Angels Camp Jumping Frog Motel entry
    Luci B.

We stayed here spur of the moment (not planning ahead for lodging) on a getaway back to the Angels Camp area which we love, after finding out pretty much ALL lodging in the area was booked due to the Butte fire last fall. Most lodging is still being used by those displaced and those helping or volunteering with the efforts. Kudos to those still helping! The 60's style Jumping Frog Motel is nothing to shout out about; it's the standard small motel you'd find in any town (think along Route 66) but the location is good, right across the street from the newer shopping center with a Rite Aid, fast food places, supermarket (I think Savemart), etc. Semi quiet, low noise from the main street. We paid around $70 per night, a little pricey IMO but... Rooms are compact and basically clean (hey, the motel has been around!); WiFi with password, we had a very comfy queen bed, a small table and chairs, small vanity area in the main room, standard stuff, flat screen cable TV with great reception, walk-in closet and roomy barebones shower. Only complaint was the toilet seat is low so that if your guy is 6'4" like mine his knees will be hitting his chin. :P Peeking through a few windows to the room next door, it seems the layouts are pretty much the same as our room. Definitely not recommended for a honeymoon or lots of kids but it's good for testing the strength of a relationship... the only better way to test is to go camping in a tent... Just kidding (or maybe not!)! We both enjoyed it (location was good but outside of old Angels Camp, a mile down the road). Good in a pinch. 3 stars.

I guess at 127.99 per night they can't afford to fix the holes in the walls!

I arrived and welcomed warmly by the front desk hostess. Check In was easy peasy. Upon entering my room #108, I noticed it was and ADU unit. Sweet! Large entry, beautiful decor, and a walk in shower that easily could fit 2! Lol. That shower the next day was amazing and the Shampoo/Cream Rinse (Lecoupe Brand) awesome! Now breakfast is not what I would have expected and yes disappointing. There was a waffle station and your customary cold cereals, muffins, yogurt, etc. Heat and eat breakfast sandwiches and burritos in place of standard eggs, sausage, B&G. There is also a huge parking area in the back to accommodate RV's and large trailers. I have several photos but they're already on the yelp pics by others. Check out the shower pic! Thanks to all for a great stay.

We have seen this place get renovated a couple times now and the management is getting better and better with giving the people what they want. Although I do miss the pool towels being freely available by the pool area, there are plenty of better benefits added to compensate for that. Watching a movie while in the jacuzzi, the fun games around the office, and the cold snacks on some days are a nice touch. The renovated rooms are definitely the best part of coming to this place, the golf course nearby and the deer make it feel peaceful and quiet. We will continue to come to this place couple of times a year as long as it's maintained and keeps on improving.

I saw so many deers during my stay. They have pools, jacuzzis, sports (basketball, tennis, pickle ball). They also have an activities center for games and movie nights. They cafe was great too. The town home style rooms were roomy and had a full kitchen and two balconies (first and second floor). The primary room had a walk in closet and beautiful windows. I did see insects in the dishwasher (as expected, you are in the middle of the woods - they must've went through the sewer drains). I also felt pressured to sign up for timeshare from the staff. Other than that I had a good experience.

A very comfortable and quiet little cottage. Although, the bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower. There are no tvs in the cottages and the WiFi is a little dodgy. Cell phone reception isn't the best either. I think what I am getting at is that you can really disconnect when you say at La Honda Park. You are forced to communicate with your loved ones. The cottages are only equipped with a microwave. If you want to cook something more robust, there is a communal kitchen in the pool house. Believe me, it has everything you need. Also, there are bbqs in just about every common area. Aside from the beautiful grounds and comfortable accommodations, there is the barn. The barn is probably the best part about this place. It has a foosball table, a pool table, poker table, dart board, and a tv. The back doors slide open to a small seating area overlooking Angel Creek. I can't describe it. You just need to experience. The owner are Jenn and Barr. They were so nice. Once we checked in, they left us alone. In fact, they left the property. Besides my family, there was another family staying in the Main House. They were very nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back and sit next to the creek and drink my morning coffee.

A gaggle of girlfriends rented three cottages here, as three of us were celebrating our 40th/41st birthdays. The perfect "home base" for staging an attack upon Murphys downtown shopping, dining and wine tasting establishments, or as a leap-off point for local hikes and the gorgeous Moaning and Mercer Caverns. Each cottage is appointed with a gas-fueled faux wood-stove fireplace (easy operation via thermostat), fridge, micro, coffee maker, basic silverware/plates/cups, wonderful showers (great for power-washing off the mud and sweat after a day of rappelling and spelunking!) and extremely comfortable queen beds. Each cottage has its own character, giving the feel of the kind of decor a favorite aunt might select for your family's personal mountain cabin. Extremely clean and comfortable! Hang out by the fire, or chill out on your own front porch overlooking the lawn and creek. Or... ...head over to The Barn, a communal recreation room appointed with an air-hockey table, pool table, kitchen area (including a wine fridge!) and big-screen satellite TV/sat radio. The Barn was recently remodeled, using reclaimed barnwood, corrugated metal (for the ceiling sub-roof) and a pretty brilliant wallcovering that looks like warm old plaster, but is actually recycled craft paper and some sort of natural varnish. Cool! Also, a few relics from the region's mining days. There are board games, darts, books and other stuff to keep the individual, family or small group entertained. There's a large swimming pool (unheated in winter) and a small wading pool adjacent to another community kitchen and outdoor picnic area, and the only thing this area lacks is a hot tub. (Hint, hint!) Finally, there's Cosmo, the biggest, sweetest cat you'll ever want to kidnap. He's not allowed in the cabins, but he'll happily keep you company as you read a book on the porch, or wander up to the beautiful waterfalls behind the barn. He'll also keep score if you want to use the bocce court or horseshoe pits! Parking is limited, so don't expect to haul in ATV trailers or your RVs, but that's about the only con to this wonderful little family-run resort!

My parents have a house…read moreon the course, so it's been a course we've gotten to play a ton, and it's a good challenge for all skill levels. They are currently going through another ownership change, but from what the pro shop guys have said, it's all good things coming. The greens have some crabgrass issues, but other than that they are rolling pretty good. The greenside bunkers have gotten much better over the past few months, but the fairway ones still need some work. Since the new ownership change, the tee time pricing is now dynamic. We called to make a reservation instead of booking online, and that was a mistake. Definitely check online for the best price as most of the prices were cheaper than what we ended up paying. Twilight starts at 1pm, and honestly $75 with a cart is a solid deal. 2/3 rounds I played this past weekend were under 4 hours. 4th of July the course was empty and made for a very enjoyable round. The one area the course as a whole can improve on is the food at the clubhouse. Not sure if there's been change, but the food has been real bland the last few times. It's pricey as well, which makes us want to pack a lunch instead of buying it on the course. Lynette the bartender is the best though! Overall, excited to see how the new ownership improves the course over the next few months and beyond and can't wait to be back up to play again.
