I ordered the Spam Kimbap as an appetizer -- first time trying it, and it was so good! I also had the Beef Bulgogi, which was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The sides were fresh and delicious, and everything tasted homemade. The restaurant itself is a tiny little gem, and the service was excellent -- Nicole was so kind and helpful. If you're wanting authentic Korean, this might not be the place for you. First indicator of that was when we saw that a whole section of the menu dedicated to burgers. And banchan only comes free with bulgogi meals and only if requested. (That's one of my favorite parts of Korean food, so big let down there). But once I set my expectations aside, it was overall enjoyable. We got the 4 piece yaki, something totally non-Korean that had meat and fried plantains, kimchi soup for me, fried tofu for my husband, beef soup for my father in law, and cheesy rice for the kids. The kimchi soup was okay, but not the flavor and ingredient packed kimchi jigae I was looking for. (So far nowhere in Lawton has been able to deliver on that) It was pretty simple, just broth, kimchi, and tofu. Not bad, and would probably be pretty comforting on a cold Lawton winter day, but it's not something I'd order a second time. My husband loved his fried tofu. I tried a bite, it was tasty and seared well. My father in law had no complaints over his soup, but he also wasn't singing its praises or anything. The crispiness of the yaki was perfect, but the filling just meh, and it didn't come with a dipping sauce. The plantain and meat dish was definitely my least favorite, but my father in law put some of the meat in his soup and he said it was way better that way. But the unexpected star of the evening was the cheesy rice. Super simple - just a mound of steamed white rice with scrambled egg covered in a cheese sauce. i want to go back just to order cheesy rice again, but try it paired with something like bulgogi. Even though the food was, for the most part, just okay, the best part of the visit was the great service. Didn't catch the server's name, but she was personable and friendly without hovering or being overbearing. We also loved the vibe of the restaurant itself. There were board games, a giant jenga set, a giant connect 4 set, and some arcade games. It wasn't super busy, so my girls were able to just kind of walk around entertaining themselves with the games while the adults finished eating. This casual spot which is open til really late (usually closes 11pm to 3am) offers Korean, Hawaiian, Caribbean, Mexican, Chinese, and American dishes as huge portions good for sharing, plus a full bar. I've probably left 2 reviews in my whole life, but I just want to save anyone who's looking for good bulgogi and good Korean sides. This is not the place. The bulgogi is just okay, and the sides were unflavored cucumber and broccoli and barely flavored bean sprouts and radish kimchi. No cabbage kimchi as listed on the menu. Nami or Yummy Yummy BBQ are both so good! I haven't tried any other Korean in Lawton. I'm disappointed, especially considering the money I spent on this. read more

THE JUNCTION (2022) ... Sadly at the beginning of this year we had some very special folks retire after 28+ years of running the Junction. Moses & Mama (to me) hung up their chopsticks and are taking a very well deserved retirement. They've always treated me like family and I will definitely miss their presence at the restaurant. If you're on Moses Facebook, you know he's enjoying it. I couldn't be more happy for them. Knowing my dear friends were no longer there, and during this ridiculous era we're going through, I couldn't get myself to return yet and meet the new owners. Well, last weekend I finally got up there. After being there about 5-minutes I saw one of the best sights come out of the kitchen to make this fat bellied old man happy. My old friend David Gracia is the new owner. He and his beautiful wife Dina Gracia were the ones to purchase this landmark restaurant. David used to be the cook at El Fogon, and I definitely loved his work there. I knew I was in good hands again. The menu is fantastic. Many things to come from our conversation that night. Not only will they have their legacy items, but they are expanding the menu to include some international cuisine. I'm always excited to try new foods and definitely look forward to what David & Dina are bringing to the plate. I had ordered a sampling of items, with the plan to bring home leftovers. I was not disappointed and my tastebuds (and belly) were extremely satisfied. If you haven't been by The Junction in a while, I highly recommend you do drop in. They have kept the late night hours for the weekend. I believe it's until 3am Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Fun place for some korean fusion dishes. Hand made Yakimandu was great. Everyday and anyway better than getting it frozen. Fusion kimchi fried rice with chorizo and bits of pickled jalapeño (that last ingredient was interesting). Bulgogi was good but not enough for the price point.. Sides were traditional in presentation but didn't have the taste you would expect. So that was kinda fun. Odd smell was a little off putting. Meh... .. but it's kind of hidden so gps should take you here. If I had to guess I would say this used to be either a pool hall or a pizza parlor. When you first walk in you do a double-take because you will walk into two pool tables and a jukebox machine making you think you are at a bar and then you see two pool tables and realize okay it might be a restaurant as well but don't let that discourage you if you are daring if you can try the food here. I should have read the recent reviews and they were not very convincing that I should have tried but I took the leap of faith and fell flat on my face. I ordered the Korean beef and the fried tofu was not a very good presentation everything comes in a to-go box not like the others pictures so they changed something. The tofu was okay if you are very hungry but the Korean barbecue beef I had two bites and it was like beef jerky like someone else reviewed. Only ate half of it and left. The ice tea is very good here at least and the owner/manager or wherever he is his kind of nice I guess. Nice that they stay open late but the food isn't screaming authentic. Only thing worth the trip was the beef soup. The Bulgogi was ok, it was tender with a nice flavor but not something that says buy me next time. The garlic chicken was extremely bland and the Yaki Mandu had little to no filling. Visiting a friend for the weekend in Lawton, OK with not many breakfast options, my friend recommended Junction City and boy are we happy about it! It's a made from scratch kitchen where everything you order tastes like grandma made it! There was not a long wait when we arrived, though we went on a Monday. There was plenty of seating- booth or table seating. The manager Phillip made and brought us our mimosas, as well as made sure we had everything we needed (as we can be a needy bunch) but he never made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. The fresh fruit mimosas were SO REFRESHING!! They were in a 6 oz flute so we did our best to sip slowly to make them last. The pancakes were THE STAR . They were so perfectly made like grandma used to make them where they get stuck to the roof of your mouth. The sausage was amazing. Eggs were fresh eggs- not made from powder. SOOOOOO happy we stopped in and will definitely go back when we visit Lawton again! read more

I have always enjoyed The Junction, but the new owners and managers have made it better than ever. I love their Bulgogi, and that's what I usually get. I'm not much for Kimchi, so they give me extra cucumbers. Those cool cumcumbers go great with Bulgogi. read more

AVOID "THE JUNCTION". Ordered the spam fried rice (which you can see is not fried rice) and it was gritty and not good. BARELY ate it but according to them, the manager(s) were not in and the rule is: if you basically tasted your food, it's considered as eaten, so they won't refund your meal.. how else would I know it's not good if I did not taste it? Save your money because I've never had such an experience. They claim the manager will give me a call, which I highly doubt will occur. I was not asking for my whole bill to be refunded by any means so the fact that I barely ate my meal and they would not refund something that was undercooked and not good, was unacceptable. My wife and I decided to go to the new location of the Junction for her birthday. The place was packed, (always a good sign). Our waitress, Shelly did an amazing job of service and friendliness. The food was delicious and priced at a reasonable rate. Also, the music and general atmosphere was very pleasing. As retired music educators, we took special note of the music playing in the background, which was quite appropriate for the setting. We then ask Shelley, if the owner was working to which she replied that she was. I asked to speak to her, and she graciously came to our table and had a delightful conversation. Dina was very personable and friendly. We told her that we would recommend her establishment and that we would be back again. We can't recommend this restaurant enough. read more

It saddens me to rate one of my favorite old hangout so low... its changed, plain and simple. We arrived to the same run down place I came to love in my early 20's. With a large group, we decided to sit in the raised section of the restaurant. My friend told me when I suggested to not order the large bulgogi as they give you the same portion as a regular- so we all opted for that. My friends daughter was also with us -her kids bulgogi was on one side of her plate and rice was on the other. I also scooted mine over to put rice and broccoli on my plate, it was disappointing they were also almost the same amount. Our waitress was nice, but I never once was asked if I needed more to drink. The owner came over and greeted us.. but started slamming the chairs around to move the table next to us. It was extremely disturbing. We finished our meal and went up to the counter to pay our ticket. The owner checked us all out and was EXTREMELY RUDE. It made me so upset to be basically mocked and interrupted when I spoke. Nothing better than a dive bar meets Korean restaurant with food served until 4am! Service is genuinely friendly. The decor is fabulously 1970s dive bar with comfy seats and tables, a small bar, a jukebox, and 2 pool tables. The location is tucked away off Cache Road. I loved the delicious meal. I had hot bulgogi, the spice was perfect and it was topped with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. The sides were cool and vinegary and complemented the spicy bulgogi well. My favorites were the broccoli and what tasted like scrambled eggs squares. Bonus points for being one of the few places in Lawton that serve their tea unsweetened! Best kept hidden jem. It looks a bit shady but it's worth it, Moses & the staff are some of the sweetest people I've met.

My initial reaction upon entering this establishment was a let down. It's cold as dark with an old timey feel to it. The tables and chairs are clean but their prices are a bit high for Korean food. No prices on the menu for drinks so pretty much you either have to ask the cost or be surprised upon receiving the bill. The sodas come in a can so there are no 'fountain drinks' per say. There are no descriptions of what the dishes consist of nor if there were sides that would come with the meal. I asked the lady if she had chicken and cheese ramen (a favorite while I was in Korea) and she gave me an attitude and it took a while for her to say yes. It seems as if she was either offended or amazed that I didn't know that she had that. When my food came, the chicken and cheese ramen had four extremely small pieces of chicken. I mean it was as if you took two chicken nuggets and cut them in halves and threw them in a bowl. I am very unsatisfied with this meal. If you've been to Korea before, you would honestly have a sense of withdrawal while eating this food. I won't be back here. read more

The Junction is delicious and an important Lawton staple. However I avoid it now and prefer to stick to Gangdam Style. After years and years of light-hearted abuse from the owner I was ecstatic to finally just sit down somewhere and eat Korean food without being made fun of or being embarassed. Obviously it's all in good fun, but there will always be some people for whom that is not actually fun, and I am one of them. And it's not like you can speak up and ask him to back off because he, is, after all, the one in charge of feeding you... Frankly it just puts you in a weird position as a customer. If you want to be an insult comic, open a comedy club, not a restaurant. But I can recommend to anyone the spicy tofu, kimchi fried rice, and of course, the bulgolgi.
