I actually took my friend to the CarlinVision Surgery Center which is in the ORIGINAL location that CarlinVision started in decades ago until they moved up the street into a huge fancy building and added more doctors. I had my Lasik Surgery in the original building in 2007 performed by Dr Richard Carlin (love him). Any way my friend was having cataract surgery performed by Dr Willman. Even though the building is older it is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN! Very well maintained with an excellent staff. From check in until they wheeled him out it ran like a well oiled machine on how well they performed their duties. His Surgery was scheduled for 2:00 pm with check in at 1:00 pm. We arrived at 1:03 because Hwy 78 is always busy no matter what time. Check in took about 15/20 minutes going over the paperwork and paying. He sat down down beside me gave me the paperwork and bam the nurse was at the door calling his name. She took him back for prep (IV & dilation of his left eye) 15 minutes later she came and got me so I could sit with him while his eye dilated for 15 minutes more (the Dr came in before I got back there). At 1: 53 the nurse took him back and showed me the waiting area with snacks and a Keureg coffee machine. I made a coffee went to the restroom came back to drink my coffee and the nurse came out saying he did great! I pulled my car to the awning area and 5 minutes later she wheeled him out. It was at max 90 minutes from beginning to end. I'm scheduling mine for August! He felt great... took him home fed him and in the bed he went. Tomorrow his follow up is at 11:00 am where they will remove the protective patch and he starts eye drops for 2 weeks. But he can drive and go about his life except no bending at the waist to pick up anything and nothing over 10lbs. He has another follow up in 10 days. The worst thing is no movies at the theater until after that follow up. He highly recommends Dr Willman and CarlinVision Surgery Center! read more

If melanie bennett-sims is still there, she was very negligent in her care for a simple cataract surgery (10 years ago). I had NO problems with my eyes other than cataract removal. I lost most of my sight, never to recover. Dr. Richard Carlin tried his best to repair the damage she caused, to no avail. I have had 5 subsequent surgeries including a corneal transplant with no better results in vision. she may be good for eye exams, but she is NOT to be trusted with patients under anesthesia. With ALL sincerity - I would NEVER recommend her no matter where she was employed! read more

I had actually stopped coming here because the other doctor that they started having me see was very dry and not personable at all. He would reach out to shake my hand then proceed to wipe his hand on his pant leg in front of me which I thought was rude and was very short when answering my questions. But I came back home, mainly because they performed my LASIK and I felt my eyesight was detonating and I should start wearing contacts/glasses again. I came in to set up an appointment and the ladies there were really nice. The office is always clean and they have a huge waiting area with plenty of seating and refreshments while you wait to be called back. The lady (I didn't get her name) I spoke with suggested I see Dr. Thornhill, after I told her I would rather see a different doctor than the one I saw the past couple of times I was there. I am so thankful for her because Dr. Thornhill restored my faith! He was very charismatic, funny, and just overall great energy! He answered all my questions and addressed any concerns I had. He also recommended eye exercises I can do since I'm constantly staring at a computer screen during my work day. Awful! Two times they messed up my Rx with my eye exam. First time was in 2020 and after ordering glasses I could not see at all. Confirmed it was what the doctor issued. Had to get a recheck and then go back to the glasses place and have them remake the lenses with the correct Rx. Then AGAIN in 2023. Nobody can find any fault with the quality of service that you receive from Carlin Vision other than the long wait times. The care was excellent. The billing department is a total disaster. Five months after my surgery I am still receiving bills for hundreds of dollars. I have Medicare plus excellent coinsurance coverage. I paid over $8,000 up front which was suppose to cover everything. It did not! I requested in writing an audit of my charges. This request WAS TOTALLY OVERLOOKED. I never received any response. BEWARE !!! Dealing with these people is a joke as far as billing and payments. This place is awful. It has lost it focus on the customer; you are nothing more than a number with money. I have lived in the area for 30 years and CarlinVision was the place to go; the hometown optical choice. They used to have a friendly and professional team. They now have become detached from the community with their snarky, snooty unprofessional approach and behavior. Customer service is nonexistence: rude employees, difficult process and hard sell. It appears they are now so busy that they could care less about retaining and servicing loyal customers. Save yourself time, money and the hassle. We have been patients of Carlin Vision for years!! Our entire family goes to this practice, however, today will be our last day. Our appointments this week, that we have had scheduled for over 6 weeks we're canceled by Allie at Carlin. She left us a nasty voice mail that we could come in on Friday. No consideration for the fact that we took off Wednesday for these appointments. When we called she was able to get us in again later but then was again super rude to my husband about the appointments. Came to find out our appointments were canceled because they are having a holiday party. By all means, please celebrate but goodness, in what business can you cancel on a client at the last minute because you forgot you had a holiday party. Never mind we live no where near and drive across the county to go to Carlin Vision. Neither of us have jobs that we can just drop to go at any time to the doctor. We are teachers and it's not easy to arrange to be out. The inconsiderate actions and just plain rude attitude of Allie will have us never be back. And sharing with all our friends how they treat educators who go to the practice. read more

Had cataract surgery. During the surgery the sedative stop working and I could see and feel them working on my eye. This made me jerk and resulted in Dr Carlin puncturing the bag holding the lens pieces that he was cutting up. Dark fluid began to flow to the back of my eye. The first thing he did was blame me for moving, like I had any choice. Let me stick a knife in your eye and see what you do. The next day when I went back to have the bandages removed, he said I was great and could do anything I normally do. He knew what the results were from his botched surgery but failed to alert me to any potential risk. I went to work and was driving back from downtown Atlanta and could no longer see out of that eye. I immediately called and was told to come in immediately. The older Dr David Carlin was not at the clinic so I saw his son. After a very short exam he told me I was fine and saw no issues. I went home in confusion as I still had pain and could not see out of the eye. Later that day the pain became so intense I called back this resulted in me having to go in every day through out the weekend and they reduced the pressure by squeezing out fluid with a needle. The pain and loss of site continued for two more weeks. Finally he referred me to a retnal doctor who set me up with emergency surgery. To cut this short I have permanently damaged eye and tunnel vision. Dr Carlin would not take any responsibility and charged for his botched surgery. His error cost me lost wages not counting damage to my mental state. I am alerting you to what might seem like oh he is great, it is only true unless he botches his surgery, then he becomes a non caring person who only cares about his money and practice. Dr. Richard Carlin performed my cataract surgery and botched it. I can no longer see clearly nor can I see beyond 4 inches in front of my face. His response after a subsequent PRK procedure was "we'll just keep doing it til we get it right". I said not with my eye! Haven't been back. Recently switched eye doctors after about 10 years so this was my first visit to CarlinVision. I appreciated how my appointment at Carlin was quick paced and I was in and out for a regular glasses & contact eye exam in right under an hour. The waiting area is really nice with complimentary snacks and drinks. What a disappointment! Beautiful offices. Great muffins & coffee & lemonade & cookies. Nice friendly PERSUASIVE staff. Apparently competent doctors. WRETCHED results! LIES. Many lies. Worst lie: Just get the top of the line laser surgery and best lenses in both eyes. You'll have no cataracts. Perfect 20/20 vision. No need for glasses, not even reading glasses. PERFECT vision and NO glasses! Oh yeah. Sign the disclaimer: I realize I could GO BLIND after the surgery. "Oh that's very unlikely But no guarantees. Sign the paper." Only $3500 a pop. (That was no lie.) Okay. Charge it. First surgery had many problems. VERY BLURRY vision in the "corrected" eye. No improvement after a few weeks to heal. I have diabetes. "Diabetic retinopathy" means bubbles in the retina. I'd heard the term but never looked it up. Bubbles.! Did I already have them? Was it bubbles instead of cataracts?? If so, they said not a word. But after the surgery, they showed me bubbles galore. "It's a very uncommon side effect." A lie of omission. It's a very common side effect of diabetes. Found that info on the internet. Staff and doctor kept INSISTING that I just needed to fix the OTHER eye. "Uneven vision naturally looks blurry. Do the second surgery. Then both eyes will match and all will be well. You'll get that perfect 20/20 vision..." Nope. Not buying that. Fix what you started. Then it was, "Wait and see. It just takes time." Bottle after bottle of very expensive eyedrops, each with a doctor visit. Specialist co-pay after Specialist co-pay. (No refill without a doctor visit.) The drops did nothing at all. Appointment = wait to get in, wait past the scheduled time. (Okay, that happens a lot with doctors.) The 15 minute exam would follow an exact script: "Any better?" "NO." "Wait and see.... Get more drops." SIX MONTHS of wait and see and PAY as you go. FINALLY I got the shot in the retina that I needed all along, the one they said I might need. That did help some. Bubbles diminished. NOT GONE. Okay. I want good vision so let's do the other eye. Charge it. $3500 again. That's with insurance. Yeah. You guessed it. Vision is far from perfect. Good for distance, blurry up close. VERY BLURRY. Worse than before the lasik. Must wear READING GLASSES, the ones they said I wouldn't need. And the $7000 charges? Of course I'm still paying. Paying for FAULTY SERVICE and "PERFECT" LIES. read more

I went here for about 3 years for my glaucoma. It was never under control even after surgery. A surgery was recommended that possibly wiuld not work. That is what I was told after I did my own research on it. I asked why didn't they try something else that would be a higher chance of success. I believe surgery is a big money maker for these doctors. The doctor even wanted to try another surgery. I said you didn't do the first one right why would I let you do another one? I am nowing seeing another glaucoma specialist who was able to get my eye pressure down immediately without surgery. By the way, when the new doctors checked my eye pressure it was not nearly as high as what Dr Carlin said it was. I will never go back there, they do not have my best interest at heart. They just want to do surgeries, and experiment on you to make more money off of you when one doesn't work. read more

I've been coming to carlin vision for about 10 years. This place was awesome when they were in their old building but since they moved into a building the size of a school, that intimate feel is gone. When you walk in, the receptionists are professional and direct with what you need to do. There are two waiting areas ...um..ok..? Both have snacks , jazzy water, coffee, etc. The wait is ridiculous! Over an hour, and I was on time. If I recall correctly, I've always had this issue with Carlin though. The ultimate reason after 10 years , I won't be returning is that I need a more personable feel for a doctor's office. When I was 15 with these reoccurring giant lumps in my eyelids that hurt like hell, dr. deRosa was recommended and he surgically removed them and they've never come back. He explained they were chalazeons, and told me why they came in the first place. Fast forward to today, and I feel like he and the rest of the staff are just so busy they don't have time to really even make eye contact. Let alone break each step of the visit down. I attempted to call the office manager, I was told Allie, two times and left messages each time, but no one returned my call. On my last visit, I began several simple tests and told covered by my medical insurance. I absolutely love Carlin. They are not your typical vision center. I love them because they cater to children. You don't feel like a number and you're not rushed. The staff is very friendly and professional. I have never had to wait an extremely long time and I can get an appointment immediately. My 5 year old daughter needed glasses last November so her pediatrician recommended Carlin. The doctor had the best bedside manors and made my daughters first experience getting eyeglasses a really good one. Even the part where they dialated her pupils. He talked her through the whole process and comforted her when she seemed afraid. The test they do for vision is on a child's level and is also comforting for the child and parent. I would recommend Carlin without hesitation. I beleive she saw Dr. Thompson. She is due for her annual checkup and I will be returning. Oh, as far as the price for glasses, we did not purchase from Carlin as they are very pricey for children's glasses. We took our prescription to Walmart and were able to get a nice frame for $9. My out of pocket cost was $56. She has a backup pair that were a little more expensive; however they were still cheaper than Carlin. read more

I seriously can't say enough GREAT things about CarlinVision in Snellville, GA. I'm blind as a bat but you'd never know because of them , their service, care, expertise, skill, e.t.c. I've been going to Carlin Vision since the 90s. Always went to Dr. Derosa but had to change to Dr. Wilman as my insurance changed. Dr. Derosa is wonderful but Dr. Wilman is great and did my cataract surgery last year and I just completed my 2018 exam last week. The optical department is great and Carlin takes my VSP insurance for exam and glasses. read more
