I've been signing up my two daughters for different programming curriculum via afterschool programs and summer programs and I noticed that they thrived when they were in environments such as the all girls coding summer program run by Alexa Cafe. But there isn't a year-round option like this available for us. They were the only girls in the programs after school and they felt like they were passive learners. They hated it. I was lucky to hear about Juni Learning from a friend who is one of their teachers and I figured I'd try the free trial. I liked the set up, coding from home, they can both log on separately in their laptops receive 1:2 instruction from a female MCS student at Duke who is more relatable than someone decades older and male. It's a financial sacrifice for us but it's worth every cent. They are enjoying the classes, tinkering when they don't have to, and are excited to show me their projects because they feel a sense of ownership they didn't feel before. I can't wait to see their progress as they continue with Juni learning. I can't recommend Juni enough. read more

My 15 year old son has been taking classes with Juni for over a year. We have been extremely happy with his instructors, he had two amazing instructors. Both instructors are highly qualified.. Both instructors always motivated and challenged him focusing on keeping his interest on their sessions with him - my Son has been coding on his own with the work they assign him throughout the week which is a big plus.. Furthermore, the customer service is phenomenal, professional and responds to my questions and concerns if any arraise promptly ( which is very important to me) .. That said, I would like to personally thank Ashley in Customer service who always goes above and beyond with helping me.. The coding course is great. However the customer service and organization of this company is a joke! We have been waiting 4 weeks for them to assign us a tutor. During that time, they still charged us $275.00 for the month of August! Yet we had ZERO lessons that month. Every time i ask when we will get a tutor, i get told that they can't locate any. What sort of company is this? When we first joined JUNI, a year ago, we were assigned a tutor fairly quickly. But then we dropped him because he would cancel at the last minute about 1 out of every 4 classes. That was ridiculous! The only reason i went back to JUNI in August was because my son enjoys their course. However. it's definitely time for us to find another source of coding classes. BUYER BEWARE read more

Juni was good for a couple of year but lately they have been irresponsible. They cancel the session at the last minute and some times the instructor does not even start the session. It has caused a lot of frustration and waste of time. Looks like that their management has gone downhill. Probably time to move on to some other provider. read more

I signed up for my son for a free coding class. At the time of signing up I mentioned he dates he would not be available and on his return to school he is no longer available during the day. We will need to work with a different schedule. We had one free class for the month of August and one paid class. I told them repeatedly via email, the schedule does not work for my son. For instance, on their online platform it is difficult to use and not user friendly. I was told it is an hour long (they advertised this) then the instructor only is online for about 45 minutes. When I inquired, I was told that they wrote notes, When I checked I did not see any notes. My card was charged for class we would not take. I contacted them via email, but no one has gotten back to you. It seems like a cat and mouse game with this company, communication is VERY POOR and POOR customer services. read more

We had a very pleasant experience with Juni Learning. My two kids took coding classes with Juni for 3.5 years. We went through several different instructors (not every instructor teaches every language, and schedules changed both for us and the instructors from time to time). Juni was always fantastic about finding us a new instructor as quickly as possible and when the fit wasn't good, they helped us find someone new. I feel that Juni gave my children a strong beginning foundation in coding. They have some higher level classes, but we chose to take another more creative route for my kids' advanced coding learning. But after 2 years with Juni, my kids were able to almost completely answer some of the interview questions my husband (a software engineer) uses for new hires. Their online system where parents can review progress and reschedule classes is easy to use and I always found Juni super responsive to emails. I never tried calling and I believe that they have recently shifted to doing most communication by email anyway. It may not be the best fit for everyone, but I say it is worth giving Juni a try. read more

I blocked that time from my working hours. But didn't call and I tried calling them back. No luck. My son took coding classes last year for several months. It was great-- he liked the instructor and he seemed to be learning a lot. We had to stop classes over the summer and then everything fell apart. I fear Juni is struggling to keep afloat. I've been trying to reschedule his classes this fall and they cannot locate an instructor for him. (Of course, they charged my credit card immediately, despite not being able to schedule any classes). And trying to find this (or any!) information is like pulling teeth. I have to keep emailing, and then I receive insufficient answers and explanations. The communication is so poor, I wonder how many employees they have working for them. Programs are very well thought out with the appropriate amount of challenge. My 9 year old son has been doing Juni learning since last summer and learned how to program video games in scratch, make a website, and is now learning python. We are so happy with Juni Learning! My 6 and 8 year old boys jumped right in. They were instantly comfortable with the online format because it is so similar to how they communicate with family members that live far away (FaceTime, etc). It seems perfectly natural to them. They like getting the full attention and guidance of the teacher, unlike group classes, but they still get to direct their lesson toward their interests. My 6 year old tends to get bored with enrichment activities after a few lessons, but he is eager for his coding lesson each week. The online scheduling tool makes it easy to set up a recurring time, and also to reschedule as needed. The time it saves me driving to and from a class is also a wonderful benefit.
