Confession time: the idea of paying to cook my own dinner has never exactly screamed "great night…read moreout." Then I went to N to Tail, and now I'm considering a career in table-side grilling. The meal started with spicy cucumbers, fried eggplant, and Korean fried chicken. The cucumbers were refreshing, sweet, spicy, and dangerously addictive. The eggplant was crispy, sticky, and packed with flavor. And the fried chicken? My partner could have just eaten that alone and been happy! The four of us went all in on the largest combo platter. Short rib, ribeye, pork belly, shrimp, chicken, veggies--the grill was working overtime. The short rib ipractically melted, the ribeye was buttery perfection, and the pork belly reminded us why pork belly has such a devoted fan club. There was a brief period where my partner and I had no idea what we were doing at the grill, luckily we were with seasoned veterans of it! By the end of the meal my confidence was soaring that I could do this again! The banchan, which the server hinted at has a few sides that change time to time, kept every bite interesting The service was fantastic and so informative, and the entire experience was far more fun than I expected. N to Tail is a hidden gem. Come hungry, bring friends, and don't be surprised if you leave wondering why you haven't stopped by sooner.

The food is great for sharing if you're on a little foodie adventure and hopping around to different spots, and they also have full meals. We really like the food here, and they have specials too. One thing we still haven't tried are the cocktails. Do not pass up the seasonal soft serve! I also remember their T-shirts being super cute. I'll probably stop by again the next time I'm up in Portland. Parking can be tricky with street parking, though there are paid lots. Overall Service: I don't think I've had a bad experience here. The last few times, our servers have been upbeat, and even the host was welcoming.

Close to more bars for extra drinks, easy to run into other friends. Also, it's a beautiful spot with outdoor seating in the warmer months. We opted to sit outside and enjoyed khao soi, katsu pork sandwich, and the honey soft serve. The portions are generous, as we were able to share and have leftovers. Each plate had so many great textures and flavors. We did experience a long wait between ordering, getting food, and receiving the check. It was a busy summer night so I wasn't upset, but do not plan on having a quick meal here. Get cozy, get an extra drinks and enjoy your time here. Apologies, but phone did not eat first this time-no pics!

The braised and crisped pork belly (Buta No Kakuni) here was some of the best I have ever had. One of those "Holy sh*t" bites where you have to put your head down to process what just assaulted your taste buds. Perfectly rendered fat, good meat to fat ratio, super crisp outer exterior but not too much where it gets tough, the caramelized soy glaze to top it all off.. It was just so good. Also, getting a bite with the kewpie, pickled onion, and pork belly all in one shot is chefs kiss. It doesn't even need all the supporting characters, but it makes it that much better. Slightly overshadowed by the pork, I also got an onigiri. It was filled with chicken and chives. Overall I thought the onigiri was decent. Chicken and chive wouldn't be my top filling but it was tasty nonetheless and still worth trying! I like that they griddle it slightly to help it hold its structure instead of using a piece of nori. Its a pretty relaxing feel inside the place. Staff was also attentive and pleasant. We set in the back, up a few steps right underneath an awesome Totoro poster- iykyk.

Given that my wife and I are from Los Angeles, we have always been craving great sushi on the East Coast so we decided to go with the nine course Omakase at Izakaya Minato. It was such a special experience, ranging from the bar seating which allow us to see everything that was happening behind the scenes in the kitchen, to the incredible service from the multitude of servers who served us throughout the night, to the incredible food for a great price. I could see why Izakaya Minato got the credit it deserved as a James Beard finalist this year. Make sure you stop and give it a try!

We decided to do a la carte to try out a handful of dishes, while also making sure we were substantially full between the four of us. Probably the most expensive bite available here is the Uni Spoon ($7), which features a Maine sea urchin, raw quail egg yolk, with a dash of ponzu and tobiko, all served on a spoon. Well worth the splurge IMO. Other dishes that stood out to me included the Razor Clam Motoyaki ($11), Toro Zuke ($22), and the Beef Yukke ($15), which had a nice slight spicy kick. If you're looking for a more filling dish, I'd get the Kimchi Cha-han ($9), which is their kimchi fried rice dish, or their Okonomiyaki ($13), which is a cabbage pancake.

They were delicious, but not the best buns I've had. Would order them again. Duck Ramen: 5/5. If there is duck on the menu, I will be ordering it. Have I ever seen duck ramen on a menu? No. Did I order it? Yes. Did it live up to my unrealistic expectations? Absolutely! The duck was cooked perfectly, the ramen was flavorful, and smelled absolutely heavenly. I ordered the chicken shio ramen and it was pretty good, but I maybe would've like some more spice in there, so maybe I should've ordered something different! My partner got the beef short rib buns which he loved. The service was pretty fast and we were able to be seated quickly which was great as we were starved! Would definitely go back if I were in the area and craving ramen again!
