We had a horrible experience at K1 speed in Addison last night. My wife had the idea of surprising our 2 boys with indoor go-karting. She bought tickets online and checked us in before we left the house. We didn't tell the boys where we were going until we got there. When we got there, we had to wait in a long line, even though we'd already purchased tickets. When we go to the register, it took them about 10 minutes to find our order. "What was the last name? Not seeing it. What are the first names?" Etc. They didn't seem to want the info from our order confirmation email. After they finally find our order, they made all 4 of us buy memberships even though this was a one-time thing. Once checked in, they told us they wouldn't have a spot for 4 to ride together for an hour. At this point I wanted to leave but we stayed and played some games. They had a game where you could throw a football and knock down bowling pins (had to go back to counter to leave a photo ID to get a football). 5 minutes into playing that, a 4x8' plywood sheet that they used to protect the wall fell off the wall and hit my older son from behind, scratching up his back and arm. We told them about it, and they said "Oh sorry." Didn't do anything about it. But the icing on the cake, what topped off this horrible experience, was that after about an hour we decided to go check on our position in line at the track. They couldn't find us. Finally the guy says "Oh is this you? I called you 6 times about 20 minutes ago. Now you will have to wait an hour and a half for another turn." Unbelievable. Can we get a refund? Yes at the front desk. Go back to the front desk (all 16 year old girls by the way) and they tell us they can't refund us because our tickets were purchased online. They showed no empathy or concern at all. We asked for manager. Manager says the same. You have to call a number online to ask for a refund. They don't give us the number, they don't give us anything to confirm that we are due one, nothing. We spent over $100 dollars hoping to surprise our boys with a fun night of go-karting, and instead we wasted 2 hours, had our son injured, didn't get to go-kart, were treated rudely, and didn't get a refund. Just a horribly run business in all facets. read more

I would like to give advise to everone who is thinking of going to this place for your own safety from my personal experience. I made a reservation for me & 7 of my friends this past sunday 10/18/20. I want make it as clear as possible, we had a blast no doubt about it, this activity was really fun for sure. But i will never put a foot here ever again, let me explain why... At the end of our second race me and my brother in law had a collision. Oviously you are racing to try to win that's the idea, and because of that you try your best at passing the people infront of you. Unfortunally because of that i noticed a lot of collisions berofe our turn, on our 1st race two of my friends also collided too. The point im trying to make is that this not safe what so ever! The karts doesn't have the proper protection for the collisions, there is springs on the edges of the track but there not any spring on the karts so when you crash most of the impact your body end up absorbing it. The very next day i woke up with pain all over my back and the worst was my neck. I couldn't move my neck to the left side because the left rector capitis on my neck was swollen and hurted so bad all day long. My friend ended up bitting the bottom inside of his tongue when he got hit by my other friend, his tongue was swollen and bleeding. The karts go from 0-30 or 40 mph in seconds and when you crash you stop complety at once, so again your body ends up absorbing most of the impact. For your own safety and your love ones if you truly care about your health this is NOT safe at all, fun for sure but not safe. I hope this helps others avoid getting hurt too. One last thing, once you have a collision they finish the race after one more very slow lap, we definetly didn't get our 14 laps on neither of our two reces for sure :( read more

Racing karts at K1 is a great deal of fun. As advertised, the cars are more responsive than gasoline equivalents. My only complaint with this location is that there appears to a slight problem with their lap timing technology that I attempted to explain to the staff to no avail. read more

I don't think the way they did things was realistic. I took my kid for his bday and a friend and for $130 for an hour it wasn't worth it. Junior racing is what we did for two 12 year olds for their bday and they didn't have fun. The employees adjusted their go carts and they went slow. The kids couldn't even race together due to this reason, one racer was half a course ahead from the other so the competition feeling was non existent. Pretty lame. We did 3 races, my 2 sons of 18 and 21. In the third race there were 4 very slow people and 1 didn't even see the blue flag they were waiving at him all the time. We were not happy and told the management. They gave us a fourth race with only the 3 of us !!! They even upped the top speed of the karts for us Very very good customer service ! read more

Fun and fast cars. Be aware if you are taller or have wider hips the drive may be slightly uncomfortable.

Awesome place, so much fun! My son is in the Tuesday night league, and we go here at least twice as month for him to practice. The girls at the front desk are so sweet, and great pizza in the restaurant. The young men who set up the cars have always been helpful to my son and friendly to all of us. read more

Went to K1 for a my husbands company event and was amazed by how much fun we all had. The kart races were so much fun and way better then go-carts! The food was amazing and there was so much for us to do after the kart races. We played cyber sport, pool and they even had bags! The staff was fantastic and super attentive. Amazing night and when I got into my work that Monday I asked when we could have a party there. All around a great time, would highly recommend for any group event!! read more

Pretty cool place fun for all ages. The cards are actually pretty fast which makes it extremely fun. The track is not bad and you get 14 laps for a pretty good price. We had gift cards for Christmas here and we were able to go out multiple times as the laps take a while plus the amount of laps you do it is actually tiring. Tons of fun here I will continue to come back with my friends. Only gets four stars because I wish they did let you be a little more competitive with passing. They flag you and have you move over and let people pass versus bumping into each other. I do understand that they don't want Rex and want to keep people safe along with the carts and good condition. If you have never done this, TELL THEM. They are so busy they try to get people in the cars as fast as possible and they don't even check if everyone's seatbelts are on. DONT get 2 races. Takes forever to get in just to wait another 15+races to get in again. Ridiculous. Sorry but was not a fan. Then one of the workers yelled at me because I wasn't driving correctly. I've never done go karting and was not told anything, how was I suppose to know? It was 40 bucks for the two rides also. There are pool games and A-COUPLE games which their token machine wasn't working. Sorry,it was poorly managed. and the place REEKED OF weed. If I could rate this business zero stars I would. I purchased speed passes online prior to visiting the location on Saturday February the 19th. Upon arrival at 8:30 pm the business was pretty empty but was told there would be a two hour wait to race. My boyfriend was really looking forward to going here for his birthday so we decided to play pool and wait. During our wait the bar closed at 10 pm without any announcement nor warning . When I approached the bar to purchase a glass of wine I noticed staff was counting down the register and was told it was closed but I could purchase something if I had cash..... long story short we ended up waiting 3 hours to race. We received a lack luster half assed debriefing before entering the track . We were left to figure things out for our selves such as knowing we were given assigned cars etc. I will NEVER visit this place again. The front desk staff was on there cellphones and lacked proper communication skills . New management is needed ASAP. read more

We came in for our corporate work party and was highly excited until we stopped the games and wanted to order food and drinks. Apparently in a huge establishment such as this they have no cocktail servers or food servers that come around into your private party room. The girl who hosted our gaming session was great , but everyone else was sub par , especially that Hispanic bartender. We requested several times leading up to our dinner that we needed someone to come get a drink order and no one ever showed up. Later on, we found out that it was the bartender's job to take our orders , which he never did. Not only that, we were forced to take our own food orders and hand him a sheet a paper of what we wanted. Well of course he screwed that up as well...: it would have been nice to get the standardized corporate group treatment like we were supposed to. I mean after spending $40/ person for racing and a group of guys drinking beer, you think they would have milked that bar tab via up selling. NOPE!!! Later on the manager told us that they don't have "corporate approval" of a server in that area due to the "hourly wage it costs".... So, $4.90 / hour is clearly too much $ to invest in a server that could deliver a great experience unlike the one we got last night. Apparently their lack of investment cost them a repeat experience. Had a great time racing! However I've never seen such horrible service in the "restaurant" "bar" area. Not only were they 20 mins late opening, I had to give my order to the hostess who in turn radioed it into the kitchen. We were never once greeted by the server. We walked up to the bar to get our own drinks, napkins and refills. We Walked up to the bar to get our check. Not on once were we asked if we needed anything. read more

First of all, read all the other reviews and notice which ones get a reply from Tania P. of K1... They all have 3 or more stars. What does it say about a business when they'll only recognize positive reviews? Do bad reviews give you nothing? WAKE UP!!! They tell you what you are doing wrong and what to fix so as to make more $$$. Listening to customers should help you make more money. That's the point of a business right? Based on how they reply to reviews, I guess not. Anyway, when you walk in there are no directions were to go. There is a register right as you come in. Logical place to go first right? Well I stood there for 5 minutes like an idiot without anyone asking why I was standing there until I noticed others using some computers at the far end of the counter to log in. Again, nobody and no signs directing me where to go. I was told that for 1 race the wait would be one hour. WHAT??? There could not have been more than 20 people in the waiting area so how could the wait be that long? I went for it anyway just because I wanted to try the place out. We did the safety briefing and then they led us right to the pits. I guess 1 hour at this place means 5 minutes, right? Nope. Once I got the head sock and helmet on I waited for ten minutes to race. They had to make 3 different intercom calls to get people to race. They really don't do a good job of getting people to line up before their race. Either that or they just don't care. It's a toss up given how many track officials were just standing around in the pits and would occasionally look at me and never thought to tell me to take off the helmet until the race was about to start. Once I got racing it was awful. 2 kids were racing who pretty much didn't care if they bumped into you, they charged into tight corners very fast and made you either hit the brakes or swerve. Also they have two places where the track referees stand to wave the flags. The flag they wave the most is the passing flag where someone faster is coming up. Problem... both of these are right before tight turns. Does anyone else see a problem with that? One of those turns is barely one car length wide and you want me to get over to let others pass me? Why don't I just stop all together? Also there was a woman who I wanted to pass without bumping and she was flagged several times to get over but she didn't. Other reviewers have complained about the electronic throttling. This, to me, is a perfect instance of using electronic throttle to punish a racer who won't obey the flags. Why should the responsible racers be punished with worse lap times because they are looking out for safety of those who can't be bothered to obey the flags? The track officials seem to indiscriminately enforce rules and racers seem content to ignore track officials flags. I don't see myself coming back. read more

Took my 14 yr old here for his birthday with three other kids. Firstly, the facility is very nice - great equipment, large well-lit tracks, open viewing with bar area (love the large scale photography). From the moment we walked in, however, we were met with dead-eyed 20 somethings that staff the place. No one seemed to be happy to be there, they don't help you understand the layout, and talk among each other about their other jobs while we wait for them to get us started. During the monotone intro to the kart, the guy looked at my youngest son (who was pre-screened by the receptionist to be big enough to race) and said "are you even old enough? This should be interesting...". My son was pretty bummed and felt like he was being made fun of. Great start K1. Racing started off ok, then after the 2nd race one of the boys complained about his kart. The staffer explained power settings were changed remotely on that particular kart along with one other. Really! They monkey with the power without even telling the drivers why their karts are no longer competitive - now that's fun racing. Of course the karts of the two adults in our group that were ramming the kids from behind and late-braking to push them out of corners were not changed during the race. Bravo K1! We left feeling like we saw the best indoor karting venue around, and that we would probably not be back. Turns out service is the most important factor in indoor karting. read more

Had a amazing time!! It's been two years since I raced here and the cars got slower , but that's what father time does. employees were good. I tried to get a groupon, but it wasn't available. There's this one worker i think his name was Julien? he helped out my friend with all the rules and to get familiar with the course. he showed us a few tricks that we can do on the course.. i didn't get the best time, but I still had fun. Overall my experiencing was fantastic. Will come back again in the future. read more

I'll start with the negative. We had a big group of about 30 people. After racing, we head to the dining area. There were 2 male bartenders (only people there) who paid no attention to our large group obviously needing service. After inquiring, they sent us to a corner area which was way too small for our group. We waited for 15 minutes before realizing no one was going to host us. Asking the bartenders, we're told to we need to order at the bar. They basically let us sit there and wait uninformed. Then we asked how many cooks are in the kitchen in order to gauge the wait time. One of the bartender was extremely rude with response implying it was none of our business to ask. We left the establishment and ate elsewhere. They easily lost $300-$500 worth of business. Aside from that, the over all environment was good. Karts could be more consistent in speed and handling. read more

Yes, I am a chinese. My friends and I got fully discriminated in this place. Our 12 people group bought 2 races pack. During the first race, the speed is so high. We got the average time about 22s. Up to then, this was a fantastic trip. We have our second race after 10 minutes. But this time, our car speed is limitted except an orange shirt guy. He can pass us instantly.All of my friend feel the speed is limitted because during the whole race, we never use breaker once. Our speed can not goes up obviously compared with first race. The most important thing is that the fking orange can pass us so easily. Why I use the word fking, because when I argue with the manager about the speed limit and why the orange can get his fast speed . He said and asked me: there is no speed limit for us. Is this ur first time here, he always come here and he is a good driver. What a fk excuse! A race without once break and tell us no speed limt. How dare u doubt us12 people's feeling. And limit our speed because he always come here? This is terrible trip ever. read more

Customer service is horrible, came with my son and one of his friends. The front desk clerk has no customer service or social skills. Bought 3 race packages only to be told that we could not race back to back, wait 45 min to a hour for the first race, then 15-20 min in between each additional race. We called ahead and asked if they were busy or had any bookings and were told no, not at all come on in. Sure enough they aren't busy, but still will not book you back to back races. Spoke to the manager and was told they don't book races back to back, so they can have the next group staged and ready to enter as one group is exiting. I told him we have raced here over 100 races and it's never been a problem before. Been here for 35 min waiting on our first race, and not one race has happened as he described, "one exiting and one entering". There has been a 4-5 min window of downtime between each race! read more

First of all, the comment a couple of 'yelps' down about the owner only responding to positive reviews was interesting ***until*** I saw the owner's response that he sends private notes to personally follow up with those that didn't have a great experience - wanted to balance that out with the review below because I read the reviews before coming and was a little concerned...On to my feedback... We went over there at 6:30 this evening (Friday night) and had a great time - 10 year old, 12 year old, and dad. The team was courteous and anxious to make sure it was a great experience. Nothing to suggest to make it better! It was quiet for a Friday night which was great as we didn't have to wait at all...and the separate kids track is great for the younger ones. The air conditioning/heating/indoor/well lit environment and electric karts are fantastic and well kept up!!! It may be a bit expensive but considering the overhead to run a place like this it seems to be a good value to me. read more

Disastrous event!!!! Would not recommend this place to anyone. We arrived at 5 and were told to come back at 8 for 8:30 racing. The first race didn't happen until 9:25. Their were 12 of us so we were told we would alternate races. We were supposed to do 3 races. The races were completely spread out and other groups were put in between our races. By 10:30 we still hadn't started our 3rd race. We finally had enough. The manager Tom could not have been any less professional. He was incredibly rude and showed a clear lack of concern over keeping customers. read more

Two stars because I had an okay time. $45 for an hour wait and 15 minutes of racing really isn't worth it in my opinion. The rudest person here was the "bartender." Dark hair, somewhat of a European looking. Don't you dare ask her for the drink menu. Yes I'm serious. This woman gave me a HUGE attitude because of that and even told me they don't have a drink menu because all of the drinks are the same price. So when I asked how much an Angry Orchard is, Stella, Miller Lite, Bud Lite, Blue Moon, etc; She then handed me the food menu. Lo and Behold!!!!- the drink menu was on the back! When I pointed this out to her she snarled up her grotesque face and said- "It's not called a drink menu, its called a "Liquor List." -_- seriously? What are you 12? I honestly should of thrown her a penny as a tip for her troubles. read more

I've been to K1 Speed several times now. The carts are great but so is the food (try the wings!) and the Full Service Bar. Also lots of billiard tables and TVs make for a great time after you race the carts. This place is much more than just a Go Cart track! I will definitely be going back soon! read more

I was not totally sold on this place after CIR closed down. That is until I came on a racing league night. Max was our grid person and did a terrific job of catering to the racing enthusiasts as did the manager on duty that night. These guys understand racing geeks! I would still prefer gasoline or propane karts, but the place is run well with the electrics. read more

Really recommend for social gatherings and not hobbyists. I gave this place 5 stars primarily on the fact that they are extremely professional and courteous. I lost my phone and came back after they closed and they let me in for a good 20 minutes and helped me look through their MASSIVE establishment until I found my phone. I didn't really enjoy the carting but the place was extremely well kept and the people there could not be more friendly. read more

There are places that pride themselves on safety then places that are okay with mediocre safety. There are places who make sure the guests understand rules and then there are places that assume everyone "gets it" My time at K1 turned into a nightmare when a woman crashed on top of my girlfriend's kart causing her to go to the hospital with broken bones. The woman who hit her previously hit barriers causing us to stop racing. Folks this place is fun, however the employees RUSH through the safety procedures almost like they don't matter. If they had put more than 3 minutes into teaching us, this horrific experience would not have happened. Kids and families race here and I'd hate for anyone's child to get severely hurt or killed due to the negligence of the "safety briefing". Do not risk your safety or health and please reconsider racing at this sub-par establishment that only takes your money and doesn't care about the safety of your loved ones.... read more

Overall this is a fun place. Great for Tweens & adults. However the atmosphere outside of the racing is bland. The track designs are the exact same as when this place opened several years ago and the "arcade" is anything but. If they made it more of a destination vs a one stop offering I feel it would be much more enjoyable. I'm basing my review on my visits to K1 vs Andretti Karting. read more
