We used this company to trim trees early in the summer. They left a mess that took me 2 days to clean up. Not learning our lesson, we called them for an emergency (major limb split) last Friday. They were scheduled to come Wednesday but never showed. We were unable to contact by phone. Today we called another tree company. They were totally booked so THEY called another tree service for us - Evergreen Tree Service. Evergreen came right away and finished in under 2 hours. I cannot recommend KC Arborist. read more

Very disappointed. These guys came very highly recommended by a local lawn-care company that I trust. The receptionist was very friendly. Jody was kind enough to stop by the house for a free-quote... however, once the quote was complete, the rest of the experience went down the drain. I called Jody every day for nearly a week - he would never answer his phone and would return calls at times that were impossible for me to answer. Twice I called him back within 60 seconds and was sent to voicemail... it was maddening. Every call I offered for him to return my calls after business hours (which is when we had originally talked) - he never would do so. One returned message discouraged me from returning his call, as he was planning to attend a baseball game - quite unprofessional! They reluctantly re-assigned my case to Jeff who was equally as bad - the non-committal "we'll call you in 2-4 weeks and let you know when we are coming" scheduling tactic pushed me over the edge. We ultimately found a lovely local company that showed up, quoted and completed the work in a more-than-satisfactory manner and in less than 24 hours - thumbs up to the small local companies that still put customer service first! K.C. Arborist Tree Care should learn a lesson from the "little guys" here in town! read more

Beware! Agree with others.. I wish I could rate at 0. The "service" is borderline with scam. We asked in March for inspection and treatment from ash bore and were told we're "on the schedule" and it will be "a few weeks". We waited and waited.. spring came and went (when treatment is most effective). We called several times and were always told "it will be a couple of weeks" and they will notify us in advance. We started seeing clear signs of infestation which was confirmed by another tree service company. Still, we thought we would get a second opinion. I called KC Arborist in July (!) telling them that IF they do come, to NOT treat the tree as it looks infested, but to talk to me first upon inspection (I work from home and always here). They finally scheduled us in late July, then rescheduled, but never showed us. To our disbelief, we get an invoice in August for inspection and treatment (!!!) Apparently they showed up unannounced when we were out of town and treated the tree anyway! The email from the office manager states that they "found no signs of infestation." Bottom line: Not only they do what you don't need, they do what you specifically tell them NOT to do. One month later, the tree looks terrible and SIGNS OF INFESTATION ARE ALL OVER!!! P.S. The way the "system" works: 1)you will never talk to the owner/arborist, all you get is an answering service that takes messages (and apparently doesn't relay them) 2) all you get in writing is copy/paste email from the "office manager". read more

I just got my trees trimmed after waiting almost 3 months to get on the schedule. They came unexpectedly when I couldn't answer the door and didn't trim the trees much at all. My quote when I originally asked them to come trim the trees was over $800 for one large tree and one smaller redbud. I don't feel like what they did was worth that much. I'll see if I can get them to come back out but not holding my breath. Overall, just go with someone else - I did not like the experience with KC Arborist. Will give them a couple of stars for showing up (although it took forever) and trimming something but that's about it. read more

I hired K.C. Arborist to trim four large trees in desperate need of attention. The positives: The quote process was simple, detailed, and speedy. The price, though more than I expected, was in line with other licensed and insured tree professionals. The trees look good and balanced. I had one small issue but Jody at K.C. Arborist worked with me immediately to resolve the issue so they get a thumbs up for service in that respect. The only negatives: It did take several weeks to get on the schedule and I had to call and send an email follow-up to actually get a date. I think this was in part due to recent storms. Also, wasn't a fan of the answering service. I would hire them again! read more

I tool a few hours off from work the morning we had set up to meet and they were a no show! No phone call or excuse, no anything, just a no show! read more

Used them 2 times at my house and they do a great job. Quotes can be done without having to be there, which is great for work schedules. Pricing is competitive and they do a great job. Couldn't even tell they were at the house with the exception of a removed tree. Would definitely recommend. read more

I hired this company to trim up a tree that had gotten whipped around by a storm. They charged me $350 to trim off one branch, saying it was "disaster" prices. They didn't even trim the tree! They left the tree looking terrible! I would not recommend this company at all. They are deceptive! read more

Mean and nasty! Our huge, beautiful 20 year old tree in our front yard all of a sudden started dying. We love that tree so my wife reached out to KC Arborist for help. Instead of making an appointment he started scolding my wife for not watering the tree enough and basically telling her she killed the tree with her ignorance! We have a sprinkler system and we do water the tree. She called me in tears. We had another arborist come and he was terrific. He said the tree had gurgling roots due to the burlap sack being left on it when it was first planted. There was nothing we could have done to help it. We told him of our experience with KC Arborist and he smiled and said that he gets a lot of business from them because how they treat people. Life is too short to have to deal with jerks. Got an estimate to have them treat our Ash Tree back in March. They put us on a list to have our tree treated in May, once the leaves were done blooming. May came and went. We made several calls to their office and kept hearing that the crews treated areas of the city in groups and they would get to us within the next week or so. The receptionist was very short when we would call. This went on all the way until July. We have now found out that since we are so late in the summer, the treatment is less effective. We have decided to take our business elsewhere and would never recommend this company. Such a disappointment. read more

I was very pleased with the service. After contacting the main office the estimator contacted me within an hour to set an appointment. Same day was scheduled and I had the estimate within an hour of the visit. Because my job was in the busy fall season my job was scheduled out four weeks. The crew was friendly and very professional. The job was completed as expected. They arrived with sufficient equipment and crew. I was especially pleased with the clean up and transfer of debris to the trucks. I would recommend them. read more

I would give them five stars but for one issue: We waited more than two months to get a dead tree cut down. In their defense, weather was not helping, and one week we were on vacation. But when I needed to have surgery and said "this week or never," they agreed. The team was professional, courteous, and thoroughly cleaned up all debris. The stump was ground up well. Super rude and condescending! If I could give them negative stars I would. I called to see about having someone come look at the huge hibiscus tree in my yard, as it seems sick and needs to be trimmed down, away from the house and roof. When Jeff answered he snapped, "what do you want", in an annoyed tone. I went on to explain the situation with my tree, and he basically refused to come out and look at it, because he said he "could just tell me what's wrong with it over the phone", and "it's my fault". Ok? I don't know why I still engaged him at this point, but asked if he could still come by to give me an estimate for trimming it down, because I'm afraid it's going to get worse and possible split down to the trunk if not taken care of soon, and I don't want to lose the whole tree -- to which he replied, "well you can't do anything about it now, it's not like you can just TAPE it back together!". NO SH**T, if I thought tape would magically fix and trim my tree, I wouldn't have called! If he can be that unprofessional and rude/condescending over the phone, I wouldn't trust their business practices. They obviously don't want any new business, so save yourself the time and hassle of dealing with them and take your business elsewhere right away! read more

Crew showed up on time and were very courteous. When they were finished, they cleaned up the area of sticks and debris so well it's like they weren't there at all! Checked with me before they left to make sure everything was to my liking and to thank me for choosing them. read more
