My son went in with pretty much zero musical knowledge, could barely keep a beat and never had attempted to read a note or even really play any instrument. Hes progressed to a level where I know in a few months more time he should be able to sight read music easily. The lessons are filled with the level of instruction needed and no minutes are wasted. Be sure to leave time everyday to practice at home, because the more you can progress yourself, the more Mr Burd will be able to teach you, I wish my son could give more time to practice, but even at his level of less than an hour per day, you will see improvement over time. One of the best parts about using Mr Burd as an initial piano instructor is his absolute focus on proper technique and hammering in the importance time after time, some young minds need to be told a few times, and he really makes sure you are 100% competent before moving on to the next important thing. So happy we found a local piano teacher with patience and knowledge!

I told Danny that I wanted to play jazz, which is a pretty complex genre and typically takes some knowledge of music theory and whatever instrument you're learning jazz on. But Danny didn't flinch and got me rolling super quickly. After only 9 months on the piano I've got 4 or 5 jazz tunes under my belt, a clear path forward, and a lot more confidence than I came with. In addition to being an excellent teacher, Danny is kind, patient, and humble -- qualities that are hard to find in musicians who play like he does. He's also got a ridiculous ear and can transcribe a tune or solo for you in minutes. I would recommend Danny for anyone looking to learn the piano, in any genre, and at any stage of development.
