    Salty Dawgs Pet Care

If you are looking for special care for your special needs dog, do NOT hire Salty Dawgs!…read more I have two dogs, one is very friendly and loves everyone he meets (boxer mix). The other is my "special senior" (Shephard mix) who is on three doses of medication every day (prednisone twice a day, and tramadol 3 times a day - which is what I needed Maggie to administer to her in the midday visit (just the tramadol), Monday through Friday. My dog is very mellow and moves very slowly due to the issue with her hind legs Maggie and Andrew came to my house for a meet and greet Maggie told me that due to my dog's special needs, she would be the person to walk her and take care of her, with the exception of Fridays, which she takes off. However, that wouldn't be for a few weeks so she could make sure Andrew knew what was needed to be done before he came by himself. I did find Maggie to be very caring toward my dogs during the meet and greet, I'll give her that, and when they were leaving she did agree to take $3 off per day of her price because I explained to her that I had never paid as much as she was asking for a 1/2 hour visit. At the meet and greet, the first red flag came. I had told both Maggie and Andrew that my dogs were allowed on the furniture. Then my boxer mix (the one who loves everyone) jumped on my couch where Andrew was sitting and tried to get close to Andrew and Andrew's reaction was to turn away and yell out "eww". Well, that was alarming to me. Second red flag...it became clear to me that Maggie did not have experience administering meds because during the first week, she actually called my vet (without my knowledge until after the fact) to find out ways to give my dog pills without her spitting them out. I would think that someone with Maggie's "experience" would have many different options in mind to administer pills. Yet, Maggie, had to call MY VET for ideas. The idea that she felt the need to call my vet for this reason was unbelievable to me. Third red flag (and the worst) was Monday of the second week, Andrew made a visit BY HIMSELF to walk my dogs and give my Shephard her 3 tramadol, despite Maggie's promise to me that he would not be there by himself for a few weeks. I had left the tramadol bottle by itself in the middle of my counter - which is where I had left it the entire week prior, but for some reason, he took the other bottle of medication (the prednisone) which was nowhere near the tramadol bottle and gave her both medications! He contacted me immediately afterward and told me, rightfully so, and, needless to say, I was very concerned and called my vet. Why he gave her two medications instead of one was not explained to me and is beyond my comprehension. Thankfully, the result was not too harmful but this mistake did cause my dog to be immunocompromised. I let Maggie know that I was upset that he came to my house alone, especially so soon, when that was clearly not what I was told would be the case. Maggie told me that they take his mistake very seriously and that Andrew would be "written up". I felt it was now time for me to check out other options for dog care. I posted on FB looking for a new dog walker. Maggie saw it and clearly did not like it. I did feel badly and apologized to her (even though I did not owe her an apology) but she continued to be basically rude and lied about what our agreement was. As a result, Wednesday of the second week was the last day Maggie came to my house. Salty Dawgs has a policy that you pay for their services ahead of time, on Sunday for the upcoming week. So now I am owed money for the two days that I was left with no one to take care of my dogs - at Maggie's doing. I did not cancel, she was apparently insulted that I was looking to replace her. Immediately she disabled the app that she uses for communication (which was another thing I didn't like), and is completely ignoring my requests for a refund. All in all, this was a HORRIBLE experience and I would NEVER recommend them!

Couldn't be more proud of this pup. 6 weeks ago she was everything to me but was also very tough to manage. She was the sweetest dog 1 on 1 but had her special way of going complete berserko any time someone else entered the room. A few weeks ago a photo like this wasn't even worth trying for. She always moved out of frame and could never stay still for more than a few seconds. Marlon of @k9u_ny trained her to become not just more obedient, but a focused presence that is always looking for ways to ensure I'm loved. I feel as though I have a dog that's constantly on the look out for me. It's hard to put into words how comforting that is. It's the whole reason why I got her and after two tough years of losing hope that she'd always be a handful, here she is posing with easy for me to snap a portrait... without even the need for treats. Their service top to bottom is extraordinary. Marlon was always quickly reachable, he provided constant updates, his team was always on point and on their A game. Whether your dog is an intentional Covid pup or an unintentional one like Althea, consider reaching out to Marlon. He will change your dog's life and yours as well. I can't recommend him and his team enough. Althea, I'm looking forward to all of our adventures ahead. Especially now that you're not just a sane dog, but because you've become the best dog. Highly recommend K9 University across the board. They've changed our lives. Thanks again Marlon!

We wanted to teach our dog basic obedience and work on making sure he didn't bolt right out the door whenever he saw the door open. Our dog made a tremendous amount of progress in just six weeks working with *Uncle Marlon*. At this time, we also sprinkled in a bit of day care facility to get August used to socializing properly with other dogs and learning to seperate himself from us On Saturday, for our wedding day, Marlon picked up August at 10:30 from our house and took him to daycare at his facility. He brought him to meet us at our venue at 4 and the took him back to be boarded that evening. We were so excited to have pictures with our baby on our wedding attire and can't wait to see pictures! We picked August up that Sunday ... and boy did he have a great time! 10000/10 for the greeting we got when we picked him up!! The staff is so sweet and makes the dogs feel so at home while they're away from home. We usually send August with his food, treats and a few things from home (toy, bed, blanket). Alyssa sends us pictures and videos of him playing and making new friends. It's the cutest thing ever.
