The people were nice but on a Saturday they absolutely were not enforcing rules. My first race there wasn't even a flag person, the second race this guy was acting like it was bumper cars and the staff were watching him slam into people but never said anything. He rammed into multiple people, including me, and I hurt my neck. Another person he flipped their car around 180 degrees. It's disorganized, they don't actually call your name half the time, and I waited 50 minutes past my slotted time to do my first race. read more

Ridiculously expensive, over rated! Not worth the time and money to drive all the way from Chicago. The place was hot and humid and stinky. Poor ventilation! It's difficult to track if it's you're next to race coz it's very disorganized. The cars seem to be old, unreliable and not well maintained. My son was so disappointed and coz his car kept stopping on its own and the attendant were not helpful and hard to find. They just kept goofing around and dancing the background music. We are definitely not coming back to this place. We were initially planning on booking this place for a party but decided not to because of our bad experience. read more

Understaffed, facility was very poorly managed as there was no guidance during any of the process and you seemed to have to figure out everything on your own. Once the money was taken no one communicated anything. Waiting time was in excess of 1:30 min and during the wait time we determined that the games were way over priced as a $10 game card got 3/4 games max, foosball table ball was not available. Corn hole bags either missing or not usable due to being half empty. Once we did get called to race we waited geared up for another 15 min before our first race. The race was constantly stopped, cars broke down mid race and when we did race the other racers slammed into 3 of us and spun us out. They were not spoken to until we addressed and asked that they be warned. Once completed again no one asked us anything on the way out, nor were they concerned about our experience. Have visited on multiple times and this was the worst experience by far and not a cheap day for 30 min of fun. Do better and fix these issues your customers deserve a better experience for the money being spent. read more

If you feel the need for speed, K1 is the place to go! There are two tracks here, one of which is usually reserved for large parties and the other for more of a walk-in customer. The staff will go over instructions on how to navigate the controls and cautionary advice when driving alongside others. Most importantly, do not hit a cart in front of you if it is stopped, as your cart may flip over and cause serious injuries. I found the brakes easy to use and responsive, so never encountered any issues with hitting others around me. The carts are pretty fast, I believe topping out around 40mph. NOT SAFE!!! Parents beware--these carts are very unsafe, can go airborne, and it is only a matter of time before someone is catastrophically injured or worse. At my son's 14th birthday party, he and six buddies did the teen party on the adult track. During the third race, my son swerved sideways, his buddy's cart behind him stayed straight and then T-boned my son. The buddy went airborne, driving OVER my son's shoulder and grazing his helmet, and clearing the other side of the cart. We are so thankful that the cart did not squarely hit his head at these speeds. When asked how often these carts get airborne, the manager told me "quite often." In response to my concern about safety, the manager retorted that we signed a waiver and thus we knew that DEATH or catastrophic injury was a risk we were assuming by letting our kids on the track at K1. In response to letting the manager know that child waivers are not enforceable in Illinois, they referred me to a more senior manager in California. They have yet to confirm that they did an investigation, that they have referred this case for review, or doing anything to prevent this from happening in the future. For instance, there are no cages or roll bars covering any part of the person in these carts. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse at K1. And K1 knows of this risk, yet simply does not care as they are banking on (unenforceable) liability waivers. And on top of all of this, the service at this location was horrible. We will not return and strongly discourage any parents of teens from bringing your kids here. read more

This was one of the worst hosted birthday parties for $$$ I can't believe you rob people of money for this kind of deplorable service. I did almost all of the work. Nothing was ready on time, from racing to food to drinks. I had to go in the back to get forks. No drinks were made available for my party. We were left waiting OVER 45 minutes to race. This place was so fun! When you enter you have to fill out a waiver. There's a bar with food. They don't let you drink before driving the carts...so do this after. They provide the helmets for you to wear. We had two races. The first race there was a bunch of people with us. It took me a few laps to feel comfortable. Once I did though it was sooooo fun! Way smoother than the out door go carting of the past. Our second race was just myself and my friend. I much preferred racing with less people because you didn't get stuck behind someone or worry about people trying to pass you. You can see you're score on a big screen. They also give you a print out of you're score. They have pool tables, air hockey, and bags for additional fun. read more

Electric go karting is quieter, cleaner and more fun than the gas powered ones I grew up with. The first thing they have you do is sign up at one of the computer terminals. If it's your first time here, you'll need an annual membership ($8) that provides free use of helmet, head sock, and online scoring. You can bring your own helmet to wear, but make sure it has a visor. They do not allow GoPros. The people working here were nice and friendly. The track is bright and clean. It takes about 4 minutes to go around 14 laps/race. I've been here several times with about 6-9 karts on the track at time. The electric go karts are fast and can cause bruising if you're not strapped in tight. Make sure you buckle down real tight with the seat belt so you don't get banged around inside the kart too much. The staff has control over all of them and can limit the speed to go slow with a push of a button. At the end of each race, they will print out the results and put them on the counter by the front desk. There are restrooms and water fountain available. It's a bit pricey. I should of follow my right mind and purchase the deal when I saw it on Groupon. Bummer Right. The staff were super cool. What an experience! Went for a non-contact birthday gathering on a Saturday afternoon and I can tell you that the place was not full... which is great in this day and time of COVID. The people at the front desk were super helpful when answering questions and when it came down to the actual races, the staff was great as well. The helmets and cars were wiped down after every race and with your paid admission, you received a head wrap that you can put on before putting on the helmet. The whole process process - from registering to the actual race - was amazing. I couldn't have acmsked for a more excellent experience for not only myself but for my family as well. Okay this place could get a 5 star. . . Very clean and fun place, with lots of parking. However... It being my first time here, I brought 3 boys here, which we ate raced and played pool..This was yesterday at about 5. The face of a business should be positive, respectful and professional. I did not get that from the rude girl at front desk! (To be specific, she was the short girl with a messy hair do) -Note: the other girl with glasses was dressed professional and was polite with a smile! I spoke to your rude rep. she did not speak back. She did not greet us... Did not ask us what we're here for.. Did not TELL US where to go.... And did not even ask if we had any questions.... She is the WORST. I hope next time I come she's not the face of this establishment. People come here to have fun to be distracted...Not to be treated like we're not paying enough money or something. ***Bartenders turned my experience around. They were two men very kind and also guided us to entrance of race track and bathrooms. They had positive work ethics and you can tell they were glad to help! Thanks to him, I'll be coming back. Place sucks. Girls at the front desk are clueless, it's all very unorganized. Customer service is at an all time low. We got here at 2pm and the girls scheduled us for 5pm... I can count about 4 parties that went before us who checked in after us. Plus, it's not busy.. No managers.. no sense of urgency or willingness to please a customer. The only good worker we can see here is the bartender. Everyone else are basically children and don't give a fuck about anything. Very disappointed for my first and last time here. I'm a gearhead...my dad's a gearhead...we went go-karting often throughout my life. When he suggested it now, I couldn't believe it! He's had really bad hip/knee problems for years, so I thought our go-karting days were LONG gone. If he wanted to, we had to make it happen. Our old spot in Melrose Park closed, so we decided to give K1 and their electric karts a whirl. In a few points... - Wait was awwwwful, and we were repeatedly lied to both times we asked for a status update (30-40min turned into 1 hour which turned into 2.5+ hours) - MUST buy "membership" for $6/ea - There were a couple massive jerks in our group... They repeatedly rammed into others' karts and did it to my dad and I, too. Pass when you can. This is not bumper cars - Races are not equal. Some groups got far more laps than others. - Employees limit karts for no reason sometimes (other times, it was justified) - Giant and clean facility - Lots to do while you wait (which you will) - they have tons of pool tables ($12/hr) and arcade games including the basketball game - Restaurant with bar, but no alcohol before racing (which makes sense) The only saving grace was that because it was my dad's birthday month his race was free; otherwise, the pricing is astronomical for the little track time you get. He did have a blast, whereas I was more annoyed by the wait and moronic drivers, so I'm happy by proxy. read more

The go/karts are fast, and there are two tracks to choose from; one being more advanced and one being more intermediate with less twists and turns. Everyone was incredibly helpful, and really nice. My one gripe is the arcade... I bought 200 tokens when I got there and struggled to use them up because most of the games were broken and out of service. Other than that, it's a fun spot. read more

Sooo FUN. Very cool place. This place really is perfect for a lot of reasons. Fun for adults and kids. There were a bunch of kids birthdays while we were there....we were a group of adults. If you have kids, bring them and you get to have fun too. If you don't have kids or want a night away for fun, totally cool place for adults. I'm a big guy and I fit easily into the car. You might call it a go cart, but nothing like when we were kids....no. when I was a kid the go carts ran on a 1 horsepower lawn mower engine. They were slow, even if you thought they were fast. These are go carts with a real engine....well, maybe not. Maybe a go cart on steroids, or nitrous oxide. I think they go at least 20 miles per hour. For me, these felt very fast. You only get like 7 laps around, but it feels like more. You would think it goes really quick, but it feels like a long time. I highly recommend taking 1 night out of your year and come here. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. If you are, you're really not that fun anyway. read more

Sent a request to book a bachelor party on May 1st. After numerous calls, and being hung up on by there automated answering service I finally got a hold of a person four days before my party date. The customer service person state they called me and sent me an email. I went back through all of my e-mails and phone messages to May 1st there were no communications from K1. In fact the only communication I got from them was the original message saying the got my reservation request. Then I sent an email to them telling them about my "awesome" experience and just like the rest of K1 no one bothered to get back to me! Try calling customer service before noon at 855-517-7333, there automated system just hangs up on you. Then after my terrible experience with customer service I was dumb enough to still try an book the party only to find out they were no accepting reservation for time i requested for my party! While I have been to K1 a few times and had a great time there customer service has to be the worst I have ever seen. And I'm sure they don't understand why they are only getting 3 stars from customers. K1 if you this the is wrong try calling you own customer service during normal peoples working hours.... Oh and there automated message over this period of time say due to the unusually high call volume....he's a hint hire more people? This was the birthday party on 2/4/24, without food, for 10 riders, at the Austin, TX location. I want to note that this year makes this my 3rd party at K1, and this party event was the worst experience! First, let me start by letting you know we noticed that this day the racing center was short staffed. As I checked in for the party, arriving at 3:02 PM, we did not get called back to get driving instructions until 4:50 PM. This was more than a 1 hour wait, which meant that we didn't get out of the center until almost 7 PM. This was a delay that I was not expecting, nor did any of the staff come to me or any of my guests to apologize for the delay. Lastly, on the 3rd racing/qualifying race, which was 14 laps, I had kart problems on the checkered flag race. My kart tire, (right front), came off to the side, I started hearing a strange noise, and I feared if I went fast the tire could possibly come off and hurt myself or someone else. I also saw tire rubber flying off, in which by the end of the race I was covered in rubber specs from the tire. I was told by my guests, riding behind me that they saw sparks fly out of my kart! When I raised my hand and stopped by the guy who was flagging the checker flag, I showed him my tire and he asked me to drive the kart, slowly, on the last lap. Meaning I had no recourse to possibly place on the last lap, and received 6th place per the condition of my kart. As I pulled into the kart pit area, I was told to park my damaged kart in another area for the staff to look at. The guy who looked at my kart said the bolt came off the tire, and that's why the tire was off to the side! I was appalled that no staff apologized for the inconvenience of my damaged kart, nor did I receive an apology for having to go slow on the last lap and losing my place in the race. I understand accidents happen, but the staff was not concerned at any point during my party! We were in fact there to celebrate my birthday, and the staff should have had more customer service skills! This event has made me rethink having another party at K1 next year. My fun ended when the safety of my kart became an issue! FYI: K1 has yet to respond to my complaint or has corporate even called me & today is 2/29/24! read more

We had a company event to do Whirlyball. We were told we would have four hours to use the pool tables. We only were given two, and then they removed the pool balls. They were no foosballs, even though they had a foosball table. The food was late coming out by 30 minutes. The pizza was terrible and the salad was all lettuce and had literally nothing else in it. All of the Whirlyball racquets were badly broken. Now thousands of dollars later I don't know what we paid for? The workers were friendly though. We won't be back and will let others know how lackluster this place was, unfortunately. read more

First off, The track marshals do not care about if you are bumping people, ramming people, or whatever they tell you not to do. Yes they may be understaffed but that doesn't mean that they can slack off on people bumping. While we were there there was a group of drivers that go into an accident, this was caused by the lack of attention of the track marshals. The faster people were behind the one cart and the track marshals never showed the sign that said, "move over." This is obvious unsafe for the people that are attending this race. Second off, when me and my father were seated in the cart, nobody check if we were buckled in correctly. Whilst racing I saw that my father's seat belt was falling off. If he was hit his shoulder could have been dislocated. The part that really pissed me off was that out of the 3 races that we did we got about 3-7 seconds of 100% full speed. Booked a birthday party package for my teenage son and a group of his friends. The package comes with two races and food for everyone worth $150. I bring the cake. We reached ahead of time and got all the waivers done. And then when it came to food, suddenly the manager Miguel tells me I needed to order the pizzas 7 days she'd of time coz it is termed as catered. Nowhere in their contract, in my email and phone communication did they mention that. Got a reminder phone call a day before and I was told it was all set and I need to come in and order the food. The manager refused to acknowledge any of that and also said I cannot bring food from outside. He was downright rude and obnoxious. After a lot of shoring and arguing, he finally agreed to get us the pizza and the rest of the food. Ever eaten a pizza without sauce on it, head over to K1speed, you'll have a first hand experience. Although the kids enjoyed the afternoon, for me and my wife as an organizer it was a terrible experience after having nearly a $1000 for this party. Never ever heading back there anytime soon and will not recommend to any other parent as well. P.S. Exact same scenario for another group of 15 kids, no food and after another round of haggling and screaming, the manager agreed to serve them pizza. Their centralized sales department out in California have no clue what they are doing and promising. They really need to up their game. read more

We drove a hour and a half just to be turned around at the door because of a party with no remorse of us and the others who were walking in the door.
