With my good eye I fumbled around on my phone and called several nearby doctors only to get answering machines telling me to call back during regular business hours. Then I called Milan Eye Center and, ceding all hope, left a message for the "on call" doctor, even though I'd hate to qualify my discomfort as a real emergency. Within 30 minutes I got a call from Dr. Patel. After firing off a few quick questions about my symptoms, he told me he could meet me in the office in an hour. Not at all what I was expecting, but this man cut short his weekend plans to open up the office for a total stranger. And one who forgot his insurance card at home, no less. After a quick visit and diagnosis, Dr. Patel called in my prescription which was ready within minutes. After a few days the pain and redness had receded and I was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation. If he is working to build a practice, this is certainly the way to do it. I only wish more practices like this existed closer to home. Very refreshing in an era of remote interactions with patients.

I could read the "E" at the top of the eye chart and that was all. As soon as I could, much later in life, I did something about it. Two co-workers recommended Dr. Ashraf of the Atlanta Vision Institute when he was with his former lasik surgery practice. On their recommendation, I had the same surgery performed (using a type of Bausch & Lomb equipment that is obsolete now). He corrected my eyes to 20/15 in one eye, and nearly 20/15 in the other. This was back in 2001 and I swear by my results. Lasik, though performed under a streamlined process, is still surgery, and you experience minor discomfort and inconvenience as you recover. The success rate is very, very high, as a result of being carefully screened beforehand. Read the literature accompanying your consent forms. I referred Miss D. to Dr. Ashraf after he formed the Atlanta Vision Institute, and he performed a different type of vision improvement surgery for her, and three years later she also is very happy with her result. All of the doctor's direct assistants are very personable and helpful, with a special notice to the woman who schedules surgery and the like. Also, the woman who "checks you out" is a doll as well. A particular shout out to the two opticians who sit on the north side of the lobby. Mike and Trent are very helpful and willing to adjust your frames and work with you in every way possible to make sure you can see well... This office is very, very busy and it can come across as like you are being lost in the process sometimes, but they eventually find you. The only negatives I can mention is the face they are "Obsessed with Health Insurance (and cards)" and the women who man the front desk are sort of bereft of charm. but this is still one of the better Ophthalmologist offices in the general area.

They were friendly, personable, and professional. After waiting for more than an hour to see Doctor Kuang, he on the other hand was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. He made zero eye contact upon entering the room, was short and showed no interest or concern. He even asked "what brings you here today"? My Sclera (white part of the eye) is completely red and swollen. He prescribed a medication which directly conflicts with my current medication which sharply increases my risk of severe stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney damage, and cardiovascular events. I called the office more than six times over 4 weeks to ask Dr. Kuang to call me to discuss my condition and his recommendation for treatment and he NEVER returned my calls. He also never returned the call of another ophthalmologist even after I gave the office staff permission to discuss my condition. It's generally a professional courtesy to return calls of patients and colleagues. I contacted the Corporate Office to discuss my concern and did not receive a follow-up call. If there was an option for less than one star this location would get it from me. Based upon my experiences, I would adamantly not recommend this facility.

They are a very friendly and welcoming staff. There has not been a time when I felt they were not. You are required to wear a mask when in their office. Continue with social distancing. Yes, they sanitize between patients on all their equipment. They are still up holding all cautions so bare with them. Show up for your appointment and bring your patients. Everyone they see is a priority. I like the staff and the fact that they treat you with respect and kindness. I appreciate that I personally was taken care of and relaxed so much that the surgical process only took 15 minutes for my first and second eye procedures. ( done on two separate dates). The pain factor is minimal and my vision is now 20/20. I didn't realize how much I was missing until I received my two new lenses. I followed all their instructions to the letter, and healed without any complications. Thank you Milan Eye Center for your great customer service and professionalism. The receptionist was so nice. She was prompt with responding for the initial appointment scheduling, followed-up with pre-visit instructions, and greeted me with a warm and friendly smile when I arrived. The office is clean and pleasant. Dr. Shah was on time and spent more time with me than most doctors do over multiple appointments. I left this appointment feeling like I had been truly heard and that my concerns were addressed with solutions and a plan for moving forward.
