Ah, China Village...walked into this place and immediately thought I was in a food court of a mall…read morein 1993! From the lights, to the furniture, prices and of course the picture board menu above the counter. Everything about China Village screamed old school and also "this about to be good"! Sitting in a small, worn out shopping plaza just off of Highway 41/Dickerson, China Village is a solid spot for cheap, plentiful and tasty Chinese takeout. It is not much to look at and if you can get past the bars on the windows, you are in store for a treat. Delivery is not offered currently and you can technically eat in, but while there are tables there, it is not really set up for a good dine-in experience. I rang them up on a Friday evening to order (2) Sesame Chicken plates and (1) Large Wonton Soup. From order to arrival was about 20 minutes, and it was hot and ready! Overall, we are new to this side of town and while the whole "no delivery" thing is a bummer, China Village is definitely our go-to spot for a cheap and tasty Chinese night in.

In my 31 years on this earth, I can safely say this is the worst hot and sour soup I've had. I…read morereally wish I didn't tip over 40%. The one star has nothing to do with the fact that I had to make my gun accessible in my car, because of the hood rats walking around. This soup should be illegal. It looks like they used a little bit of the sewage as part of the recipe. I hope inspection comes by and shuts this place down. They don't deserve to be open another day. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful, tossing the whole order out.

Food is good, not life changing- that would be rare for "take out Chinese" around Nashville…read more Service was quick- folks were nice. Not a lot of seating so know that while planning. A little over priced IMO.

My wife came to visit me from California and we only had two nights together in Nashville, so we…read moredecided to go on a date here. Unfortunately it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. After ordering, no one told us how long the wait would be. Thirty minutes passed, then forty-five minutes, then over an hour. Each time we asked, we were told it would be "just a couple more minutes." After 1 hour and 20 minutes, it was already around 8:30 PM and we had essentially spent our entire evening waiting for food that never came. I finally asked for a refund. They refunded the order, but there was no apology and no attempt to make the situation right, even after we had waited that long. What made the situation even worse was that a lady who ordered about 5 minutes before we finally left was given what appeared to be our food, even though we had already been waiting over an hour and 20 minutes. Watching someone who ordered after us receive food while we walked away with nothing was incredibly frustrating. The food here might be good--we honestly wouldn't know. But the system and communication were extremely poor, and the way the situation was handled left us feeling completely disregarded. When someone only has a couple nights in town, an experience like this really matters. I hope the restaurant works on their ordering system and customer service so others don't have the same experience.

I loved this place and got quite inebriated while I was loving it so much…read more Good news is that I walked here from my hotel room and could just walk back. Now... if only I could remember where I am staying. LOL. Just kidding! I made it. I got so lit in Japanese whiskey flights that I ordered enough food for two people. The "Flight to Tokyo" lived up to its namesake tremendously. That dang whiskey is wicked man. Combined with the beers that go down like water and you may be like me.... Wasted Soup dumplings are so damn cool. It's also either an engineering marvel or some sort of biblical miracle. How is the soup born inside the little dumpling?? So many questions!! I had some here and they were sure tasty!! I also had some killer crispy fried pork belly and some kick ass twice fried Korean wings!! Pork belly had tremendous umami flavors and was sticky sweet and yummy all at once! Loved it! But then came the Star.... I love chicken wings as much as I love life! That my friend, is a whole fucking lot!! I am more full of myself than you could possibly imagine. I loved these particular chicken wings a little more than life. I walked through downtown Nashville alone, on a random weeknight, just to eat these wings because I saw them on Yelp. I had already eaten dinner at Eddie V's earlier in the evening, but these wings called me from more than a mile away... Come eat me, Adam.... Is all I could hear after I saw others pictures of the wings.... Shhhh. Wings. I can't. But you must, said the wings.... I can't, I have no transportation.... You have two feet still, the wings said... Guess who won that argument? '26 - 23

Hawkers was such a great experience from start to finish! I came in on a Wednesday evening around…read more7:30 p.m., and even though the restaurant was busy, my party was seated right away. The ambience is bright and energetic, with fun neon signs and decor. The space feels open and spacious with plenty of seating. We started our night with the Pork Belly Bao Buns, but since they were out of pork belly, we tried the Chinese BBQ Pork instead. I wasn't upset because they were phenomenal. The Soup Dumplings were just as amazing, but the Roti Canai (Malaysian flatbreads with curry sauce) stole the show. The curry was rich with the perfect amount of spice. You're missing out if you skip the appetizers here. For my entrée, I ordered the Hong Kong Wonton Noodle Soup, and all I can say is wow. The broth and tender wontons were the perfect combination. My boyfriend loved his Pad Thai as well, and the only downside was the portion size for the price. I want to give a huge shoutout to our server, Jaylen, for making the experience top-notch. He was incredibly attentive, patient, and offered great recommendations through the night. Hawkers is on my list for date nights, ladies' nights, or a casual evening out (especially for drinks and appetizers!)
