We rented a pontoon boat from JFF last Sunday. The staff was friendly and helpful! We had a small glitch in trying to find our name on the rental reservation sheet, so be sure to note the time, date and person's name you speak with, when making your reservation. We happened to be on the page for speed boat rentals, so it wasn't there. However, Melissa, who we made the reservation with us on the phone, stuck with us, and we did find it, back on the other page; be sure to specify the Type of boat your requested, and I think things will go Very smoothly, as JFF rentals does want you to enjoy your day on the lake! We got our verbal instructions, and a very new, clean, and comfortable pontoon boat! remember to bring music, as they are not equipped with radios(this boat was'nt, others may be). Our day on the lake was great, in every way! We will definitely rent from JFF again. Be sure to call or reserve online, as they are a popular business. Customer service, equipment and location are great. read more

Amazing. Ive decided I want to be a beach bum. This is a bit of a problem considering I live in the middle of land locked texas. Imagine my amazement when after 20 plus years of living here some kind soul took me out on a boat.I fell in love. Now Im a chicken . Our boat went 25 miles an hour..and I screamed and giggled the whole way. I would like to spend like 1 day a week on a boat, and I think then I would be truly happy. Thanks for the pontoon heads up, Sarah M. Apparently my group paid in the hundreds for the same amount of time for a slightly faster boat that could fit less people. Im going there as soon as I can get enough people and pitch in 50 more bucks. Beach bum, here I come! read more

We reserved a party barge for my bachelorette party this weeked. When we got there we learned that they had double booked the boat and we would not be given the boat we were promised. There were two barges docked at the time, and though we were there first, we were told we would not be accomodated. Instead they gave us 2 Pontoon boats and no drivers. For a bachelorette party. I was floored at how irresponsible JFF was. We had no experienced boat drivers and plans for celebratory drinking. Our plans were ruined because JFF has one or more incompetent staffers, who seemed to to care very little and hate their jobs. Why even work there? I'm grateful for the few employees who went out of their way to help us out, but the damage was done. I'm really disappointed in the company. BUYER BEWARE, if you reserve a boat, confirm with them more than a few times before your big day. read more

I've used Just For Fun several times over the past few years and they never disappoint. The prices are pretty reasonable. I've rented their party barges, pontoon, and ski boats. If you have never driven a boat, they will give you a quick one on one orientation. Their prices are online. You can reserve online or over the phone. read more

I rented a pontoon boat when a friend from LA came to Austin to show off Lake Travis. All afternoon I could only think to myself this is what life is meant to be like all the time! This place overflows with hunky super professional, intelligent boat safety experts. read more

This place is good, only problem is jet skis seemed to not have as much power as they should. I could only get the ski up to about 40MPH . I am used to doing anywhere from 60-65. They seemed dated, but for just cruising the lake they will do. The prices are good and its a fun couple of hours. read more

Had a blast! Everyone was nice and it was easy and reasonable. Staff was flexible and accommodating. We can't wait to go back, they allowed us to extend our stay since we were Having such a great time! read more

We rented two jet skis for Labor Day weekend as we were planning to visit our old college stomping grounds from Houston. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation with 4 days notice due to hurricane Harvey. Unbelievable that Just for Fun refused to refund the deposit and instead profit on the others. Meanwhile, other businesses across the state are going the extra mile to help those of us in Houston. Will not be going back for future rental needs. read more

Online reservation system great! The ladies behind the desk were efficient and nice. Great, informative guys checking out the boats. Nice boats and wave runners. A very cool time on LBJ! read more

The best rates and the most flexibility! Just booked another boat rental for next weekend! I highly recommend.

Great service. The guys helping out on the boat were great. We were even able to switch from a pontoon boat to a speed boat halfway through the day. Great day on lake travis! read more

The boat cruise only goes about half a mile away from the original starting point. This is annoying. They should cruise somewhere else. We were hoping we would cruise somewhere else. We had fun swimming next to the boat. They made burgers which was great. For the price, this is a good time. read more

You know by looking at all my reviews I never write about anything, but restaurants... When service is this horrific, I feel like I must warn others of what I had experienced. The young girls at the front desk hates their job and hates you. The manager doesn't even care if they are giving you an attitude. I'm sure the all the girls working there don't get along with each other because they give each other cold stare when one ask for a favor. I felt very uncomfortable. Also, the girl that was helping my bf and I left in the middle and asked another girl to help us and this is when I witness the tense environment they work in. They had a little argument. They didn't honor a coupon our party had. There are no disclaimers... so WHAT THE F?! "Ya'll are giving me a hard time." We were being nice, but in the end we intentionally did. However, the guys that went over the guidelines were much more nice and lighten the moods. $80 per hour. $3 per minute after your time is up. So set your watch... there is a little storage to store cameras and other stuff. I would recommend using the lockers they have to store your stuff. If they were rude to you, then vote for my reviews. They need customer service 101!!! read more

Service always sucks from the front desk who are always young women with attitudes. The guys who help explain rules and load you on are always cool. This is my 3rd time going and this is how it has always been. They don't like to honor coupons when there are no disclaimers regarding usage, and they don't like splitting parties just to save a few pages of paperwork. If there is a line then I understand, but when there is none then just do your job that you're paid to do. Calling me cheap because I wanted to use a coupon doesn't help the situation when I'm super nice to you answering all of your questions with a yes ma'am with please and thank yous. read more

We are from out of town and thought this would be fun to book when we were visiting Dallas. Boy, were we wrong! We were all from out of town and were hesitant to book and get rained out. Their weather policy is that they'd give us our deposit and a gift card which is useless for people from out of town. They assured us the weather in May wouldn't be an issue. Rained the entire morning/afternoon and now the company will not give us any of our money or the gift card. It's been over three weeks and they still have not refunded any amount. Cannot recommend this company. read more

This place is awesome! They are very friendly and provide great service. Johnathan is very knowledgeable about the boats and is very accommodating. Any time I rent a boat it will be from here! read more

What a scam! Bought a coupon last year for a half off rental...we bring the boat back in and they claim we "bent the propeller". We never once came close to hitting anything, but they charged my card $100...What a joke. read more

They are a bunch of crooks.. Never ever go there. I had rented a ski boat from them.. At the end of the ride, they said I had knicked the propeller and made me pay 185$ to get a new one.. After seeing the propeller I felt that might be something I could have done, so I paid for it and left..Although I noticed nothing out of the ordinary during my ride.. Next day they call me and said I had damaged the bottom of their boat.. And I needed to pay them $2000.. My ride during the entire time had no problems, I am sure I would have noticed if the bottom of the boat was damaged..Anyways they threatened to take me to court , after I did not budge , they let it go knowing they had no case.. Avoid these guys at all cost!!! read more

First off, the employees were rude and liked rolling their eyes. They charged us for a "damaged" propeller and made us buy a replacement. When we asked them if we could keep the old propeller, since it was no longer any good, they said no, that they were going to fix it. So why did we need to buy a new one for them if they could just fix the one we supposedly broke??? As if paying $150 for a ski boat rental wasn't enough. So they got to make an extra $100 plus tax for a part which cost $40 to buy and nothing to replace. Since the employees are on an hourly wage, they don't get paid anything extra to install. It took them 5 minutes for them to install it, so there was no need for us to paid parts and labor. You're better off going somewhere else. read more

Just For Fun...Worst customer service! Rented a 24ft pontoon boat on May 17, 2010 for Aquapalooza on July 10, 2010 online. Had to pay in full to confirm the reservation. Decided to call on June 30 to double check that my reservation was still valid. Unfortuately, I was told that thei online booking was through a third party and the software had a glitch and allowed the boat to be double booked. I was never informed that the third party cancelled my reservation until calling on June 30. The manager made excuses and was very unprofessional. He never accepted responsibility but instead blamed it on the third party. Funny thing is, when the booking company supposedly cancelled my reservation, Just For Fun didn't even bother refunding my money! They were aware my reservation was cancelled but didn't give me a refund until I called. This place is a joke! Unprofessional and incompetant! Now my party of 12 have no boat for Aquapalooza! Thanks for ruining our weekend Just For Fun!!! read more

The worst customer service you would expect . Things here ain't cheap and they treat you like trash.

I just rented a boat from here last weekend and this was maybe my 6th time to use Just For Fun. The staff is fine, not really friendly but they're not rude either so no harm there. I think this is the most reliable place to get a reasonably priced boat on Lake Travis as long as you make a reservation like any normal person would. read more

Just for Fun now automatically charges every customer $100 for "propeller damage" I had the same experience as several other recent reviewers. JFF tried to charge me $108.00 for a supposedly 'damaged' prop. The owner told me if it was his personal boat, he would just fix the prop but since I supposedly damaged the prop, he had to replace it. The guy is rude, obnoxious and a crook. Don't do business with these people read more

My experience here ranked top of the list on my worst rent a boat experiences. Customer service I had was mainly with one guy whom was ignorant about customer service, he did not greet, smile, or even advertise for his place, and he went on to be so rude, that made me just want to leave the place ( As after we signed all the papers and paid our rent fees, and waivers, etc... and this is a part that all renters hate I am sure and he did not make it any easy like some places do, we went to inspect the boat, and then he was asking me to touch the propeller in the water with my hand to make sure that it is not scratched, and I said it is ok I got it, and he kept insisting that I touch it or else he would not rent me the boat! ) I thought that this is disrespectful and lacking on customer service satisfaction, then now when I am reading Sam P review, I understood that this might have been why, but none the less, for someone paying $300 for 2 hours you have got to make this a fantastic experience so they would return or at least make referrals, and this is definitely not the way to achieve that. It is probably worth mentioning here that on the good side of it, it was because of this bad experience that I bought my own boat so I would not have to rent again! read more

Dirty boat. Broken gas gauge. Staff who don't care to resolve customer issues. I rented a ski boat on 4/19 and while on the lake the gas tank showed empty. I quickly went to the nearest marina to refuel. Upon refueling I was only able to put in a couple of gallons and realized that the gas gauge was broken (after I'd spent $45 on gas). When I returned to the rental location I explained what happened and they stated they could not do anything to help (including reimbursing me for the fuel cost). Their answer simply was "those gas gauges break all the time." I asked to speak with a manager - she said she was the manager. Further, the floor of the boat had visible dirt and shoe marks. The cooler provided on the boat was equally dirty with standing water in it. AVOID THIS PLACE! There are higher rated places on Lake Travis (I am not affiliated with any of them and won't list any by name). read more

"I'm on a boat! I'm on a boat! Take a good hard look at the m'f*ckin' boat!" was what my fiance kept singing/shouting as we sped across Lake Travis on our tiny little jet-ski. It was pretty freaken adorable. JFF offers a wide variety of boat rentals: wave-runners, ski-boats, pontoon boats, and, of course, our crazy pal Fred, the 2-story party boat. On this particular occasion though, I only wanted to rent a couple of jet-skis for us and another couple. Although the website claims you can reserve rentals online, the page starts acting funky when you try, so you're better off giving them a call. They're really friendly about it anyway -- they'll ask what day and time you want to head out, what you'd like to rent, how long you'd like to rent, etc... For jet-skis, it's $75/hour. Make sure you show up 15mins early before your reservation to fill out the necessary paperwork. They also have small lockers you could rent out for 25 cents, so feel free to bring your wallet/purse, towels, sunscreen, or whatever else you can squeeze in there. If there's anything you absolutely HAVE to bring, it's your ID -- they'll need to make a copy of it if you want to drive (and who doesn't?!). When you're ready to go, an employee will give you a *very* thorough tutorial, make you initial 120980997 safety waivers, then they'll let you loose. I've been jet-skiing before. I've also flipped over on a jet-ski before. I was pleasantly surprised to find that JFF's jet-skis aren't prone to flipping, even when I let my speed-demon fiance take the wheel. I was comfortably cruising around 20mph, but our friends were punchin' nearly 50mph and they still didn't flip (which they were pretty bummed about; can't imagine why). If you're like me and only half-assedly listen to instructions, just remember a few key things: 1. STEER CLEAR of other boats. 2. If you have to get close to another jet-ski or boat, idle up ALONGSIDE it -- don't come up to it head-on or behind it. 3. Keep in mind, there are NO brakes or reverse. 4. Also keep in mind, there are police patrolling the Lake that will pull you over. I honestly can't wait for the day they install clocks on jet-skis' speedometers because it was a pain chasing down other boats to ask for the time. Bring a waterproof watch if possible, because it'll run you $3/minute if you go over. Ouch. read more

my experience with just for fun rentals was pleasant enough: making the reservations, bringing your own music to play on the CD player, docking and swimming. my only hesitation (and reason of giving 3 out of 5 stars) is their recommendation for margarita machines/beer. they gave me the name of boris, who at the time i placed the order, was nice enough: he walked me through the needed alcohol amounts, generator issues etc. however, the day of my party barge, the employee assigned to my boat was less than helpful. he was rude on the phone when i asked about the machine sticking (we didn't talk while he was setting up). a simple check in would have been appreciated. overall, just for fun is an A+; but i would suggest looking at the company they keep. read more

Just for fun has given me a great boating/jet ski experience each time I've been. Give them a call to ask questions and find out their availability, and they will work with you to book a boat or Jet ski. Owning a boat is so expensive, so renting is a great option. The refund/cancellation policy seems fair. I'd advise paying attention during your safety briefing if you don't have a lot of experience operating a boat- they will tell you what you need to know to stay safe and have a good time! Thankfully this summer lake Travis has plenty of water, so get out there on that beautiful lake and rent from just for fun! read more

I visited from California and accidentally left my driver's license at their front desk, but did not discover this until next day at the airport. We rented a party barge for the Saturday of memorial weekend for 4 hours. it was so much fun and the staff of the boat were great. Once on the boat after the safety briefing, they took us to any spot we wanted to go in Lake Travis. It was our first time driving a boat AND a water ski. FUN!! We brought our dog along, and it was his first time swimming out on a lake too! I had the time of my life with my friends who came to visit from New York. We rented the deluxe speedboat and split our three hours between tubing and water skiing. The rate was 85 an hour plus a five dollar insurance fee which covers damages up to two thousand dollars. I question the sanity of those who do not pay the extra 5 bucks. Overall, it worked out to about $65 a person. Back to the boat and the lake, I was worried because of the depths of Lake Travis. However, as long as you stay near the cliffs, you will be in at least 40 feet deep water (110 being the deepest we saw). The boat was great by my standards. It does it's job and they allow you to bring on beer for those who aren't driving. Between the boating, the views, and the music, it was nothing short of amazing. Definitely will be coming back soon. read more

We go every year. We always have a fun time. Very interesting to see the changes in the water levels over the years. This year they suggested taking us out to Arkansas Bend Park. Don't go. I used to go to Lake Travis and rent Jet Ski from Just For Fun with my friends. But this time was very different, it was with my fiance who was visiting the US for the first time. We arrived to Just For Fun and were welcomed by Albert who quickly arranged everything to us and gave us very clear instructions on how to operate the Ski Boat. We spent two interesting hours and, if we had more time, we would have extended to at least 4 hours. Since then, I am trying to visit on Tuesdays as they have specials (rent one hour get one hour free). It was fun. read more
