quabili Pallow, Mantu, Aushak, Sabzi Challow, Kado Borani, and Doogh. The kabob meats were all seasoned differently and were very tender, but everything else had a very similar palate to each other. Everything was fairly tasty, and the lamb wasn't too gamey, which I appreciated. If you try the Doogh yogurt drink, know that it is sour and an acquired taste, my friends said it wasn't good until they ate some food along side it. Staff/Space: 3.5/5 The staff wasn't the most friendly nor did they really come to check on us. The guy just took the order and brought our order and that was the only real interactions we had with the staff. The space in general was super homey and very much set for cozy family vibes. There is a decent amount of space inside and outside to accommodate for various party sizes. There is only street parking, which is not super convenient.

The rice is cooked well. The bolani can be prepared with either leeks or potatoes (or ask for a combo!) and are served with a cream dipping sauce.
