Having my dog with a bunch of others, sometimes that happens so I don't blame them at all. What I appreciated was their quick response to it!!

During our vacation, communication was extremely poor. After seeing a concerning photo of our dog appearing to have an altercation with another dog, we tried repeatedly to get updates. We had to keep reaching out ourselves and ultimately had to ask the owner to send us a photo because we had gone days without seeing or hearing anything about him. At pickup, we were initially charged the wrong amount. We had also paid for an exit bath, but were told it had been removed because they weren't sure whether it had been done. When we got our dog into the car, he smelled strongly like he had not been bathed at all. The most disappointing part was the way our concerns were handled. Rather than acknowledging them or apologizing, the interaction felt defensive and dismissive. We won't be boarding our dog here again. Communication, organization, and customer service all need significant improvement.

Before we used the pet resort for the first time, I paid a visit to check the place out. This is the basic description of my tour. Immunizations were checked before my dog was even allowed to tour the kennel with me. My dog was very calm while touring and showed no signs of being nervous or hesitant. We were welcomed and encouraged to tour the kennel (pet owners know this isn't always the case at every facility). I found the place to be very clean and the people to be nice and competent. I was informed of what a typical day there would be like for my dog. I was shown where food would be kept, the yard and the row of kennels downstairs. I was shown the "communication board" where pet information was written. I was shown and told of the way everything runs here and informed of extra costs and the choices I could make for my pet's stay. I filled out some paperwork and the staff documented shot records. Afterwards, I determined this place was perfect and I was more than ok with everything they would do and not do for my pet and chose to entrust this business to care for my beloved beagle Sam. I knew he would be comfortable and well cared for here and he was. The Dogwood Pet Resort did a 5 star job! I gave 4 stars because I needed to pick up on Sunday and the hours are limited. A same day dog bath on a Sunday pickup wasn't an option. All known to me ahead of time, but still a bummer.

My most recent visit, I boarded my two dogs for 8 nights and had given instructions to give my dog his anxiety medication once daily. Upon pick up, I was told he didn't receive his medication and specific wording from the worker (Colleen) was "it's as needed right" despite giving specific instructions for once daily AND the pill bottle saying the same. I called once I got my dogs home to ask why the medication wasn't given and the workers exact words were "I forgot" and "I just got back from vacation and didn't see his medication written on the board." She did say he got the med the two days she wasn't there and still charged me for those days. After giving it some thought, I decided that mistakes happen and I was willing to continue to board my dogs there for my next trip. I called to reserve them a spot and was told they were full. I called back to ask to be placed on a waiting list and the same worker said she would call me by the end of the day the next day and let me know if she had anything open up. I never received a call. At this point, it's just bad business and clear this worker doesn't care about the clients.

I have a 7month old Lab puppy, she is a wiggly monster. They were able to trim her nails in 5 min. They didn't shame me or make me feel bad that my puppy is a puppy. I couldn't wait to schedule an appointment-you can tell everyone there will care for your dog. They talked to Luna and I don't even think she barked because the attention they gave her- fabulous service! Oh and for a nail trim they let me do a walk in! I had been struggling trying to trim myself and her nails were getting knarly so they saved me!

I was looking for a puppy to replace my aging service dog & I had a ton of questions which they were always glad to answer. I was looking for an ethical breeder & all their certifications, licenses + non-profit made me feel better about their business. Keep in mind if you're looking for a popular doodle - especially if you want particular colorings - most likely there is going to be a waitlist & required deposit well in advance. They require you to sign legal documents committing to buying the dog from them when you make your non-refundable deposit which I found stressful. They also don't allow you to meet dogs in person (but do virtually) when you select your pup - you meet your pup on pick up. Their website was out of date but I found this common amongst breeders I talked to. The thing that I cannot talk more positively about is my dog herself. The temperament of a service dog is essential. Kathy & Alex are intentionally breeding dogs for a low key & mellow temperament. I now have a service dog puppy in training who while only a few months old can calmly hangout in a space I am in. She requires exercise & attention when we are done & home but people are amazed by her quiet & calm presence when we are out. When I have been anxious about something going on with her I can reach out to them & they respond with helpful information to ease my worries. If you're looking for an ethical breeder with quality dogs have a conversation with them to see if they have a pup compatible with your household & needs.
