My family has all good experiences here. We've rented from them 4 or 5 times, initially getting a pontoon boat and more recently we've enjoyed the ski boats. They've offered some really good Groupons in the past, like buy a few hours and get a few free. Their cancellation policy is strict, and if you need to do that, you'll only get the option to reschedule time that you have to use within a year. Although, we originally booked the ski boat for 4 hours this past weekend, but when we got there, the let us pay for two hours initially. They said if we were having fun and wanted to extend by 30 minutes or an hour (up to 4 hours total), we could give them a call and that was totally fine. The insurance option is up to you. You pay $5 an hour to have insurance of the boat. This means that you aren't responsible for damages over $500, but you would still pay UP TO $500 if something were to happen. The example they gave us was someone driving the boat onto shallow rocks, and the damages totaled $15,000, but they only had to pay $500. We opted into it and paid $10 extra for the two hours, but fortunately didn't end up needing the insurance coverage. The guy who gave us instructions on how to operate the boat was very thorough and helpful. We all felt comfortable driving the boat after his 5 minute pre-boating talk. There are two restrooms on their site, and you have the option of coming back there if you needed to use the restroom while on the boat... there are other options too we all know of... Overall, the staff are helpful, the reservations are easy to make, and it's super fun to be out on the boat in Lake Travis with the sun shining down on us. read more

Great company to rent boats from. I've rented all types of boats from them--pontoon, ski boats, and jet skiis--and I've never had an issue with the equipment or the company. They do a thorough job with inspection prior to renting the equipment and after. Honest company to rent from. I rent equipment from them every summer. One year our boat was running a little slow and they gave us extra time on the lake because of their boat. I actually don't rent from other places anymore because this place is great. read more

Came here for Memorial Day weekend and rented out a pontoon with some friends. Sadly the group that rented the boat before us ended up coming back an hour late! However, the workers were very considerate and did everything they could to reach out to the boat to try to get them to come back. Booked a party barge through this place and it was a blast! Everyone seriously had so much fun and the stuff was super great! We had great captains and booking was super easy. We brought our own food, keg, and other items to drink and were able to make a playlist and play through an aux cord. Also had the ability to charge my phone. This place was great. Their website was easy to book and it explained everything very well. We did the early bird special with a pontoon boat. My uncle and I split the price for my moms birthday and she LOVED it! We plan on doing it again soon, possibly with a party boat, and every year for her birthday. The staff was so great. I have horrible social anxiety and it was packed inside, so I was a nervous wreck when I was checking in and out, but the girls behind the counter was amazing and so sweet. Too much fun! We went last weekend and had the time of our lives! Me and the ladies rented a ski boat from JFF and booking and check-in was easy breezy.. Ski boat fits 8-10 people. really spacious and we boarded 5 girls and was plenty of extra room. We brought along survival kit consisting of water..vitaminwater.doritos..champagne...rum..salami..prosciutto..cheese...sliced pears and apples which is really refreshing in the sweltering heat.. We rented the boat for 4 hrs.. so make sure u bring cds..sunscreen or tanning oil.. towel for later in the car..chapstick bc ur lips will buuurrrnn..hair tie if ur a girl..sunglasses..and sanitary hand wipes..and ur good to go. Only downfall was that our boat didnt have an anchor (which it was suppose to be equipped with) and we had to wait an hour for an employee to bring us one.. twirling in the middle of the lake on neutral in front of all the other boats bc none of us wanted to navigate the boat bc it was drinking time!!! But once ur their its so lively..drunk civilian..semi drunk civilians.. under the influence civilians (if u know what I mean..) .boats..and barges left and right and when ur tired u can set up shop and park ur boat next to other boats. Once that's done u dance the day away like some.. or tan on the deck.. meet ur neighbors.. or just dive right into the water.. (it's also equipped with swim vests for non-swimmers..me..) Also few years back we rented a party barge in Conroe with JFF accommodating 50 people. It was so cool.. and u can also grill stuff.. and rent jetskiis along with the barge... We rented jetskiis for friends who were late to the party and we had to scooped their asses up from check-in office. Cool thing about the barge is that there is a person navigating the boat and a restroom. So at least u know ur friends aren't pissin' in the water ur swimming in... ahhaha.. we made that the rule of the day... Trust me on this.. If u haven't done this yet... u must!!! u wont regret it.. read more

My family rented a boat over the weekend! Everyone was very friendly. The boat was in good shape and we had a lot of fun!

One of the reasons why I keep coming back is because of their availability. I've rented from them three times and they haven't failed me yet. They can be slightly more expensive then other places, but their boats are well kept and they do an excellent job at going over equipment, safety, and navigation through the lake. Be sure to get there early, so the walk-through doesn't take up some of your boat time. Two things to watch for: They will check your cooler for glass bottles, so bring cans or plastic containers for you liquor. Also, you can't cancel a reservation, you can only reschedule. I tried canceling a reservation less than an hour after placing it and they wouldn't go for it. Even though I was still 9 weeks away from it, they wouldn't go for it. In my case, my head count was off, so no one to blame but myself. read more

Yesterday, seven of us boarded a pontoon boat loaded with snacks and drinks. We were excited to spend time together on the lake cruising, eating, drinking and chatting. There was a lot of wind. Key word: WIND. We cruised out of the bay area and headed towards the open lake. There was a lot of WIND. The waves were lapping at our boat and we were rocking back and forth and back and forth. No one warned us about the difficulty of steering or even passengering a pontoon boat in the WIND. The other problem we had as we started out was an off balance pontoon which caused the boat to tilt to the left creating constant water to splash into the boat. During our cruise we found a cove and several of us swam a bit but the WIND made it too chilly. We had our snacks, some drinks and decided to head towards Hippy Hollow. I mean, what's time on the lake without a gander at the naked boys?!?! As we headed back, the waves became more and more choppy due to the WIND and, now, a great amount of water was splashing into the boat. This was buckets of water not drops of water. Because of the WIND. We decided at that point to take the boat back and cut our losses. When they checked us in, apparently our propeller was knicked and we were charged $100. They gave us a credit for the remaining hour and a half but, really, I don't know if we will be back. I think two things should have happened differently: 1) For God sakes, sailor, tell us how ridiculous it is to take a pontoon out in the WIND, and 2) Charge us exact costs for reparing those tiny nicks. $100? STAY AWAY or pray it doesn't rain!!! In Austin for a bachelor party, obviously we thought it would be fun to rent a boat on Lake Travis. Unfortunately the day we planned to rent, thunderstorms hit Lake Travis. Within the contract, if it rained we would be able receive a full refund. We call Just For Fun and they state we have to be at their facility (30 minutes away from Austin) to receive a refund? So we load up in the truck, drive out to Lake Travis as a pit stop on our way to Salt Lick. The two employees would not agree to refund our money, despite us all receiving flash flood warnings on our phones 15 minutes after our planned four hour reservation? These guys are crooks and their business should not be supported, stay away. read more

I rented a houseboat for the 4th of July weekend plus one day to include the 4th. I picked it up on Friday morning without too much difficulty. They were busy, it was after all going to be a busy weekend. After an hour of waiting for the driver to get the houseboat to where we were taking it....about 200 yards from the office....we were all set. It was relatively clean, about what I would expect for a rental. 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. We rented the houseboat as an extension to our cabin right across from Carlos 'n Charlies for family members to sleep in for our annual 4th of July Party. The walk from the cabin to our dock right now is about 300 yards, so having an air conditioned place to go to with bathrooms and a kitchen was just the ticket. And it was great until one of the toilets stopped functioning. 20 people now sharing 2 bathrooms - one up at the cabin, and one on the houseboat. Not an ideal situation. So, I called the nice people at Just For Fun to have them come 200 yards to the houseboat to see why we couldn't get the toilet to flush. I called 20 times at 5:30pm before I got thru and then was immediately placed on hold for 17 minutes before I hung up. I was, after all entertaining 100 guests. I called back about an hour later to be placed on another 10 minute hold before I hung up. The third time I called I had to tell the young lady that I would not hold and she was a little miffed and said, "I can only talk to you if you have a really quick question." I quickly explained the situation and was told that they were really busy but would inform the manager and someone would be out that evening once they slowed down. Fine. I understand they were busy, and it wasn't a pressing matter, it could wait until they slowed down. I'm sure they were dealing with lots of stupidity that happens during the holiday weekends and too much alcohol. No one showed. No one called. The houseboat stuck from the toilet. 8 people slept on the boat with that smell. I called the next morning, and was told someone would be over shortly. No one showed. No one called. When I called to have the houseboat returned and explained that no one ever showed up to fix the toilet. I was told, "I understand your frustration, but we are really busy. It is a holiday weekend." To which my response was, "4th of July comes the same time every year. I would think that a business such as yours would plan for the craziness and hire enough people to take care of all your customers. I spent $4000 on a houseboat that was anchored 200 yards from your office, and it was too difficult to send someone over to fix a toilet?" I was told the manager would call me. I still have not heard from any one at Just for Fun. read more

There was a cooler filled with drinkable goodies and loud speakers blasting out our iPod's choice. If you've got a group ready for fun, hire these guys. Your boat, which looks more like a 2-story barge, comes equipped with a water slide (that dumps you directly into the lake) and a grill. Came out here on a Monday afternoon with my family. We rented a pontoon boat for 1 hour. (On the weekends it's a 2 hr minimum rental). The boat can fit up to 12 people but there were just 4 of us. The rental was 10% off because it was between Mon-Thurs. overall we had a great experience. Filling out the paperwork went smoothly and the staff thoroughly explained how to drive the boat. The weather was overcast and the water was calm. Perfect day to go out on lake Travis. I recommend coming here early and on a weekday. You will have minimal wait. Want to attempt to avoid head-on collisions with other pleasure craft due to your woefully inadequate ship piloting abilities? Then throw down some cash and strap yourself in - you're now the captain and this party boat ain't hoppin' until the anchor be droppin'. I mean... I guess you could party while the boat is in motion but that seems problematic... Renting a craft is easy. Some might say... too easy. I'm not entirely sure I will always trust every person on the lake with what is essentially a torpedo made of wood, fiberglass and metal, but that's beside the point. The boats, being rentals, show their age... but for the most part they are well maintained and functional. When a friend invited us to join his scurvy crew for a party on the lake (featuring a Just for Fun pontoon boat), we had to. After six attempted boardings by drunken boaters, five fish bites, three angry birds of indeterminate type, and roughly a thousand gallons of beer drank, the day ended. We were happy, satisfied with the trip, and ready to go out again. So thanks, Just for Fun, for allowing an option for people who don't want to buy a boat and let it sit in their yard for 90% of the year filling with raccoons and yellow jacket nests. read more

There are a few places around town that tend to engender repeat conversations among my friends and I and this is one of them. Deep into an afternoon filled with sunshine, swimming, music, munchies and beer, one of us will pipe up and say "hey, why don't we just buy one of these? Then we could be out here every weekend!" All of us cheer and agree on the spot that this idea not only A) sounds plausible, but B) sounds like tremendous fun. None of us ever want to leave. As it is, the reality of the situation is that for the time being it's much easier to head down to the lake, rent one of these bad boys for four hours and spent our afternoon tooling around and generally having the time of our lives. This go round a catfish was trolling for potato chips and a small dog named -- and I am not making this up -- Sparky ran down the side of the hill and proceded to swim out to several of us one at a time. I don't know what Sparky had been into other than the lake up to that moment, but word was that the dear boy needed a bath without some lake water in it. But other than that sort of oddness, we couldn't have scripted a more fun and entertaining way to while away the hours with old and new friends alike. They're very good about walking through all the safety points with you here (and when the lake's down like it is this year, that's a very good thing for both them and you), though they do tend to blaze through the language in a fairly sing-song way. I guess if you had to say the same thing twenty times a day you'd check out on making it a real conversation too. Either way, until we actually up and buy our own, I'm pretty sure we'll be back...just for fun. read more

This little boat/jet-ski rental outfit fills your basic lake rental needs. We rented a double-decker party-boat (similar to a pontoon boat) for a nice little 4-hour tour on Lake Travis on a fine hot afternoon. Outfitted with a sound system, a BBQ, a cooler, chairs, tables, water slide, and a bathroom, this boat pretty much had everything our group needed for a good time. Our driver gave us the run of the boat, took us where we wanted to go, hooked us up with tunes, and was a generally pretty nice guy. While he was with us the whole time, he only really interacted with us when we wanted him to, which was nice. We didn't use the 'q, but the rest of the boat functioned as advertised and was clean enough. We cruised out across to the lake and tied up at a buoy, and were allowed to jump from the upper ledges, use the slide, and kick it up top in the sun, all with frosty Smirnoff Ice beverages in hand and tunes rolling through the speakers. There's nothing quite like an afternoon in the sun om the lake. So amazing. Overall, if you're looking for a great group time, this is a fun way to spend your afternoon. read more

My first time out on a speedboat. I was surprised they just toss the keys over and tell you "just be back home on time, son (or else we'll charge you up a storm)." Like the dude didn't even ask me if I'd, like, ever been in a traffic accident before. And here I was about to go 60 mph in a marine vehicle I'd never even touched. Yay! --THE PONTOON-- Well, to backtrack a bit, our half of the party first headed out on a pontoon. It was pretty chill, being covered and all, and it moved at a nice pace. Watch out though, the deck is fairly low and hitting wakes can cause a nice flood of water to wash over it - so KEEP YOUR STUFF IN THE LITTLE SEAT COMPARTMENTS. Like your purse (sorry again Kelly!) and camera gear. Could be major ouchie otherwise. However the pontoon maxed out at like 18 mph. --ON TO THE SPEEDBOAT!--- The speedboat (they call it a 'ski boat') was simply...awesome. I stood up while driving, which was pretty cool (kind of like riding a horse) and then one of our boat passengers had the brilliant idea of hitting other boats' wakes...I was kind of apprehensive at first, but then shrugged, and said, Why not? And that is the way to GO people, let me just tell you. You can pretty much max the throttle out and hit the wakes hard (helps if you swing out and hit them more straight on). We got like 6 to 8 ft of air once. AWESOME. And don't worry, the dude said the boats go up to 60mph but we didn't (couldn't, though I tried) break 40, so it was pretty safe - and you can take hard turns in that thing and it won't even break a sweat. Amazing design. It's like a roller-coaster ride, but better - because YOU'RE controlling it. The counter ladies were very professional and nice (sorry Kevin N. for your experience with the inclement weather - I'll have to keep that in mind for next time!), and the deck guy who showed us around our boat was nice. There was another guy who fronted a 'I grew up on the water and know my starboard from my propeller so don't mess with me man' attitude when I asked him a newbie question, but it was alright, because hey, I'm about to go out on a SPEEDBOAT and have some serious fun. Gave the first guy a nice tip and so hope he spreads the good service love to the second guy. --COST-- Now, about pricing: the pontoon was $65 per hour, the ski boat $75 (and it actually does come with water skis that you can use for free), but with a 2 hr minimum. Which is pretty standard, and as it turns out JFF is the only place that doesn't charge you for gas, which is pretty tight. It was definitely worth it, and when split among my buddies, wasn't even too bad, like about 20 bucks (pontoon can take 10 ppl, ski boat 8). I mean, there's no other place you can get the same experience (as opposed to a pricey steakhouse, which you can replicate pretty dang good at home with a few bucks' worth of CostCo Choice cuts). For the cost of 2 movies you can get about 100x the entertainment value as compared with, say, Transformers 2. Or whatever lame superstar vehicle is disgracing the screen these days =D So, if the price is in your budget, and you want a seriously FUN time on the water at beautiful Lake Travis...hit up a ski boat. --- Btw, in my next life I want to be a policeman on Lake Travis. An officer pulled my friend over when he was driving the boat, for a routine safety check (we think it's because we were having the most fun on the lake, hehe), and when he saw that we weren't drinking, and had our fire extinguisher and everything, he sent us away with a wave - and I got a view of the DUAL huge engines on his boat. Woah. I bet that thing gets some monster air. I was majorly jealous! read more

Went on a boat barge the other week and it was so fun! The sunset over Lake Travis was incredible. This is an awesome way to spend a day off :-) Mario is so nice! He was kind enough to drive us out to meet the boat barge because we had missed the last boat even though it looked like he was getting ready to head out for the day he still took us. My family owns lots of toys - boats, house boat, jet ski's, etc. Unfortunately, they live in California and I live here - which can be a bit of a problem when it comes to borrowing those kinds of things. Whats a girl to do? Rent. I'm lucky to have friends who like to go out to the lake and include me when they go along. Grab yer floaties, sunblock, towels, hats and beer and you've got a day. The great things about Just For Fun is renting was so easy. They didn't make us wait around for three hours while they did paperwork, nor did they do the nine hour "This Is How You Drive A Boat" speech. They did, however, make sure we knew enough to keep ourselves safe and happy. The boat was great - never learned how to set the anchor, though. Clean, didn't have engine problems, cheap. We rented an 8 person speedboat today. We had an absolute fabulous time however we ran into a few issues. Our boat anchor didn't work at all. We couldn't anchor and hangout which was disappointing. When we came back and mentioned it to the staff they said "oh it's a mushroom anchor" because they can't afford other anchors at the rate they lose them. I don't find this to be an acceptable answer to a customers complaint. The speedometer on the boat didn't work, and the water skis had ripped rubber. I would definitely make sure you check on these things before you rent from them. read more

I'm very disappointed in the customer service here. I had a groupon-type coupon for JFF that I forgot about until today (Friday), the day it expires, and they refused to extend it until Monday. I know it's my own fault for missing the deadline, but I did pay $85 for the coupon and I had hoped they would be gracious enough to extend the expiration date by a few days. Or how about a discount off my next rental? That would have been a positive gesture and enough to keep me coming back. We've rented boats and jet skis here quite a few times and been happy with everything, but there are lots of good rental places on the lake and in the future we'll be going someplace else. read more

Good product, maybe a little overpriced. I am not a great judge of pricing, so I am just going off of the value I felt was placed in the experience. We all pitched in for a boat to go hang out and celebrate a few friends that had birthdays recently. They allow for as much beer and liquor as you want on the boats and had a gas grill to cook out. That was definitely a plus in my book because of the length of time on the boat. I was expecting to cruise the boat around Lake Travis for a couple of hours, but instead we just cruised down to a cliff to dock and hung out on the boat. I feel like we could have done that at someones house for free. The boat staff was nice, and helpful. There wasn't really any direction though when it came to what was happening and when we were leaving. The whole experience was a little disorganized. I am a fan of getting on the boat, but I must say, I wouldn't pay the money to go on this ride again. read more

Lake Travis is beautiful and if the boat worked out, I would've loved it. There were so many issues to begin with for our reservation. After spending 45 minutes trying to figure it out, they said they'd refund us the money for the time that we didn't spend on the boat. We get on the boat and realize the depth gauge didn't work to which we were told "hmm I guess it just doesn't work on this boat but you'll be fine." We get out there and spent 45 mins dropping the little baby anchor that's provided and we had to drag it along the lake until we felt it wasn't too deep. We finally dock and the bluetooth speaker goes out and just completely stops working so being frustrated, we just took the boat back. I explain this all to the girl up front who then tells me that they don't refund for time not spent on the water and that I should've just called the office (which I did) when stuff wasn't working. AND YOUR WORKERS CAN LEARN TO BE MORE DISCREET WHEN TALKING ABOUT CUSTOMERS. They literally sat there in a group and talked mess about everybody that got off their boats. No doubt they talked mess about me as I was obviously pissed about the service. Moral of the story: save your money, rent elsewhere. read more

What's a better way to spend a hot summer day than out on the lake with a group of friends! This weekend a group of us rented a 10-person pontoon boat for 2 hours. For $55/hour that isn't so bad when you split it. Everything was great down from the friendly guys telling you about the boat to the radio system provided on the boat. It was absolutely a fabulous day filled with drinking, swimming, and lounging around. Note: Might want to store your stuff in the compartments under the seats because water is prone to splash a lot on a pontoon boat since it's low. Not to mention one of the guys almost lost his credit card cuz some how it got out of his wallet and onto the floor of the boat. Also the company charges $3 per minute you are late so keep an eye on your clocks. read more

I've used JFF for several large-scale boat parties (45-50 people). The captains and boat crew are awesome, and I've never had any problems with the staff once I'm on the water. I gave them three stars because the owners really need to hire more friendly customer service reps. I called them on a Saturday morning, the morning of my big party this summer. I asked a simple question: What time can my guests arrive to get on the boat? Her answer: When you've paid in full. (I had paid in full two months earlier. I was tempted to say "I've already paid in full, can my guests come board the boat now?" I asked her again: I've already paid in full. What time can my guests arrive? She finally answered my question, but MAN, what a buzz kill! Find some people who can handle the call volume at a boat rental on a Saturday morning! read more

I bought 2 LivingSocial coupons for a deluxe ski boat which we used yesterday. Well, it was hotter than hell and my sister, who is 4 months pregnant, wouldn't have been able to handle the heat. Even though our coupons were very specific for a ski-boat, they willingly gave us a pontoon boat with a canopy in the place of the ski boat. After they did that, I had to come on here and give them major props. as for the boat, it was brand-new, and we were the first to ever take it out. The staff there was incredibly professional, helpful, and will go to great lengths to make sure you're happy. It was incredibly fast, efficient, and easy to go from checking in at the front counter to pushing back on the boat. We reserved a party barge for my bachelorette party this weeked. When we got there we learned that they had double booked the boat and we would not be given the boat we were promised. There were two barges docked at the time, and though we were there first, we were told we would not be accomodated. Instead they gave us 2 Pontoon boats and no drivers. For a bachelorette party. I was floored at how irresponsible JFF was. We had no experienced boat drivers and plans for celebratory drinking. Our plans were ruined because JFF has one or more incompetent staffers, who seemed to to care very little and hate their jobs. Why even work there? I'm grateful for the few employees who went out of their way to help us out, but the damage was done. I'm really disappointed in the company. Had my first experience with JFF last weekend, and it was fantastic. Their level of customer service can only be described as phenomenal. I just couldn't understand how happy everyone seemed to be there and wanted to make sure we would have a good time, we were having a good time, and we did have a good time. I kept wondering where the tip jar was as other places where people are so friendly, there always seems to be some expectation of reciprocity for their kindness. The only thing I can figure is that they only hire the right kind of people and have great managers. Oh right, the boat. I rented a wave runner that was almost brand new. Highly recommend their Sunday morning deal (4 hours for the price of 3)--if you get out on Travis early enough, the water is like glass and you can easily max out the throttle and see speeds in the 50+ MPH (CRAZY!) Awesome equipment, awesome people, and the focus is just the fun. Ditch the expense of owning a boat, and go out and have fun. These guys are the company to go with, bar none. read more

Spent $180 for two hours on the lake on their 'deluxe' ski boat that only had 10 hours of operating time on it:-} After a short 'safety' speech and signing of wavers they send you on your way. My friend Ben and I tested the boat and it'll easily do 45mph with slightly choppy waters. Most of the time we spent in 'idle forward' mode in Devil's Cove checking out all the party boats with their groups of drunken party-goers. As-far-as the boat goes it was sparkling clean and responded very well to steering and throttle inputs. The built-in CD/tuner worked perfectly, and there is even an input jack for your iPhone/iPod. I'd rent from these guys again in a heart beat, and to top it off, unlimited fuel is included in the price. read more
