Parents! READ THIS POST! (Please)…read more As my daughter has been growing up, I have always had the slight "fear" that she needs to be in a, not good, but GREAT school. I do believe that Elementary schools do shape who they will become. This is when their minds are still wanting to absorb information and this is when they are still free-spirited. When I was looking into moving, I was trying very had to find a school nearby. My moving was dedicated to a great school district. I came across an apartment complex and found out about this school in their district. Of course, I did my research on the school before I settled on my lease. After reading about studies and reviews on this school, I gave it a chance. Boy, I could NOT be any HAPPIER. She is enrolled in Kindergarten and the transition mid-year for her was GREAT. When I had toured the school and expressed my concerned that she was transferring schools mid-year, they did take everything into account. When she attended her first week, she LOVED it. Her teacher is VERY attentive to all of her students as well as the parents (this is usually not likely). I was able to contact her teacher with any concern(s) I had via email or phone and she was VERY prompt in her response(s). Each child in the classroom was so well-rounded, as in they were go kind to each other. You were able to tell that they were well disciplined at school in order to come home and implement the same mind-set taught to them. The office staff there in the administration part was not too friendly. When I came in, I get it that I was there at 7am when they opened, but that doesn't excuse their behavior towards me. I had the reaction of "oh goodness" from the staff. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was really early. When I came in for several other visits, they did treat me with more respect, acknowledging that they had remembered me (*phew). Now that I have gained my "want" in the office, I realized that the school truly does care. This post could be because I'm still a Noobie to the whole parenting idea, and having my child involved in schools, but this school is truly GREAT. I'm a young mom, and I see the potential in this school to mold my daughter to be a great person.

The bully, a 5th grader moving to 6th grade, was asked to write an apology -- and all he wrote was: "I'm sorry." The school then claimed this was "sufficient" because "he doesn't have the writing capabilities" to say more. Let me get this straight: You're telling us that a student in fifth grade, who can't even write a basic apology, is being allowed to pass to the next grade level -- instead of getting the intervention he clearly needs? So not only is Central Road failing victims of bullying, it's neglecting the educational needs of the aggressors too. That's two layers of failure. Meanwhile, my cousin -- the victim -- has had to be placed in a full-time, outpatient mental health treatment program, five days a week, because this school refused to protect him. The emotional and financial toll on his family has been immense. If you're a parent, and you care even slightly about your child's emotional safety, academic growth, or mental health -- avoid this school. The administration will ignore warning signs, excuse inadequate behavior, and sweep serious issues under the rug to maintain the illusion that "everything is fine." Nothing is fine. And the longer you leave your kid here, the more damage they might endure.

I have had two students go through the preschool program at St. Peter's and it is truly the best of…read morethe best! For the 2 year old students they even have a special outdoor play area with smaller slides and toys for that age group that both of my daughters have enjoyed! Their outdoor space and playground for the prek3 and older students is fantastic too (lots of swings and slides!) and I always felt my kids were getting such a great mix of education as well as fun outdoor time at school. Utilizing sensory bins, painting, motor room, etc. my kids have enjoyed so many fun and educational activities at this school. We have had excellent teachers for the past 4 years we have been here! Even with a child with food allergies I felt very supported by the staff including her in snacks/activities and checking in with me occasionally when needed to make sure she could be included. Even more recently St. Peter has allowed students to bring their own snacks in to accommodate the many food allergies children have nowadays. Ms. Cummins by far has been the best teacher we have ever had. She updates parents daily through the school's app (which not all teachers do!) and I always feel that I know what my child is doing at school by her fantastic communication. Anytime I have questions about something and email her she gets back to me immediately. My family has been so lucky to have her for 2 of our children. She is the most passionate, knowledgeable and caring teacher. Both of my children have learned SO much and grown by being in her class, I will forever be grateful! I would highly recommend this school to anyone in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs of Chicago area.

Both my boys had the same 2's teacher since that's how St. Peter does it. We have been so happy and blessed and honestly this teacher is as wonderful as they come. An absolute blessing. I was actually surprised to see another review as we had the exact opposite with that teacher. Mrs. Cummins is honestly a blessing and one of the most amazing teachers. She is the reason we never considered any other option for our second child. She has embraced all the difficulties he has had in this being his first exposure to school. She is openly communicative with all the parents and kids and I can speak for the other moms in the class as well we feel we hit the jackpot with her. When any issues arise she discusses them and works with us to find a solution that best fits our child, us and finally her. Our older son has Mrs. Grissom this year and he is thriving because of her. She treats the kids with kindness, love, and teaches them confidence. My older son was always more nervous in the school settings but she has really helped him blossom. Not only are the preschool teachers amazing but the staff is so incredibly kind and loving. They know your kids by name and ask how everyone is doing. Feeling this level of care has kept us at St. Peter. You can choose anywhere for your child to go but St. Peter has always been accommodating and caring.

I had always heard wonderful things about it from other moms in the community. We are now about to complete our first year over there and I honestly could not be happier with my choice. My daughter has grown so much, and has been so cared for along the way. There are so many hands-on learning stations for the kids to learn and explore. During the year, they've been able to learn through kinetic sand, water table, large and small motor activities, reading, writing, games, and so much more. They had a firefighter visit to teach them about fire safety, a librarian visit their school to foster their appreciation for books and reading, and they also learned about caterpillars turning into butterflies by witnessing it firsthand. I feel a school is only as good as its teachers and staff, and the teachers at Village are true gems - so warm, nurturing, and knowledgeable. They all have been at the school for many years, and they make learning so fun and age appropriate. The director of the school is also superb; a very organized woman whose door is always open and is willing to answer any questions I've had throughout the year. She does a wonderful job communicating with parents through newsletters and notes about upcoming events at the school. We are always greeted with smiles by the whole staff. You can tell they all want to be there and love what they do, not just one day but everyday. There is also a great weekly music class that the kids attend, and there are 2 music performances that the kids put on for their families. This is a great way for the kids to become comfortable in front of large groups. I highly recommend Village Preschool to everyone I meet since we've had such a positive experience there. You know it's a special place when my younger one who is 18 months never wants to leave when we drop off her older sister at school!
