They've got their main floor, a back room (up 3 tiny stairs), and the upstairs (up the spiral staircase). They've got 2 doggos and 1 cat in shop. The cat is a local to the area whose previous owner had passed and given them their cat. The doggos are the owner's and they are super sweet ! Don't forget to give them pets on your way in & out ! The owner Mark & his wife Maggie are such a hoot ! I love coming in and chatting with them. They will suggest items based off genuine opinions and suggest something similar to what you may be on the hunt for. This place is definitely not for someone who has a specific idea of a gift- this is for someone who is on the hunt to find a unique and fun gift for another person (or themselves). The prices are pretty fair too since everything is sourced from local, or small businesses. There is too much to document. Just go in and check it out !

Every item is so thoughtfully curated by the owner, Kristina, who not only sources items from her travels but also makes several of the gifts available in the store. There are lots of fun tea towels and cool socks, beautiful cards, gorgeous mid century modern vegas style ornaments with names of cities and neighborhoods(Richmond, Bellevue, Museum District, Fredericksburg etc She just needs Petersburg!). I believe the shop owner makes the ornaments. She does make scented candles. So people have scented candles but these are exceptional-- the scents so nice, nuanced. I plan to get one next time. The jars them come in are pretty as well. I was in awe of the rings....they were sort of art deco yet sort of exotic. I cannot remember the lovely store owner's name but she said they came from Portugal. There were other fun rings made in Germany. She obtains her items from her travels and the store reflects that. I fell in love with a ring and had to have. It's gorgeous and I own nothing like it. The prices are reasonable and the items are beautiful. If you need a gift for someone you really like who likes pretty and colorful things this is where you go. Parking was easy and you could walk down the street to Dot's Back in for a treat. I usually come here when I need last second coffee beans since they carry Recluse coffee. I also have fun visiting this shop with friends when they visit me in Jackson Ward. One of my favorite things to buy here is their birthday card that has a candle imbedded into it along with a match. I think it's so cute and whimsical and the birthday person always loves it. I've been wanting to buy some of their beautifully colored taper candles. Every time I walk in always admire the ladder covered in an array of rainbow candles. If you're looking for a unique gift or a new statement piece, Odd Bird is the place for you.

Bonus points for having a clearance section. I was able to explore that and purchase a few items. Items in the store can be within anyone's budget and some items could be in the pricey side. Whatever your budget is, I'm sure you will find something. They were pretty organized throughout. They had so many cute items! The staff working that day were so helpful and engaging . We had a pretty good conversation while I was there.
