Located very unassumingly in the industrial area next to the auto park, this is a hole in the wall taco shop worth visiting. The food tastes great without being too salty and the salsas are a good mix of flavor and heat. My only complaint is that since they are geared towards the workers in the area, is that they are never open when I want them to be. So double check on the opening hours before you go. read more

First, I must start with that. I am a Mexican food, loving, gringo, living in one of the best cities in the country to experience some of the most amazing Mexican food you can eat. The competition is so fierce and just like Starbucks, there's practically a taco shop on every corner. With all of that said, it's very difficult to find a restaurant that is so consistent every single time. This place checks every single box. Easy to get to and convenient, family owned restaurant that's been around forever, awesome service with a smile and gratitude, Delicious food, and all offered at the lowest price you'll find anywhere. I live in San Diego and work in Temecula so it is very dangerous how convenient it is to get to this place. Driving on the 15 north, hop into the express lane and exit in Escondido on Hale Avenue. Make a left and it's one block down on your right. I usually call and place my order when I'm in Rancho Bernardo and it is always ready for me to pick up as soon as I walk in the door. My typical morning go to is the steak and egg burrito. A lot of restaurants Loaded up with potatoes (french fries) and there isn't very much egg or meat. Not these guys!! The burrito is as big as a linebackers forearm and it's loaded with me. The flavor is so delicious and consistently awesome every time they have a great selection of Hot sauce and salsa. Be careful though, I think someone in the kitchen has a Thai background because some of them are hotter than the surface of the sun. Another favorite is the Diablo shrimp burrito. Also pretty spicy, but if you can take the heat, definitely order it for your next meal. read more

Tried out a new place by work, I did call it in so it was a quick stop on my way to work. Ordered the special breakfast burrito as it comes. It had bacon, ham, eggs, cheese and potatoes. They have a small salsa bar with 4 different salsas and some limes. Walked in, told the lady my name and my burrito was ready to go. I had called it in about 5 mins prior so the service was pretty quick. They have a fridge with Mexican sodas, different varieties and sizes available. I was in and out within a few minutes. Location is pretty small but if you're just grabbing and going it's legit. In the industrial area, near the dealerships. Total was about $14 read more

The perfect hole in the wall. Never even knew it was there until I started working in the area. The food is always fresh.

We came out mountain biking from Anaheim and at the end of it we were so hungry and craving some kind of burrito so we stopped in & got a bacon breakfast burrito and let me tell you it was really yummy. It's a little hole in the wall place you never know that it was there. Service was Quick and easy. Authentic, delicious, affordable. The food here is amazing, my family was coming home from a long day in downtown San Diego and we came across this place, it was so worth it. The restaurant is clean, the staff is very nice, and the food is made fresh. The quality of the meat did not disappoint and the salsas (forgot to take a photo) had the right level of flavor and spice! My wife, daughter and myself ate for the first time at Junior's Tacos in Escondido this past Saturday around 10:30 am. The bacon, egg and cheese breakfast burrito ($7.99) was excellent and the best I have had. My wife is a vegetarian and they let her substitute the bean and cheese burrito as a rice and cheese burrito ($5.75). They use a 18" tortilla for the burritos. We paid $3.40 for the bag Imof tortilla chips but there was a generous amount of hot tortilla chips and they were the best we have had. The self service salsa bar is really nice. Adding grilled onions in the salsas bar would take it another level.. Very clean inside and the customer service was excellent. There are three tables and 3 or 4 chairs at each table. Do not key the industrial area be off putting. Great prices and great food along with great customer service means we will be coming back regularly. .They have a strip mall location on Vista off KC Melriae which is closer for us but not eaten at that location. read more

It's a small place in the industrial part of Escondido but they are open on Saturdays till 6:00 p.m. Friendly and fast service, great grab and go place with some limited seating if you want to eat there. The place is clean and feels bright. Huge burritos stuffed with meat under $10! These value places are getting hard to find these days. I had carnitas burrito for $8.99 and it was stuffed with carnitas. I ate 2/3 of it and had some leftover for later. A part of the carnitas was not shredded and cubed that threw me off a bit but it was tender and had good flavor without being too salty. So....I thought this was the place that used to be on Valley and Center City (where the Taco Craft Lounge place is now). Back in the day that place was amazing, so naturally I was excited to eat here again. Turns out it wasn't the same place (I asked). I should have left but I decided to try it anyway. MY ORDER: 4 carnitas street tacos, a Cali burrito, asada taco and a bean and cheese burrito - my usual trifecta of items I order when trying a new place. Grabbed red and green salsa too. CARNITAS: These were bad, meat was chunky and grey not the crispy brown kind. No flavor at all and the meat didn't taste fresh. (2/10) CALI/ASADA TACO: The fries were soft and the meat was dry. The asada did have a good flavor but again, the meat did not taste fresh. Because it was so dry I doused it in green salsa. (5/10) BEAN AND CHEESER: It's not easy to mess up a classic bean and cheese burrito. but at the same time, you can tell a lot about a taco place by the quality/flavor of their beans. Somehow, they messed it up. There was waaaaay too much cheese (orange/cheddar) and it was basically a quesadilla with a smear of beans, just absolutely dripping with grease. I took two bites but didn't even try to finish it. (2/10) As for the place, no one else was in there, just me. It was hot and had no ac, the dude in the back took way to long to make my order (which I wouldn't mind if it had turned out fresh/tasty). The wait was about 20 minutes but that's way too long for what I ordered with no zero crowd or line. Interior was not clean, not a deal breaker for taco spot but several dead flies and bees on the windowsills. Gross. Garbage was by the front, over flowing and this was attracting them. Bathroom was relatively clean but no paper towels. Salsa bar was decent, no carrots or jalapenos but 3 solid salsas and limes. (The red was pretty hot) Anyway, not a place I'll go back to. No matter what the flavor is of any place, you just cannot serve old tasting meat. That's absolutely disgusting. Overall: 3.5/10 read more

So . . . these tacos are an absolute home run. . . I'm pretty shocked. Yet another adage proven true: hidden restaurant ? food will either be horrible or absolutely mindblowing. Had a carne asada and adobada taco, super generous serving + double tortilla'd. The tacos were so bomb that they didn't even need salsa. I was shocked. Price wise it was $8 but that's just the way things are now. I'd spend another $8 in a heartbeat. Inside of the restaurant it's kind of empty looking and the vibe is a little off. But worth the payoff. That taste hit super fresh, and I kid you not: I was salivating so bad still long after I finished, thinking about these tacos. Juniors has an amazing taco salad in a flower shell that is my go to. The best chicken taco salad in Escondido is of course Chicken Lisa's and Your Mexican Favorites. This one is very good also. Glad to have them - but prices are rising steadily... When they first opened prices were shockingly affordable - it made it a no-brainer to come here over nearby Primo's. The Carne Asada burrito was $6.70 - now it's $7.70. Surf and Turf was $7.90 and now $8.99. Breakfast burritos still a deal though at $5.25 (was $4.85). And on and on. I guess I'd rather pay a bit more than have them cut the quality - but I don't believe they've even been open a year and the prices are creeping ... I've been here 6-8 times since they opened and ordered carne asada, shrimp, breakfast items, the veggie burrito, chile relleno burrito, nachos - etc. - it's all been pretty on point. Also their "diablo" dishes (surf and turf, shrimp) are -legit- hot. Overall (still) highly recommended. Junior's took over the great but long departed Diego's in this industrial spot with a big remodel and setup geared for take-out. I always read recent reviews and that's where the lower star reviews appeared. Juniors Taco Shop had at the time of this post only 7 reviews, but all 5 star. (Big family?) :) I added my 5 star review today. Located in an industrial area, great food with great prices. I had the breakfast burrito Special, good size, filled with crispy bacon, ham, potato's and cheese. Really good amount of meat. (Some places add way too much potato) Looking forward to eating here again and trying out some other burritos for lunch. read more
