However, soon after I bought the house, the water heater broke down. Turns out the water heater had never been serviced and it had been installed incorrectly by the previous owner. Of course, the water heater broke down over the weekend. I called Big Sky Plumbing late Saturday afternoon and they told me that they would send a plumber out the following morning, to look at my unit. Ken, came out and diagnosed the situation. He gave me two options: a "BandAid option" or replace the old tankless water heater with a brand new one. The BandAid option is exactly what it sounds like: Repair what appeared to be wrong and hope that the heater didn't break down again. But since the water heater had never been serviced, Ken said there was a possibility that something else would soon go bad on the unit, requiring another service call. I called around and had three other plumbers come out. They all said the same thing... the tankless water heater was bad and needed to be replaced. I finally decided to go with Big Sky Plumbing because they offered the best price for both the installation and the annual service contract in comparison to the other plumbers I contacted. Also, Big Sky Plumbing had the highest certification level by Noritz, which was the brand of water heater I wanted to get. Since the old water heater had been improperly vented into the chimney of the house, the installation of the new water heater was an all-day job requiring Ken and another plumber, Patrick, to drill a hole through the stone foundation of the basement and then rewire and rearrange the electrical, gas line and plumbing line in my basement. At the end, they cleaned everything up, removed the old water heater and gas piping and also sealed up the spot where the previous heater vented into the chimney. At the very end, when I was paying Ken, I mentioned to him that I had a leaky kitchen faucet, and he quickly fixed that as well, no charge. (It just needed some tightening, but it was nice that Ken didn't make a fuss about that, which he could've after the very long day he had had working on this job.) Overall, very positive experience and I highly recommend Ken and Big Sky Plumbing to anyone out there looking to upgrade their water heater.

After talking to Kyle we negotiated the additional price down. Next day I found out from my tennents that they can't attach the hose to the focet because it's visible way close to the wall. Basically it's worst than then a rookie job. Kyle agreed and said he will have someone come to fix it. David asked what and where the problem was, told him our situation, and he brought his ladder to check out our ceiling pulling the fire sprinkler cap off (this where the leak was near) to see what was causing the leak. Then we showed him our bathroom which he did a great and thorough job checking all areas that could be wet. He also ran our shower going back downstairs to see if he could catch any water leaking which he didn't. After about 30 minutes of inspecting he figured what caused the leak and stain through the ceiling was our recent job with our caulking. How embarrassing! It was a huge relief to know we had no actual plumbing or fire suppression system issues. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!…read more I am extremely disappointing by the horrendous treatment lack of accountability and disrespect I have received from this company. I initially contacted them for a bid for a shower install back in Mid November 2018, I agreed to hire them after receiving the bid for a shower installation, to do the install on the 3rd week of November After doing the tear out myself they did not show up when they said they would, I had to contact them in order to be informed they could not make it out and had to reschedule for a week later. After the work was done and I paid in full, 2 weeks later after performing the finish work and sheet rock install around the shower enclosure I found that there was a huge gap between shower wall pieces and the shower base piece. This seemed suspicious so I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer informed me that this was completely wrong and would surely leak if i used the shower. I informed Pacific rooter and plumbing who sent a plumber to come out to assess several days later. That plumber suggested that we simply put Calking on the gap to fix it. THIS IS A COMPLETELY INADEQUATE SOLUTION THAT WOULD LEAD TO FAILURE AND WATER INTRUSION EVENTUALLY AS CONFIRMED BY THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS! I refused this as a solution and they agreed to correctly reinstall the shower. After a week of continued calling emailing and texting to schedule the repair I was informed that they could not come back to work on it until the end of January on Jan 28 a tech from Pacific Rooter and Plumbing came out and instead of correctly reinstalling the shower ended up destroying several of the shower pieces and damaging the sheet rock even worse that what was required to reinstall the shower. I had to call them nearly every day for a week to get confirmation that another replacement shower had been ordered. Finally i got confirmation that an order had been placed through home depot on Feb 7th with an expected delivery date of the 12th of Feb, The home depot order for my replacement shower never came. As per my communications with Pacific Rooter and Plumbing the delivery date kept being pushed back from the12th the the 18th and then the 18th turned into the 22nd and so on and so on. I asked several times for them to provide me with the shipment tracking info since it was so hard to get a hold of them and receive updates. In the mean time I found the same shower for sale through another supplier "Ferguson plumbing" I confirmed that there were 7 in stock in Fresno Ca, a 2.5 hour drive away, this was in mid February. I even went to a local Sacramento Ferguson location myself to look at several showers they had in stock from a previous bulk order for another customer that happened to be damaged. despite informing them that there were showers in stock in Fresno they never went to pick one up. They claimed that they were unable to find the parts through Ferguson and it took me emailing them the confirmation I got from Ferguson for them to acknowledge it as alternative. I continued to call calling their office only to be continually promised that it would only be "a few more days, we will be able to do it next week" I lost trust in their honesty and ordered the correct shower myself through home depot in the beginning of March **The shower I ordered myself through home depot came in a little over a week, yet had minor damage. then I reordered and received another shower in a week and a half!** I promptly installed it in a few hours myself without damaging it like Their tech had done. So far I am out over 3,100 dollars which does not include the time I have spent trying to communicate with this company and help them track down a shower or the extra time and money it will take to fix the sheet rock around the shower they installed incorrectly then subsequently butchered. Our biggest two complaints were they didn't communicate very well and they never stuck to the timelines. We were having a new tub and tile surround installed. We received a quote for one price, but then it kept changing. The original quote included the tub and demo, all the parts, labor and materials (except tile). We did try to cut the cost by doing our own demo and the contractor suggested we pick our own tub, because we could get one we really wanted. So we purchased our own tub, did the demo and purchased all the supplies for tile. The price went down about $150. That seemed off to me, but we shopped around and ultimatly we were told that the price quoted was actually really good. So we didn't question it and moved on. In hindsight I should have done some more research. We were told the job would take 4 days. It lasted 2 weeks. They started Monday before last and everything was completed yesterday. They subcontractored the job to several people resulting in delays. One person did the tub install, another 2 did the drywall and one person for the tile. The tub was installed on that 1st Monday. Then there was no work done on Tuesday or Wednesday, because the drywall guy wasn't available. They kept saying we'll let you know, but they never did. We always had to initiate contact. We had already taken the time off work, so it was really inconvenient to miss those days of work for no reason. The drywall was finally put up on Thursday and hardibacker installed on Friday. The following Monday the tile guy came out. He completed his work by Wednesday. Then the contractor was supposed to come out on Thursday to install the fixtures, but he was busy. He ended up coming out on Saturday. Then we scheduled the drywall guy to come out on Tuesday and finish patching up a hole in the wall. He didn't show up when he was supposed to, so he had to come back the next day. Now that everything is complete we are happy with the end results, but it took way longer than expected. When it came to communication it was like pulling teeth. We always had to initiate contact, because they didn't keep in contact with us. Setting up a time for the job to start was hit and miss. We asked Prashant for a start date, but he never responded. Luckily I had the contractor's cellphone number so I called him. When they did start, time frames we're just guestimations. They would say so and so might come out in this day and then we wouldn't hear from anyone. They also had a hard time communicating with each other. The tile guy thought we bought all of the supplies for the job, but we were told the contractor was going to cover it. We had to run to Rocklin several times to get different tile material. They took some of the material costs off the final total. All and all the work is really nice and they were very reasonably priced. The people we worked with were really nice and very curtious. They just need to improve their communication skills, response time and job completion time frames. We missed a lot of work and had to make last minute childcare plans to accommodate their forever changing timelines.

It was Sunday afternoon, and many of the well-reviewed plumbers were closed. I contacted Drain Time Plumbing, which had a 4.7 avg rating with over 280 reviews and their listing said open 24/7, so I assumed they were good. Their plumber who arrived was Brandon. They provided an estimate of $3700 for the bathtub faucet repair, which included cutting an "access panel" in my stucco wall to get access to the hot water valve for the tub. They said the new "valve" alone was $800. They also wanted to repair the outside main water valve (aka riser) for $3500 by replacing the valve with an "$850" ball valve. When I said I wanted a second opinion on it, they immediately lowered it to $1500. It went from $3500 to $1500 with the mention of the words "second opinion." When I asked if they could just replace the valve from the top, they said it couldnt be done. This was not true. They said we'd either have to close the main water line, or leave the main water line open and let the leaky hot water just gush out til they returned to complete the job, which wouldve been the next day. I asked if there was any way we could stop the hot water without closing the main water line, and they said there was no way. This was also not true. They could've at least closed the valve to the water heater, so that we couldve at least used cold water, toilet, sink, etc. The next morning, Monday, I called Golden State Plumbing. They appeared to have good reviews. Thomas picked up and agreed that everything that was told to me the night before from the other company sounded sketchy. Even though he had other clients before me, he swung by anyway to help us out. It took him 15 mins to fix the bathtub faucet (new cartridge and O-ring), which was done through the top, as it shouldve been done in the first place, and two minutes to fix the lightly leaking riser outside.. just by tightening a nut. Total? $168.00. And to top it all off, the "access panel" was not only unnecessary, but it made no sense to do that except to charge the customer for an outrageous amount. As well as the riser, that did NOT need a new valve with new pipe. My advice to all is be careful out there. I dodged a $7000 bullet thanks to Thomas and Golden State Plumbing. They will be my go-to plumbers moving forward.

They were called by my management company emergently. They came out, cabled the line for 3 hours, decided a jetter was necessary, and left a mess. They recommended I pay them $400-500 to clean up the sewage. They also recommended I pay an additional fee to camera the line, post fix, to diagnose the problem. I did not take them up on these offers. 2 months later I had another backup in the plumbing. I paid another plumbing company to jetter the line. Cam of the line was included in the treatment. It was much more economic. It has been 9 months since they treated the problem. No issues. I asked 3 companies about cleanup services while getting estimates the second time around. I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. All of the companies were in disbelief that I was charged for cleanup of removing a blockage. For the record, the mess was made during the service. It was not there beforehand. I appreciated the punctuality of Taylor. The technicians were nice on the phone. I was thankful they came out emergently. It was a positive experience until they gave me the bill with recommended upcharges at the end.
