Our backyard was a mud pit and needless to say required a lot of work. When we first began looking for landscape contractors, we obtained six estimates before deciding to work with Chris. Chris came out and took his time walking our yard and talked with us in great detail about the drainage system we needed, given that our lot is a good 2 feet higher than the two lots behind us. We found him to be much more knowledgeable and thorough then any of the other contractors we talked to. He also really understood our vision of what we wanted and offered great guidance from his expertise. He communicated wonderfully throughout each job he has done for us. We have hired him 3 times for drainage, irrigation, paving stones, lattice extension on fence, building pergola and building deck for hot tub, built outdoor shower, and put in trees. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but just know he can do it all. We also use his company for regular yard maintenance and have had a wonderful experience with Richard his lawn maintenance guy. Our project was large, involving…read morea new paver driveway, new public sidewalk, new turf install, new concrete and paver pathways, new wooden gates and a re-install of a paver patio. The project took a long time with several interruptions due to weather and permitting with the city. For a while it seemed like the sidewalk repair might not happen, but Juan and Freddie were able to work it out with the city and the new sidewalk looks great. Our new paver driveway looks amazing and has given us way more space. The new retaining wall curves around the corner to the street, which was a detail in the design that I really wanted, and they were able to deliver. So far after a few heavy rainstorms everything seems to be draining properly. The plants and landscaping are starting to fill in and I'm hoping that the plants thrive over the summer after some pretty nasty weather the last couple months. Perhaps the best part of the project has turned out to be the backyard where we replaced the grass lawn with turf and had the paver patio re-installed. It looks really nice and the dogs love it. I love that I don't have to spend hours weeding it and worrying about foxtails in dog feet or noses. There is still one step left before completion, since we ended up having to replace our sewer pipe to the street which left a small section of the paver driveway. Overall Northview did great work on a big job with some complicated permitting requirements. They were always respectful, polite and communicative. I'll definitely contact them again for future work and would recommend Northview Landscaping to friends and neighbors.

He cleared out our hillside which is on a steep slope and had left-over wood from 4-5 tall trees cut down over the last 30 years plus brush that had grown wild. After the first day of clearing out, it was clear that the job was much bigger and taking longer than Jose expected. But to Jose's credit he did not walk away from the job. He came back and finished the job and he did it in a thorough and complete manner. I kept expecting him to take short cuts and rush through it, but he never did. At the end, he told me that he had lost quite a bit of money on the job, but he had given me a price and he would honor it. Given the excellent work and the fact that he honored his commitment to finish the job, I paid him extra even though he never pushed me or insisted on it. With respect to the 1 star review by Ira D below, I can see how Ira might be unhappy. Given the excellent work Jose does at such a fair price, he is very busy. It did sometimes take several days to get a response form Jose or I had to send a follow up message. You can look up J&J Landscape on other sites and see his reviews. On the one I checked (ends in "tack"), he had 22 reviews and a rating of 5 stars.

We sought out their help in finding privacy trees for our deck. They came back with options and an estimate. We agreed on their recommendation... and then everything fell apart. They called the day before install to say sorry we cannot find the trees you wanted (the trees that they recommended and provided a signed estimate for). Then they showed us a variety of too small trees and trees that were incompatible with the sun/shade composition of the area. Finally we found ones that they assured us would accomplish our original goals for privacy. Two weeks late they arrive with 3 foot tall trees that were brown and clearly insufficient for providing privacy. They assured us that these would grow fast and once planted would look better... and now here we are 4 months later with 5 dead 3 foot tall trees that we need to pay a new landscaper to dig up andreplace. What a nightmare... and truly a disappointment. Hopefully this is helpful to the next unsuspecting homeowner.
