Great service! Carlos, Kaitlen and the rest of the staff were very helpful. They went above and beyond to meet my needs.

We thought we tried everything with our very anxious and reactive rescue. We couldn't leave the front door without fear of him lunging at something. I did some research and found K9HS! After some lessons with Carlos, we decided it was time for the pups to try school. He worked with us, making sure to keep our pups together to make it as comfortable as possible. We're a few months into school (and nightly homework) and last night we took our first successful walk with zero reactions! Most importantly, training with K9HS has let our little guy get more comfortable in his body and mind. He is more confident and it shows in so many ways. And our other dog, who is 12, is the happiest and most active she's ever been! read more

We can't say enough about K9HS. I don't know what we would have done without Carlos and his team. Last year we rescued a German shepherd/ healer puppy and we thought we would be fine because we had always had big dogs before. But we were very wrong. With the crew at K9 - they held our hands (and still do ) the whole way through his first year. And honestly - they turned what could have been an extremely difficult dog in to a total family dog. We continue to do pack walks and those are excellent as well. Our dog is extremely well trained (although still an occasional impulsive puppy). The time and training that we put in him has already and will continue to pay off. A quote I heard once was don't invest in the breed , invest in the training. And it couldn't be more true with K9HS. read more

Carlos and his team helped us completely transform our little rescue pup Lilac. Our sweet pup is a very anxious, reactive and scared dog who we guess was not socialized as a puppy. After going through many different training programs, it was difficult for us to take Lilac on walks without her having a ton of leash reactivity and we were often nervous to have her meet new people. The idea of her meeting or hanging out with another dog was out of the question. We saw K9HS vans around our neighborhood and soon had 1-1 sessions scheduled with Carlos. We saw some improvements but when Carlos suggested we try joining the school program, we were nervous but optimistic. 6 months later, Lilac has transformed and has become the confident, social dog we always knew she could be. She's not only made dog and human friends in the program, but we've introduced her to friends dogs, have taken her on hikes and strolls around parks, and she was the center of attention at my recent bridal shower with 25 people. Lilac wouldn't be living her best life if it wasn't for Carlos and his incredible team. They are patient, kind, and take the time to learn about your dog's needs. I always know Lilac is in good hands during her days at school and I love the picture and video updates. The whole team is professional, knowledgeable, and dedicated to providing the best care and training for your dog. Not to mention, they truly love and care for your pup. Carlos truly goes the extra mile and I feel confident we are able to maintain Lilac's development due to the skillset and training the team has given us. We no longer feel scared or anxious when going out in public with Lilac. K9HS completely exceeded my expectations and I would recommend any service and the entire team to anyone. We can't thank the whole team enough for their time dedicated to our Lilac. It's truly meant the world to see our dog thrive under their guidance and care. read more

Carlos and his team are exceptional. He's incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior and uses effective, positive reinforcement methods. From day one, we felt confident our pup was in good hands. Each week, we saw real progress, and the guidance we received was practical and easy to follow. Any time we faced a behavioral issue, Carlos addressed it promptly and took the time to work with us one-on-one. He's always open to questions and genuinely wants to help his clients succeed. It's clear he's passionate about what he does--and it shows. We wholeheartedly recommend his academy! With Love, Ellie & Fam read more

After my wife and I adopted our dog Honey, we quickly realized she was under socialized and was anxious/reactive around other dogs and humans. We've been working with K9HS for about 4 months now (both via private sessions, day school, and group classes) and it's been a game changer. Although Honey is not perfect, her reactivity has significantly improved and we feel good about the direction we're moving in under the guidance of Carlos and his team. Carlos is extremely knowledgeable and the tools he has provided us has really helped us better understand our pup. We love their day school program. The team is so kind and patient with Honey and we have full confidence our girl is in the best of hands everytime they pick her up for school. Honey is able to get in the socialization she needs while learning and exercising. Overall, we'd highly recommend K9HS and are so happy we gave them a try. We can't wait to keep seeing the progress Honey makes over the next few months. Special shout out to Carlos, Candace and Natalie for all your help! It is so appreciated! read more

K9HS is an amazing training experience! We worked with Carlos for our private training sessions and he was wonderful because of his patience, knowledge and encouragement! Carlos and his team are beyond amazing. About a year and a half ago, my partner and I like everyone else during the pandemic, decided to adopt a puppy. We had no idea what we were doing and clearly our baby Lucy was picking up on that energy. Chaos to say the least. I had called a few trainers, but it immediately clicked with Carlos. Our Lucy acted like a human baby girl and didn't know how to act like a baby dog! She was extremely hyperactive and it was difficult to keep her calm. We started sending her to school and with the consistency, our Lucy is now a happy go lucky young lady, still a little hyper but because she is a pug. #puglyfe Through gaining control of handling Lucy, we've felt comfortable in adopting another pup. Since we diligently attended the group classes and got vital pointers from Carlos and team, we gained way more knowledge around handling our pups. We now have a puppy that recently graduated from puppy school named Maxxie. Since we were so well equipped from the classes and sessions, it's been much more smooth with setting boundaries and managing our Maxxie especially now as he's hitting his pterodactyl adolescence! We wouldnt be where we are as a family if it weren't for Carlos and his team! Thank you Carlos, Kristie, Guillermo, Natalie, Jeanette, Amy and Team for everything that you do!! You'll always be an extension of our family! read more

Carlos helped our family with our shepherd rescue Rex and our silver lab. Rex began showing signs of aggression and Carlos gave us the tools to help him. Rex is now living his best life, we go on walks that are reactive free. Millie passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test when she was 14 months and we still use K9HS for daycare when we travel and can't take her with us. Rex stays with family because it is less stressful for him. What we learned from Carlos is that many dogs do not actually do well in social settings and socialization looks different in different dogs. He helped us understand dog behavior and be able to read the signs of when a dog is feeling anxious. I love his approach of trainer, family, and group training-a trifecta for success! read more

In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, we adopted a two-year-old Cavalier-Sheltie mix called River. Even though we rescued her as a stray, we realized that it was she who rescued us from despair and the doldrums of quarantine. Being first-time dog owners, we had no idea what to expect or what to do. She was pretty easy going for the first month, but her true stubborn personality started coming through as she settled at her new home. She's training us how to cater to her every whim. Then Carlos showed up to teach us how to be empathetic owners by understanding dog psychology. He never condones using force or shortcut tools to train your dog. Instead, his training method relies on communicating and understanding your dog to create a collaborative partnership. It's not quick and easy, but it establishes a trusting relationship that lasts a lifetime. Being a pediatrician myself, many of his strategies are similar to ways to parent an infant or toddler. You would never physically hurt your child, and you should never consider using a shock collar or such barbaric device to discipline your dog. We worked with a few dog trainers before meeting Carlos, and he is by far the most experienced and humane whisperer we've come across. Due to the restriction of social-distancing, we attended classes via Zoom, but his clear explanation and application of the techniques to each specific situation offer practical solutions that can be applied immediately to your dog. We have not completed his entire 12-week curriculum yet, but we have already gained a wealth of knowledge and applied it to our everyday interaction with River. If you ever need an empathetic, experienced trainer who invests the time to really know your dog, Carlos is your man. read more

We love Carlos, Doriam, Jeanette, and everyone a K9HS! A couple of years ago our dog, Chili, developed some fear-based issues with some, not all, dogs in certain situations and we weren't really sure what to do or how to address the problems. He had always enjoyed playing with his dog pals, so we were upset, confused, and stressed when he started demonstrating some reactive behaviors - particularly when he was on a leash. Words really can't express how grateful we are to Carlos for taking time with Chili to assess his unique needs and develop a training program where he worked with Chili to help him overcome his issues. In a couple of short months he was able to make incredible progress with Chili and eventually "graduated" him to regular daycare with his pack leader Doriam. For the last year and a half, Chili has LOVED spending multiple days per week walking and romping with his pack! Chili adores Doriam and loves going to camp - I can see it in his body language when he gets picked up, in the photos that Doriam diligently sends us daily, and the way Chili prances back into the house and plops onto his bed after a fun day with his pack. Whenever Chili sees a white van he gets so excited because he thinks he's being picked up for camp (He has tried to climb into many Amazon prime vehicles !) In addition to daycare, we have "boarded" Chili with both Carlos and Doriam several times. We honestly wouldn't board him with anyone else - we know he is getting the utmost care and attention from people we trust and who love him. It really sets our mind at ease knowing he is safe, cared for, and happy while we're away. My husband and I are relocating to the San Diego area at the end of this month. We are so sad to leave K9HS and worry we won't find another doggy daycare business that can live up to the standard the Carlos and his team have set. We will miss them ! We highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality training and daycare for their beloved dogs. read more

Carlos and Doriam are the best! Our dogs, Buddy and Maui love going to daycare with them and they always send us the best photo updates. They're always so tired and happy when they get home. We even did extra training with Carlos after we had our first kid. We got Maui during the early days of the pandemic and he is still quite young so he didn't quite understand what it meant to have a baby around. Carlos assessed Maui's temperament and was able to give us specific techniques to work with his quirks. Now, Maui is especially great at walking on leash and giving our kid space. He's so good that our toddler tries to take him on walks and he's very gentle and patient with her. We can't thank Carlos enough for giving us the tools to train Maui and Buddy so that we could provide a safe environment for our kid. read more

While I didn't have the chance to enroll my doggo into their puppy training day school, I had the pleasure of joining in on K9HS basic dog training course via Zoom for several weeks with other virtual dog trainers and it was amazing! Led by Carlos, a true the Dog Whisperer, my sis and I would sit in for 45 minutes each week and listen to him share all the knowledge when it came to building a relationship with your dog, centered around respect and understanding. Some topics he covered included how to help your dog bark less, addressing personal space, and the best ways to reward and correct unwanted behavior. Every week would be a new theme, but all of them were certainly relevant to trainers working with dogs of all ages. The classes were quick, but Carlos always made sure to pause between segments to ask if we had any questions, and would even go above and beyond to stay on longer if he needed to explain something in greater detail. Carlos really knows what he is doing and gives trainers a better understanding of what their dog is thinking about and how to get them on board when it comes to training. I would 100% recommend checking the Zoom Class out if you're just dabbling in the idea of training your dog to his or her fullest potential, and if you love it - which I have a good feeling you will - check out the rest of their services as well! Thanks Carlos and team for such a wonderful course! read more

We LOVE Canine High School! As a certifiable Helicopter Dog Mom with incredibly high standards for dog ownership, I spent months looking for the right trainer for our Rottweiler puppy and decided on K9HS after interviewing with them and following them on social media. We got our puppy, Tembo, at 8 weeks old and started him with K9HS at about four months, after all vaccinations were done. Tembo completed the 12 week Puppy School program (earning his AKC STAR puppy cert) followed by the 12 week Dog School program during which he earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title. He will be continuing on with another program with K9HS. It was very important for us to train Tembo from a young age to be calm, respectful and obedient not only for our sanity but for his safety. He is a large male Rottweiler and could easily out power me by six months old. Unfortunately due to his breed, he's liable to be blamed for any altercation that may occur regardless of his involvement, so we focused very heavily on threshold management, emotional control and confidence with customized guidance from Carlos for both our and Tembo's learning style to make sure he isn't reactive and that we maintain control. We are completely satisfied with everything we have learned and how well behaved Tembo is regularly. Carlos and his team, especially Natalie and Guillermo, do an excellent job of training standard skills in addition to the much harder to train "soft skills" such as threshold management and confidence which has set Tembo up for success and allows us to build on those foundations. Plus, walking him is a dream! He's relaxed and never pulls or runs off. He also doesn't bark or react to most things. All of these traits make life with a dog so much nicer! As an example: I took him on a ferry to Catalina to go backpacking; Entirely unknown experiences with lots of new inputs - he did great! Wasn't concerned about the boat, handled sleeping in a tent, and met tons of new people. He was super chill in all these environments and a large part of that confidence is due to his education and exposure at K9HS. Overall, highly recommend Carlos and the team! It's expensive but worth it - you get what you pay for - and as long as you also do your part at home, and hopefully attend group classes to educate yourself, you absolutely will not be disappointed! Plus is super fun! read more

We can't say enough good things about Carlos, Candice and the full staff at K9HS. At the end of January I adopted our beautiful Bailey from the shelter. After a great first night it turned out she was going to be quite the challenge! Bailey is the cutest (now almost) 11 month old Chihuahua, but extremely alpha and the absolute boss. Settling her into the house with our old black lab wasn't going to be easy as she was extremely aggressive to him. Luckily he was almost deaf and was doing his best to ignore her. She would pick a fight with every dog she saw, even the pit bulls at the vets office! There was no way she was gonna be welcome at the dog kennel for boarding for our Spring Break trip. Yikes what was I going to do? I met Carlos by happy coincidence while the school were out walking the most well behaved dogs I'd ever seen and the following day Carlos came over to the house to assess Bailey. Yep, in short she was going to be a challenge. She was not responding to the usual blocking techniques and managing introductions to our black lab was going to be a journey. Bailey has made so much progress between the three one on one training sessions with Carlos so far and about 4 weeks of high school training. She's now great with our old lab, an absolute joy playing with the other dogs at Wag hotels and doggie play dates with our neighbors dogs and is much less reactionary when walking her and being around other dogs. For sure the investment in Bailey's training has been so worth it and a game changer for us as a family. Thanks Carlos & Candice!!!! read more

Carlos and his team at K9HS are incredible. They are professionals who are also very kind and run a great business. I have a young, very active dog who was having some reactivity issues on leash. Carlos is an amazing trainer! I have a Standard Schnauzer named Kaiser, who was 3 years old when we signed him up for training at K9HS. We did the week long board and train with Carlos in August 2021. He came back a changed dog and we couldn't be happier. One of the main things that was worked on was basic behavior corrections, such as impulse control and manners with other dogs. We also purchased the moderate training package and one of the major things we worked on was loose leash walking. As a mom, it's so important that my dog is able to walk on leash while I push the stroller and knows how to behave when we encounter other dogs. I was not able to take our dog on walks before and now it is a favorite activity for us all. We have also signed Kaiser up for doggie daycare which he loves. Thank you Carlos and staff for such an awesome program! I couldn't be happier and would not hesitate to recommend! read more

I have been through 5 different trainers for my dog(s) over the last five years. I was recommended to Canine High School by a friend. I can not speak more highly of them. I sent my puppy, Albert, to puppy school and now he just completed the next certificate K9HS Middle School program. He is not jumping, he sits, and he is actually listening! I highly recommend Canine High School. We are taking The Starter Pack training sessions with Carlos at Canine High School. We have two 6-month old new puppies, and Carlos' 10 years of experience with pet training have been very helpful in teaching us methods to improve their behavior. He's wonderful at training us to train them. Given the recent lockdown, we are taking the training with Canine High School over live video. This is very convenient since we live in San Diego. Carlos used his own pets to give examples of the skills he was teaching. Carlos' friendly demeanor and willingness to answer questions also help a lot. We and our puppies are learning very quickly. I am very happy with K9 high school! We ended up getting a 1 year old rescued pit mix right before the quarantine happened. Due to social distancing she wasn't able to socialize except with our two small dogs and cat(which she loves and is super kind and gentle towards). To our surprise, she began to be super reactive and intense towards other dogs on leash. We were concerned that she may have leash aggression and worried about letting her met new dogs. We contacted K9 high school, and they did an evaluation of her, and then took her to meet the pack to see how she responded to see if she would need training or just socialization. Thankfully she responded super well to the other dogs! Sometimes proper introductions are everything! She loves her weekly pack walks(I think they call it day care) and now gets so excited when the dog walker arrives. Sure, we can walk her ourselves, but the socialization she's getting with new and different dogs is priceless for her development! Socialization is key for any dog, but especially younger ones, since what they learn now can shape how they react and respond in the future. Sure, $45 a walk (4-6 hours) may seem like alot at first glance, but I can say I fully trust them. Other places may do it longer for cheaper but you never know if it's an inexperienced walker trying to handle a bunch rowdy possibly aggressive dogs. Here I know she's happy and most importantly safe. read more

K9HS, Carlos and all the trainers are just the absolute BEST! I've owned dogs my whole life and I feel like I'm a pretty good dog owner but I know I have flaws. Both of my dogs definitely needed more time out of the yard and away from us with other dogs and people. I put them in the dog day care and it's been the absolute best thing I've ever done. I only regret not doing it sooner in their lives. I definitely don't have 4+ hours to commit to taking them out and about and I don't have access to all the dogs they get to socialize with either so this is worth every penny. My dogs have been going for only about 4 weeks now and I notice a HUGE difference when I walk them! They are much less easily distracted by other dogs, which was a goal I had for them. They absolutely love going and they're nice and tired when they get home. As if all that was fantastic enough we've been doing the 12 week classes as well (when we don't have to work) and all the things we've learned from Carlos have worked like a charm! It hasn't taken long for our dogs to catch on and I love doing the classes because you're able to ask Carlos whatever you need to and he is so intelligent and so willing to help! Both our dogs are very happy pupils in K9HS. We have an anxious 6-year-old Yorkie and a Doodle puppy with boundless (previously uncontrolled) energy. Our dogs get so excited when they are picked up and when they return, they are pooped! I am very disappointed in this company. I have been struggling with resource aggression with my corgi, and contacted them at my vet's recommendation. They told me I needed to spray my corgi before we could begin training. I did not want to spay her yet as we had intended to breed her once. Per their recommendation, and discussion with their head trainer, we got her spayed in order to begin training. Once she was spayed, we scheduled training services. I had paid for the service and had the first training scheduled. The day before the service, they surprised me with a service agreement, which was required in order for them to train my dog. The agreement was basically written to say they could lose your dog, injure your dog, or not train your dog, but you'd still be liable and would not hold them liable. I requested some minor revisions to the agreement, which were rejected. I did not find this out that they rejected terms until we were already waiting for them outside for her pick up and I received a text that they were not coming. Unfortunately, I have now spayed my dog, and cannot get the training I was assured. This has been an extremely upsetting situation as the spay cannot be undone. read more
