Keith sold me my first real bike many years ago at Sunstorm Cyclery. I still remember him coming to speak at the Jr. High after winning Kona. He always had time for the kids, and that kindness drew a lot of kids to cycling. I had the opportunity to use the shop several times this week. They changed out a cog, adjusted a hub, changed some tires/tubes, and trued a wheel for me. I also purchased a jersey and a new (badly overdue) road helmet. Steve was businesslike and attentive, and the work was prompt and well done. Additionally, the prices were extremely reasonable, especially for a small town bike shop with almost non existent margins. It was great to chat with Keith, and I'm glad he's basically retired. The customer service at K-Man Cyclery is next level. Just to give you an ideal what I'm talking about, I had a flat on my e-bike ( rear tire) and didn't have transportation to take my rather heavy and large E-bike to the shop to fix. So I threw a dart in the wind and ask them do they do pick ups? The owner ( whose name I unfortunately forgot to get) told me they've never done that before but that he could find someone who could do that for me. I was blown away that he was willing to go out of his way to do this for me. Fortunately I found someone with a truck that was willing to help me out. But nevertheless that's what you call above and beyond customer service! I subsequently took by bike to his shop and not only had my bike fixed the next day but by a significantly lower price then the estimate. We've purchased a couple of bikes here in the past. The owner/employee we've interacted with since then is rude and can't seem to be bothered. I know we're not the only people that this has happened to. We though this was perhaps due to the stress of the pandemic, but it's happened more than once and it's disappointing. Steven/Kieth are alway professional. Over the last 5 years I have bought 6 bicycle's. Quick on repairs, always friendly. The last 18 month's have been tough on all bike shops. Kman is no exception. Sometime parts are in sometime not. The are very honest to say if a supplier is out of certain items. Everything they sell can be bought on the internet, but that's does zero good for local retailers, or the local economy. Buy local and everyone wins. read more

I needed some running shoes, and they have an upstairs devoted to running gear. Rob took the time to examine my stride and suggested a shoe to work for me. I went home with a men's shoe (yes, I'll admit it - I have big feet!) but after wearing them indoors, decided it was slightly too wide. I called Rob and he happilly ordered the women's version for me...and called me when it was in. Price was the same as what I would have paid online....I checked. What impressed me most was how I received undivided attention each time I went in. My daughter was with me and he also made sure that she was entertained with coloring books & markers. Came back and bought another bike. Once again, I visited every shop in SLO and told them what I was looking for. It was mid summer and it seems that's the time of year when the current model bikes start to sell out and shops are waiting for the next year's models to ship, or so I'm told. I kept being directed to stuff that was twice what I wanted to spend, and very different from what I was looking for. Sent Stephen a message on Facebook asking if he had a plus tire hardtail in stock. Ending up getting a great deal on a lightly used demo. Right price, right bike, and great customer service. Stephen listens to what you want and then goes and finds it. Completely stoked on the new bike and having a blast with it! Next time I'll skip the shops in SLO and come here first. read more

K-Man Cycle and Run is AWESOME. When you shop here you will get great service and possible create friends for life. K-Man and his crew are amazingly welcoming and provide very good advice. The shop is dedicated to the community and is the driving force behind the local triathlon, cycling, and swimming community. I have purchased my Giant TCR and Giant OCR from K-Man with absolutely no problems. They totally stand behind every product they sell. The mechanics always take the time to explain what will be done and the cost is always very clear. I am still waiting for the big screen tv with Tour Replays, a nice leather couch, and the Tap.... but hey that is in the works perhaps. read more

i do not think I can say enough pleasant things about this bike store. Every time I visit, the customer service blows me away. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and most of all do not push you to buy stuff that you do not need. I bought my bike at another bike store, leaving not knowing very much about it, however when I walk out of K Man, I have learned more about my bike in 30 minutes than I did at the previous bike store. They adjusted my bike for free, made sure that it worked properly, and made me feel like a valued customer (something that the other bike store did not do). read more
