Carytown is dotted with funky, cool shops and Paper Source is another gem in Carytown's crown. The beautiful and unique wrapping paper found in this place is almost too pretty to use! The stock of Rifle Paper patterns include botanicals, fruits, mermaids, animals, dolls and many more one-of-a-kind prints. The stationery and greeting card selection is huge and diverse. There are a few shelves of stickers, writing implements, rubber stamps, etc. They stock fun and useful office supplies and calendar/ planner items as well. I love the whimsical displays of gifts, toys, pillows, purses, napkins and other amusing collectibles. Your eyes will be dazzled by the glittery sequin backpacks and pouches. Lots of trendy merchandise like llamas, avocados, mermaids, succulents, unicorns, owls, etc. can also be found in this mirthful store! We stocked up on cards, paper and other fun items! I'll visit this shop whenever I'm in Carytown!

The Glass Spot - Pumpkin making

Everyone had a really great time picking their colors and doing the glass blowing. The pumpkins came out really great and the pickup process was super easy! My one complaint would be that we were such a large group (we had 2 groups back to back) and I was in the 2nd group- you could tell the staff got tired (very understandable since they had to make 20+ pumpkins) and they didn't do a great job explaining the process ahead of time. On the upside, they were great about talking you through it in the moment. It was pretty dummy proof since the staff did most of the process for you, I don't think I can say I actually did "glass blowing" which I think is fine. Overall, would recommend this for events (but maybe smaller groups) and the staff is really skilled. They have a shop up front which I would recommend checking out!

It was overpriced, already made pottery for you to paint. Although it was overpriced, I will say it was very therapeutic and we enjoyed ourselves. We returned again in 2024, but this time for a homeschool pottery class. I absolutely love that they have planned days for homeschoolers to come in and create different projects. The pricing for that was better and again the kids enjoyed themselves.. The owner and other ladies were kind during both of our interactions. I recommend visiting this place solo or with a group for some therapeutic fun. Recommended

There were great options to choose from to paint and they have some other activities as well. Jessica was the lovely lady who helped us and gave great information and instructions. They had a lot of different tools and techniques that I hadn't seen before. I also really appreciated that they encouraged us to take the bottles of paint needed to our table. A previous place I had gone to, filled our palettes for us and told us to ask for more if needed which was very frequent and difficult when it was busy. Anyways, we got our mugs and our paint and began to art! We had a great time and felt no pressure to get finished quickly. I am looking forward to seeing our finished prod

I like how the classes are organized because clay, glaze, tools, and kiln firings are all included in the cost of the class. The space is huge and has multiple tables and rooms to practice your ceramic skills. They even have a semi-outdoor garage area for potters to set up in. In addition to the great space, the staff are all super helpful. The owner, Jess, and teacher, Brooklin, make the space very inviting and informative. It's a great environment to ask questions and be inquisitive about the process. Also, all the other potters who go there, whether members or students, are happy to share their knowledge with newcomers. I would recommend taking the "Bowl in One" class first for just $60 before committing to a whole month of classes. But I promise, once you start at Still Life, you won't ever want to stop.

I've taken a variety of classes with them throughout the years and always ask for a gift card to the studio during Christmastime. They offer single day courses and longer courses. Some of the single day or two-class courses I've taken have been Let's Build a Mug (hand building), Vase building (hand building one course with clay the other with flowers), Slab Boxes (hand building), Candle vessel making (hand building), and a hand building wall pocket class. I've done two Beginning Clay - Wheel Throwing classes at Hand / Thrown. I wanted to try a beginner class with a different teacher because I felt like I didn't understand it the first time. The best part about their several class courses is that they give you studio time to practice throughout the week. So not only do you learn in class, but you can use what you learned outside of class without having to buy a wheel and the materials for home (ignoring clay, you need to buy your own clay after you finish the one that comes with the class). In my time there, they offer you a choice between a plain white clay and a speckled earth tone one. They have a variety of glazes and teach you how to use them. Writing this review makes me feel day dreamy about all the time I've spent there. It's an incredible space with great natural lighting. Their classes can sell out fast, but if you sign up for their email list and sign up within the time the classes are released, you should be good to go. I highly recommend taking pottery classes at Hand / Thrown Ceramics Studio!

I was then removed from the class because I'm white. Classes go fast, so when I saw it pop up I signed up for it ASAP, not knowing what that meant. Neither did about 8 of my friends that are black. Exclusion and segregation is not for me, so I'll gladly pay more elsewhere to avoid any further miscommunication.
