The food was pretty good no got the carne asada tacos- chips and salsa was pretty good. One of the better places we've been here in Del Rio.

Ordered a bacon and egg plate, with eggs over medium. Before my food came, I was informed that "the eggs and bacon were mixed together". I acceded. What I wound up with was an "IKEA breakfast taco"! A pile of scrambled eggs (with bacon mixed in) a group of potatoes, a stack of beans, a mess of crunchy bacon chunks, and two tortillas. As is Julio's normal practice none of it - except the tortillas - was really hot. I built a single taco. By the time I got it done, everything was cold. I ate the DIY taco and then proceeded to choke down the rest. Cold eggs, cold bacon, cold beans, cold potatoes. The good thing was, it made the mediocre coffee taste better. This review is for my most recent visit to Julio's during a visit to Del Rio, trying to cure my husband's craving for tacos. We made it in before the lunch crowd, and were taken care of by a helpful, friendly young lady at the counter who answered my husband's questions about the different tacos he was interested in trying. My husband ordered three tacos to go, chicken fajita, guisado and brisket. Each plate came with a side of Julio's Corn Chips and small portion of salsa. The tacos came just as he requested, with the chicken fajita being his favorite. For someone not familiar with guisado, he was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the ground beef and cheese. The brisket taco was a bit underwhelming. The tacos came in flour tortillas in case you're expecting hard shell tacos. This is the place where they make those phenomenal chips sold at Wal-Mart, H-E-B and your other fine retailers..... it's a full fledged restaurant with dining room and a drive thru and all. We were the only ones there. It stated to pick up around 9. There were also several call in orders while we were there. Walk in and order at the counter. Then sit at a table of your choice. The server said the tacos were big, so I ordered one...it's easy to order another if I needed more! Call me lame, but I ordered bean and cheese add jalapeños. It was delish!! M ordered two tacos: opas smoked sausage & salsa and the barbacoa. He said one would have been enough for him. (We have been better about our portions and haven't been eating as much soooo.....) Our plates came with Julio's Chips. The server also brought us some chips and salsa before our meal came out. She was really nice and welcoming. I asked about the chips and she explained what all could be purchased and the differences. We explained we weren't from around here. She offered to let us taste some of the other chips and salsas not sold in stores. I also confirmed in the conversation that the chips were being made right there in that building. SO COOL!!! (You can also see the trucks getting loaded up for distribution in the back.) While we were there I observed different happenings. If you want coffee they have a few coffee mugs if you don't want a styrofoam cup. That was a nice offering in my opinion. I overheard a possible reservation for later...maybe the evening they get busy (Saturday night?!?). Not a great deal of seating. There is enclosed patio seating but I did not check it out. Realized when left that there's a drive through. (Not what we wanted, but if you are looking for that...now you know!) I liked being able to buy chips, salsa and other Julio's items there as well....especially the items not sold in store like the Freakin Hot Chips. YUM!! Overall it's pretty cool. I have friends from Del Rio, and friends who now live in Del Rio who have told me this place was just 'Meh'. I decided to try for myself since I do enjoy Julio's Chips every once in a blue moon. We were kind of in a hurry and just wanted a sample of what the restaurant had to offer. First of all we had great difficulty trying to find the place. Highway 90 EAST going toward Laughlin AFB and NOT toward the lake. Ok, so apparently part of the family was having lunch there because all these Mexicans kept coming in and they all knew each other and all the workers. A good portion of them ordered hamburgers wtf! Lol! That is the first sign (if you're at a mex/tex-mex place and brown people are ordering burgers) to gtfo as quickly as you can. We had the super pericos w/beef fajita meat. Small, quaint, and family-owned, Julio's offers a very good menu and any option is stellar. However, Julio's is known for their signature corn chips - the finest I've ever tasted! We love Julio's Tortilla Chips, so when we heard they had a restaurant we knew we had to go. It didn't disappoint. Traditional Tex-Mex but with Julio's seasoning and chips. My favorite was the crunchy taco. It's shell was covered in the Julio's seasoning like it was a big Julio's chip. Same thing with the chalupa. The enchiladas was the least favorite thing I got. But that might have been because they couldn't find a way to use a Julio's chip in making it. The drink choices are a little lacking. The chips and salsa where terrific I had a chorizo and egg taco which was heavenly and I also ordered an egg and potato taco which is the only reason for 4 stars and not 5 the chorizo and egg was loaded down the potatoes and egg was not also it was bland no seasoning at all even adding the habanero sause it was hard to finish.
