Disappointing second visit. I placed my order but they forgot my appetizer. That happens. The Karage chicken was undercooked cooked for my liking. I sent it back to receive my pieces with recooked with one missing. The noodles were ok. They weren't very hospitable. Disappointed

Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

Each signature bowl always starts in the wok, where they fire up minced pork, garlic and bean sprouts. Added is an assertive blend of red & white miso, sake and other seasonings. Piping hot broth is then poured over a fresh bed of noodles which melds all the flavours perfectly together to give it that unique Isshin smoky taste with veggies to provide that crunch and sweetness to balance it all. A whopping choice of over 15 different types of ramen, as well as seasonal ramens, flavourful vegetarian and vegan options are available. And although ramen is their cornerstone, you cannot miss out on their appetizers! We gleefully shared chicken karaage, dumplings, donburi bowls, and takoyaki over refreshing Japanese beers and also a hybrid sake and beer drink. Finally, you no longer have to cross the bridge over to Brossard to enjoy a hearty bowl of ramen from @ramenisshin - just head to at their new spot in the Plateau! Although they have 4 locations in ON and 2 in QC, you can expect the same uncompromising attention to detail and quality of food, taste, plating, and service at any of them. The biggest challenge in multi-restaurant management is in making sure that you offer a consistent dining experience across all your locations - they nailed it. Perhaps one of the reasons we keep on coming back? In case you were wondering, Ramen Isshin means one heart one ramen. And the 3 ring symbol represents the 3 founders who complement and complete each other. Koji for creating the menu, Jason for the operation and Adam for the marketing. They all share the same vision, to recreate the best ramen experience one bowl at a time - wherever and whenever you taste it! Note: if you plan to come with a big group, make reservations to ensure seating as space is somewhat limited.

On the outside the restaurant doesn't seem so big but once you walk in, it's another world. There are two side to the restaurant. On the right dining section it's a ramen house. In the left, it's a la carte (but you could still order ramen. A la carte side is what we went with. My friend and I were able to share the different dishes that we ordered: Chicken karaage (so good especially that wasabi aioli) Chicken skewers. Tempura With a side of rice, we enjoyed the food and it was just the right amount for two people to enjoy. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. If you're looking for a place late at night, check this place out. Njoy!

You sit on these high stools almost shoulder to shoulder or back to back to someone you have never met before in your life. You can make reservations for the izakaya online but not the ramen. I had the carbonara udon while the rest of my family had the ramen. We also ordered takoyaki, karage and the side salad. I thought the carbonara udon was a bit too creamy to my liking. You can customize the ramen to your liking, whether it's extra toppings or less sodium which I would try if I was ever around again.
