The experience definitely did not disappoint. The theater essentially had three screens surrounding the audience: left, center, and right. However, we noticed that not all scenes actually used the full three screen setup. Only certain significant or impactful moments expanded across all three screens. That was a bit disappointing because we had hoped the format would be used throughout the entire movie. Overall, it was still a really cool experience. The tickets were pretty expensive, around $20 each. I also did not love the seating layout. The screens could get partially blocked when people in the rows in front of us stood up. I have been to plenty of other theaters where the rows are spaced better so that people in front do not affect your view at all. Another downside was the parking. The lot at the Veranda shopping center was really difficult to navigate and finding a spot was a pain. Still, despite those issues, it was a fun and unique experience. That said, I do not think it is something I would need to do for every movie.

Came back on Saturday morning and the theatre where our movie was playing was a WRECK. There was trash everywhere including on our seats. We cleared it out and let them know. I hadn't been to Brenden's in years, more than a decade for sure. But the place provided a satisfactory moviegoing experience. The parking garage in the back of the theater, off Willow Pass Road, offers free parking. The ticket kiosks apparently don't take swiped cards (only tap or insert). Because I had a gift card, I had to be helped at the guest service counter to make my purchase. Not a big deal. Staff was helpful. The lobby was colorful and modern, with two levels of auditoriums and a concessions stand at the center with long lines in the afternoon. There's another concessions stand near the rear auditoriums, which was closed this past weekend while I was there. I opted not to grab any snacks on this day, but I do like that they have self-serve butter dispensers here. There's also a Cinema Cafe attached to the theater serving even more menu items. Inside the auditorium, it was quite spacious, most of the seats toward the bottom front section set up in pairs, even private seating nooks for couples offered along one side all the way to the top. The railing did not obstruct the view of the screen. Sound and picture quality were ideal. The seats themselves were visibly worn (and some even torn). But at least they were comfy, reclining far back with leg rests stretching all the way out.

I'm STILL gloating about this awesome brew fest! I seriously cannot believe that this was my first…read moretime ever attending. It has honestly given me a whole new appreciation for beer. I've really grown a strong love for beer; particularly for wheat, sour, saison, kolsch and pretty much anything on the lighter and less hoppier end. What's nice about this festival is that you get to explore a variety and try so many different beer types. With over 60 different breweries on deck, you won't be able to taste them all. This makes sense as this isn't really the point (well... at least not for most people who come here). You get to try some new beers (some unreleased) and some popular favorites. It's also a great way to discover some local breweries that you may not have heard of before. Went with a group of friends and we had an absolute blast. The line to get in looked pretty long when I first arrived, but it moved seamlessly once they opened the gate around noon. We were greeted with a souvenir glass and made our way to the beer stands. The big names like Lagunitas and Russian River Brewing weren't present, but most people have either tried their beers or at least heard of them before. They're so big now that they really don't need to "advertise" at brew fests at this stage of the game. We tried LOTS of beer and for the most part, it was all pretty tasty. There were a few that really stood out to me that I have to mention because they were so damn good! *Old Caz Beer Orange Crush Imperial Sour: INSANELY scrumptious! Went back three times for this and ended up finishing the last of it. I have never heard of an Imperial Sour before but absolutely LOVED it. It's like a slightly sour, nutty, crispy, and fruity flavor. Looked up Old Caz immediately and found out that they're in Rohnert Park. Already planning on visit their brewery soon! *Canyon Lakes Brewery G.I.R. Cucumber Wheat: Sooo refreshing!!! That cucumber though! Geezus! It was like heaven in my mouth. I would sip this down so quick on a hot day. This brewery is located on a golf course in San Ramon, so I already know that I'll be there soon to check it out. *Bartlett Brewing Invoking the Muse Mixed Ferm Saison: Amazing! A very oaty and wheat forward Saison which a smooth finish. Something that I'd easily order at a pub or brewery if I saw it on the menu. Also really enjoyed Firestone Walker's Cali Squeeze Blood Orange Hefeweizen and a lovely triple IPA from a brewery that I can't remember. Had sooo much beer, but these were ones that truly stood out to me. They had a good amount of food trucks out but my friends and I ended up dining at the Old Spaghetti Factory instead. When the event in 4 hours long, it makes sense to eat before, spend most of the time drinking, and then eating afterward to get the most bang for your buck. Although I must mention that I didn't have to pay to enter this year, thanks to my free ticket from Yelp East Bay! Woot woot! The live music was great and we met some really cool people. At one point, one of my friends starting serving beer to the other patrons. It was funny to watch but she was enjoying herself. The weather was great too which was awesome since it's been raining like crazy lately. All in all, I'm impressed! I have some new breweries to check out too now and I'm excited to make my way there. I will definitely be back next year and hopefully every year after that. Such a great local brew fest!

Love the Hop Grenade home brewery tent too. Always buy the shirt. Since we cannot drive after slapping down 40 small beers (if we haven't taken an uber) we'll go to Spaghetti factory and get some ice cream for a bit. Super fun, very well run and one of the best beer festivals in California.

High class service? Jazz band playing in every train car with speakers interconnected? We came expecting nothing and ended up having an incredible experience with beautiful decorations well suited for a sweet, memorable Christmas train experience. Online reservations were simple, easy to obtain, and a lot more affordable compared to the exorbant Polar Express tickets. We're extremely happy that we chose this over Sacramento's Polar Express. It's obvious that their staff spent a lot of time putting work into the trains inner and outter decor - beautiful and creative! Parents and adults FYI - on your way to your reserved train car, there's a small bar after boarding the train. It's very important to load up on your magic drinks before heading to your seat. (Drinks.. not drink! But drink responsibly, of course.) Parking isn't far and although limited, it shouldn't be a problem with reservations handled appropriately. We sang a few Christmas songs with the elves, threw snowballs at the grinch (best part, IMO), met Santa, and had a little fun at Santa's (little) village after the ride. Every sip of their hot cocoa (included with your tickets) was warming and delicious, perfect for cold weather. Couple of cookies came along with it, perfect for our kids to snack on. Overall, this was an incredible experience for our kids! Service was fantastic, ambiance was very jolly and felt like home, staff members are very friendly, and the experience is fantastic for all occasions - family, friends, and dates! Absolute Disaster on the River Fox Train - Throw Mama from the Train! I wish I could throw myself from the train after this trip. What a complete mess. The AC was completely broken, turning the entire car into a sweaty sauna. They were "cooling" things by keeping bags of ice on the floor that quickly turned into lukewarm puddles. Of course, that meant the beer and water were all warm too. Nothing says "premium train experience" like sipping hot beer while sweating through your clothes. The charcuterie boards were a total scam. The menu looked great, but what actually showed up was a sad, half-empty version with tons of items missing. Ingredients didn't match the description at all. Then, when people started complaining, they announced free food... but only for passengers who didn't order the charcuterie boards. That's fantastic if you're part of the 10% who didn't order one. For the 90% of us who did? Tough luck. To top it off, our car didn't receive any food service until about 30 minutes before arrival. We paid for a nice experience and basically got a rushed, incomplete plate right as we were pulling in. The only bright spot was our server Ashley. She was running around like crazy in that heat, hustling hard and staying positive when everything else was falling apart. She deserves a medal (and a better employer). Save your money and skip this train. Not worth it.

I returned for the first time in 15 years and can honestly say not much has changed. The place is decently clean for the most part, but I did notice that the cup holders in front of my seats had spider webs all over. Later on during the show I was attending, the spider came out I ended up having to kill it. I think the lack of up keeping has been due to a noticeable decrease in ticket sales. I attended a rock concert that hosted 8 bands, half of them big names and the place failed to sell at least 40% of the tickets. I believe that was due to the economy and also the fact the concert was taking place on a Sunday. Regardless, this place has some places to pick up on. The pricing was interesting, some food was expensive as you'd expect but there were hidden gems like a $12 free refill soda cup and also $2 hot dogs. I also appreciated the fact we could bring in practically unlimited sealed water bottles and an electronic spray fan with no issues. What was a huge difference compared to my prior experience was that ushers didn't ticket anyone in the seating areas, probably because there were so many empty ones and also a lot of people were trying to escape the heat/sun. Overall, I had a decent experience this time around. Staff were friendly, parking was free, and unlike most venues, you can actually find a surprisingly good deal for food and drinks. Came here to leave a review about A Christmas Carol and was surprised, but not surprised, to see…read moreseveral negative reviews for it. It was the worst play I have ever seen in my life! We have been coming to see A Christmas Carol at Lesher Center for the Arts for at least 10 years now. It has always been the exact * same * play, one that was known and loved by many, if not all. This year's new adaptation was so bad that we actually walked out early. I'm going to go ahead and mention the elephant in the room here. There were way too many wheelchairs in this play. There were 3-4 wheelchairs on stage at any given time and we found it really distracting. Tiny Tim was zooming around the stage in his electric wheelchair which doesn't fit into 1800s London. So there was a lack of period accuracy with this adaptation. It might have been acceptable for Tiny Tim to be in a wheelchair (but only him) IF his acting wasn't atrocious. This kid was terrible. He had no acting skills and seemed to have no interest in playing his part. It seems like he was selected for the part only because he was in a wheelchair. Next, the actor playing Ebenezer Scrooge is an old white guy but as he looks back on his life, they have multiple ethnicities playing Scrooge as a little kid, school age boy, and then a young adult. Each version of him was a different ethnicity. There was a serious lack of continuity with his character, which was really confusing if you didn't already know the story and know which part these people were supposed to be playing. They also had the same actors playing multiple parts in the play. For example, the Filipino Scrooge (who played him as a young adult) and his love interest were playing the part of the aunt and uncle later on in the play. Again, if you didn't already KNOW the storyline, this would be really confusing as to why Scrooge was acting the part of the uncle later on. Another example - the ghost of Christmas Past was a beautiful African-American woman who leaves Scrooge at the top of the stage to go to the bottom of the stage and play his sister when he was a kid. Then she walked back up the stairs and played the part of the Ghost of Christmas Past again. Really confusing. My 10-year-old daughter was totally lost and had no idea what was going on with the characters. Finally, the Ghost of Christmas Future USED to be a 20-foot-tall black ghost figure that silently came out on the stage. Now, they rolled out an actor in (you guessed it) a wheelchair with a black sheet over his head. We were like "Really? Is that the best they could do??" They threw a sheet over this guy's head like he was a 5-year-old! And the ghost was so rude and criticizing Scrooge the whole time (he's not supposed to talk). It was so, so bad. That's when we got up and left finally, although I had wanted to leave during intermission but had hoped it might improve some if we stayed. It didn't, it only got worse. It felt like the director was taking a cheap shot at hiring so many actors in wheelchairs, because what critic or reporter is going to watch it and criticize a play with multiple disabled people in it?? They're not going to do that, so it felt like the director used an underhanded method to force positive reviews from critics. Yet we were not the only ones leaving during the middle of the play - multiple people walked out before us. I'm all for diversity in acting, but at least keep the characters consistent. Scrooge didn't need to be played by four different ethnicities. That also seemed like an intentional cheap shot by whoever does the hiring. In years past, when Tiny Tim passed away, my daughter and I were always near tears because we were so engaged with the play and felt sad for him. This year, the actor was so bad that when he "died" we felt nothing, because it all just seemed so fake and bad. Sad to say, we will NOT be returning to this play ever again if it remains in this format. The worst piece of garbage I have ever seen. I wish I could get my $250 back.
