I will never regret bringing our baby boy home, and we are grateful that we have the means to care for him because the care he needs is a lot of money . That said, our experience was deeply concerning. Our dog has since been diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and elbow issues, which has been heartbreaking to navigate. I am not saying that is puget sounds direct reflection but it means something .. When we arrived at the home, we were invited inside, but the conditions were extremely dirty. The dog was not present when we arrived, and we waited approximately 40 minutes for the owner's daughter to bring him. He was handed to us and carried rather than allowed to walk. Once we left and placed him on the ground, it was clear he struggled significantly--at four months old, it appeared as though he had little to no experience walking. His hindquarters were completely shaved while the rest of his body was not, which raised immediate concern. It appeared he may have been sitting in his own waste and not regularly cleaned. He was also dyed yellow; our veterinarian later informed us that Lime Sulfur Dip is commonly used to treat conditions such as ringworm. His ears were blackened from what appeared to be long-term lack of cleaning. During the long drive home, we had to roll the windows down in the middle of winter due to the strong odor. The medical records we were provided were handwritten on paper and barely legible, with vaccinations written in by hand and explained as being difficult to read because the "ink was out." While the owner was kind, she appeared to have significant mobility challenges and was unable to walk down the stairs, which raised concerns about her ability to safely and adequately manage multiple dogs. I regret not writing this review sooner, but I felt it was important to share our experience. I truly hope that other dogs were not treated similarly and that they are all healthy and well cared for. read more

Ignore the negative reviews. As someone who researched & interviewed several breeders in multiple states I really appreciated the prompt & thorough information I got from them. I was looking for a puppy to replace my aging service dog & I had a ton of questions which they were always glad to answer. I was looking for an ethical breeder & all their certifications, licenses + non-profit made me feel better about their business. Keep in mind if you're looking for a popular doodle - especially if you want particular colorings - most likely there is going to be a waitlist & required deposit well in advance. They require you to sign legal documents committing to buying the dog from them when you make your non-refundable deposit which I found stressful. They also don't allow you to meet dogs in person (but do virtually) when you select your pup - you meet your pup on pick up. Their website was out of date but I found this common amongst breeders I talked to. The thing that I cannot talk more positively about is my dog herself. The temperament of a service dog is essential. Kathy & Alex are intentionally breeding dogs for a low key & mellow temperament. I now have a service dog puppy in training who while only a few months old can calmly hangout in a space I am in. She requires exercise & attention when we are done & home but people are amazed by her quiet & calm presence when we are out. When I have been anxious about something going on with her I can reach out to them & they respond with helpful information to ease my worries. I got my pup, Mia (female mini bernedoodle) from Kathy and Alexandra in January 2019. She's wonderful and the light of my life. I lived in SF and had a video call with them to see the puppies that hadn't been spoken for. I got luckily that there were a few to choose from (after being waist listed indefinitely with so many other breeders). They had JUST posted the litter so it felt like fate. We had 2 video calls to ensure I was happy with my selection. Alexandra and her son met me at the Seattle airport so I could carry Mia home with me on my flight. It felt a little flustered -- I had to bring the deworming medicine on the flight with me (standard for puppies to need reworming after birth) but I wasn't sure the liquid would be allowed on board. Security was great given it was a small amount and clearly medicine while I had the pup with me -- flight went off without a hitch. That was the only hiccup I experienced logistically. Mia is now 2.5 yrs old and in great health. She's VERY smart (and with that comes stubborn at times -- we actively work to give her consistent, continuous training and it really pays off!). I called today to get some information about available puppies on their site. We've always adopted our pups from shelters and have never purchased from a breeder but our aging mother wanted a Bernedoodle so go through a breeder we must. I explained to the person on the phone the above and that we've never purchased through a breeder and so I would like to get more information about the process. She immediately goes on and on about how they're USDA certified and that means they can have a lot of pups available without them being a puppy mill. I noticed that there were some pups on the site that were "on sale" and asked her why/what determined if a puppy was put "on sale" and she responds: "who are you? Do you really not know what sale means? How do you now know what a sale is?" I try to explain to her that I obviously know what the concept of a sale is but that I was trying to understand what determines a pup being on sale. Is it color? Age? Litter? Genetics? She says that as an adopter, she doesn't need to explain her business practices to me and that her business decisions are irrelevant to the adoption process. I kept trying to explain my position that I was new to the purchase-from-a-breeder process and apologized over and over again for any stupid questions, but if the regular price for a pup is $5000+ and you have pups on sale for $1500, I'm going to want to know why there's a price difference and it sure as hell would be something that would factor into my purchase decision. She was so rude and condescending. If she's like that just during an intro call, I can't imagine how horrid she must be to actually do business with. She is totally the Dolores Umbridge of dog breeders. read more

This is the second review I'm leaving for this company, they have recently contacted a law firm to instruct me to remove my first post because they do not agree with it. I now have a cease and desist warning letter from CAJLawyers, which funny enough this law firm will not return my calls either. I contacted Puget Sound Doodles via their web form in April 2020, about their upcoming June F1 mini Bernedoodle litter that was available. Kathy responded right away (via email and text) and confirmed there was availability, 4th on the list. I paid the $500 litter deposit, and she said she'd they be in touch. I followed their Instagram and website, and waited patiently. Finally, when it was July and I hadn't heard from Kathy, I emailed. No response. I waited a week and texted. No response. I waited another week and emailed again. By this time, all mention of the litter had been removed from their website--and no one was responding, so I knew something was up. I was being ghosted. I finally received a form email that started, "Dear valued customer." It explained the litter was smaller than expected so there were not enough puppies. I understand this can be the case sometimes, but it doesn't explain why they didn't tell me when they knew (weeks before), ignored my emails/texts, or why they removed ALL mention of the litter on their website or IG. It didn't add up. Kathy offered two options: 1) purchase a standard sized puppy, or 2) join a waitlist for a F1 mini, although she wouldn't tell me how many people were on the waitlist and didn't know when they might be ready to breed again for that breed. I told her neither worked: As stated in her receipt, my deposit had been for a specific litter and F1 mini breed ... and I didn't feel comfortable joining waitlist if she didn't have a clear plan. I requested a refund. When she didn't respond after a week, I filed a claim with PayPal. Ultimately, my claim was denied because PayPal doesn't protect this type of purchase. I was out $500 and 4 months behind on our puppy search, but the hardest part was breaking the news to my children that there was no pup that late in the process. In the end, I was able to find a different breeder who was very transparent about their litter timelines, waitlist order, dame/sires, and puppy development. That's the type of transparency and communication you want to see from a reputable breeder. read more

We are very fortunate to have found our gorgeous mini bernedoodle from Puget Sound Doodles and would highly recommend this breeder. Kathy and Alexandra do a wonderful job with their dogs. We've taken our pup to socialize at Puppyworks and for a training class at another facility and everyone tells us how confident and polite he is; he's clearly a very well-bred puppy and we have Kathy and Alexandra to thank for that. Communication can be somewhat slow, but as a busy mom, I completely understand how busy life can get for the team with so many dogs of which they take such excellent care. read more

Be careful. We waited a long time after putting down a deposit for a "first choice" of the litter. Out of nowhere we were called to "pick up the puppy". Then we heard nothing with weeks going by. Communications were rare if at all. We constantly requested pictures of the puppies and parents. NONE were sent. We ended up asking for our money back, they refused, but fortunately the institution we used for the deposit refunded our money after reviewing all the text and e-mails we had. In my opinion Pugent Sound Doodles is not a professional organization and does not follow through on commitments. There is a risk of bait and switch with the deposit where the deposit will not be refunded even when stated it will be. Below is my story so far. On 11/16/2022 a deposit was placed for a puppy on the company's website. This was after three phone conversations were had about the nature of the puppy and the requirements we were seeking in a pet. All conversations were had with the owner and at no time did she state our requirements were in conflict with the actual nature of the puppy in question. The website also stated no conflict with our requirements After the deposit was paid we requested an up to date picture of the puppy as we were excited to adopt a pet. At this time the owner texted us saying the nature of the puppy was different and she offered us a discount on other puppies or a full refund of the deposit. We accepted the offer of a full refund and then she began sending us a series of bizarre texts that skirted around the issue of her providing a refund. This went on for over a day. We contacted the owner via phone on 11/20 in an attempt to amicably resolve the situation and requested that the phone call be documented. The owner hung up on me. The owner has also declined to involve her business partner or her attorney. As of 11/21 an email pursuant to legal action has been send to Puget Sound Doodles as the refund has not been provided. read more

Kathy and Alex are excellent people who clearly care about the health and upbringing of their pups. From the start they were happy to spend quite a while on the phone with me to explain how they breed and care for their puppies, and what to expect from the adoption process. Since this was my first time buying from a breeder I was keen to do my research, and Kathy obliged to provide me with lots of details and guidance. A few days later she even texted me to follow up and see how my search was going, which I really appreciated. After finishing my research I decided to go with Puget Sound Doodles given their experience, accreditations, customer service, and the availability of the health/genetic information for their parent dogs. A few weeks later we now have a very cuddly, confident, and healthy puppy who has exceeded all of our expectations. It's clear to us that Kathy and Alex gave her a great start on crate training, potty training, socialization, and self soothing given how good our pup is at it all from day one--and as first time puppy parents we couldn't appreciate this more! As far as the couple of negative reviews, I'd take them with a grain of salt. I found both Kathy and Alex to be very friendly and communicative through the entire process, and it is abundantly clear that they deeply care about the dogs they bring into this world. If you treat them with respect and kindness, they will return it twofold. read more

We worked with both Kathy and Alexandra to buy a standard bernedoodle 2 years ago and I have nothing but good things to say about them. We called on a whim about a puppy. I grew up with Bernese mountain dogs but my husband wasn't a fan of the drool so he found Puget Sound and they had 3 pups ready to go home. We FaceTimed on a Wednesday and by Friday we were picking our pup up at the airport. This is a family owned business, they care about their dogs and aren't in the business to over breed just to meet a wait list. We ended up picking the only boy they had left in the liter and they warned us he would be big as they wanted to make sure we knew what we were getting. He was 25lbs at 10 weeks and now at 2 he's 115lbs and taller than me and I'm 5'5". He's had no health issues and is a happy goofy boy. On the bright side in my case, I finally received a reply from the breeder...the first since a week before the puppy viewing appointment that they didn't show up for. As mentioned in my earlier review, we did receive a refund so ultimately we were not scammed. It just tends to feel that way when your puppy viewing appointment set up by the breeder is then missed by the breeder and all further communications to the breeder to reschedule go unreturned. If you're willing to pay nearly $6k for a puppy and be ghosted throughout the whole process, with the possibility of being denied at the last minute, then this is the breeder for you. Good luck. Again, do your research and adopt elsewhere. It may take longer, but you will be saved from having to write 1-Star reviews on Yelp when you too are deemed unfit for one of their puppies for no reason whatsoever. read more

We recently brought Kanella, a lovely Bernadoodle, into our home from Puget Sound Doodles. She had clearly been been loved and has a sweet personality. She is great with our other dogs and so affectionate with our young grandchildren. Alex was great at communication before the purchase by sending pictures, health information, and answering all of our questions. We were greeted in a warm professional manner on pickup day and were given time to get to know Kanella before bringing her home. Alex has followed up since the purchase regarding our satisfaction as well as to check on Kanella's wellbeing. Beware of scam. We were lured similar to the other reviewers into attempting to pay a deposit of $1000 to just see the puppy. The address was not given and repeatedly mentioned that "for security reasons, we cannot give address until deposit". We exchanged some messages and felt very suspicious. From. August 5th: Fraud in the highest degree with multiple families - including mine. I adopted a 10 week old mini bernedoodle puppy, as I had pick of the litter. Response to questions were minimal before I adopted her. No pictures as requested and the stud that they said would be there was not. There was bloody stool in the whelping box. My pup has had bloody diarrhea and malabsorption since day one. We have had her for six weeks. Have followed vet's advice with treating the giardia and coronavirus that contracted with three different rounds of antibiotics - she can not tolerate any food - even the most basic rice and fish. We see our third vet tomorrow - as my extremely underweight and needs to have a treatment plan. The breeder failed to give answers to my concerns, then told me that their attorney advised them to cease communication, as they have done with other customers who adopted sick puppies from the Lemelson's. As of today? The breeder still takes no responsibility for the Breeder's Choice / Pick of the litter that cost me thousands more since I received her almost nine weeks ago. This puppy is in renal failure. At 18 weeks. Breeder will not respond and now threatens to sue due to my review. Or, maybe it is because they are being exposed on Instagram as being a puppy mill. Either way, do your homework before using Puget Sound Doodles or their sister company, Pacific Doodles. Here is their very professional response: Puget Sound Doodles LLC Response 08/05/2020 Nancy your false accusations and lies will only come back on you. All of our dogs live here with our family. The litter from which your puppy came was so wonderful that I myself kept two and neither of them have any health issues. We further have no other families complaining. The bottom line is you are angry because we would not promote your art on our website. Please arrange to have your samples picked up in that you are no longer welcome in our home. I had such an amazing experience this afternoon with Kathy and Alex at Puget Sound Doodles! We picked up a beautiful little girl as a companion for my mom, who is in her mid-70's. As a lifelong animal lover and activist, I was incredibly impressed not only by their beautiful and tranquil facility, but also with their commitment and obvious love for their dogs. We just welcomed our puppy home this week. Our experience with Kathy and Alexandra was flawless. My husband was very wary when I told him I had found a breeder (400 miles from our home!) with available puppies. He thought the breeder couldn't possibly be reputable and that something was fishy because they didn't have a waitlist. He was 100% wrong on both fronts. In this world where breeders are making people wait 9 months for puppies, you can't get anyone on the phone, everyone wants $500+ deposits just to be put on a waitlist, Puget Sound Doodles is a complete outlier. They are passionate about breeding and raising high quality dogs who actually are available for pick up! They care about the homes their puppies are going to and standby their dogs health and breeding. Our new little guy, Roscoe, is so sweet and mellow, great with the kids and already highly trainable. They also threatened that if we complained publicly they would sue us or take away the dog, which after a few days of course my daughter had fallen in love with. The dogs had clearly not been socialized, and my dog is still afraid of all strangers and startles at most noises. She came home with worms and so her first few nights were awful until we sorted it out. The adult dogs were kept in crowded and dirty kennels.
