I had the traditional Thai massage and my husband had the Aromatherapy oil massage. We were in the same room on side by side massage mats, but I was so taken over by my massage, I forgot he was laying on the mat next to me. After traveling a bit, my hips and legs and shoulders and neck were as wound up as they could get. The style of traditional Thai massage is vigorous and intense and done while clothed lying on the mat. The masseuse uses her elbows, knees, hands and feet to really loosen up the muscles. You also get twisted and turned to help with range of motion. Just what I needed to get out all of the knots and stiffness. My massage was exactly what I wanted. If you've got tight hips and legs, there's no better type of treatment for them. If you're looking for a more relaxing massage instead, I'd go for the oil massage. The massage can be catered to how you like it. If you want firmer or softer pressure, you can let your masseuse know. They also had loose pants and a t-shirt I could wear for the thai massage, which made it nice as I didn't have to worry about wearing the loose clothing to the appointment. Highly recommended. When I am back in Glasgow, I'll definitely return for another massage.

Just like Lucy B, I first heard about the Beauty Boutique at a Yelp event - Belles in the Basement…read more I booked in for a back, neck and shoulder massage at the event, for a few weeks later on a Saturday. I really like how the Beauty Boutique communicates, they sent me a reminder a few days earlier with everything I needed to know (which is not much, of course, but still a nice feeling to know I was not forgotten). Upon arrival, I had to fill in a short questionnaire about any problems that I may have and then I got the massage from Lynsay, who really did everything that could be done to my back, bringing me back to a normal life in just half an hour. I was so happy with the results that three weeks later I made an appointment for the same massage and a Dermalogica express facial. This is the visit that turned my opinion into a real five star rating. I mentioned in a review earlier that I am allergic to some cosmetic ingredients, but had yet to learn new details about my skin condition. Not only did Lynsay tell me what other specific items to be careful with (which is really such a big help for me after years and years of self patch testing and a hit-and-miss sort of sample hunt), but also she checked each and every product one by one to see whether she can use them on me or not. As soon as I can see what my future schedule looks like, I will book my next appointment!

Two words - amazing eyelashes!…read more I'm not usually one for beauty treatments and such, but I was tempted to try Beauty Boutique and Day Spa when I met them at the Malmaison Belles in the Basement event. The ladies there seemed so friendly and down to earth, and I was offered a discount due to being at the event, so I booked in for eyelash extensions. I am so happy with the result! I'd never had extensions before so wasn't sure what to expect. The therapist, Emma, asked me what sort of look I would like, as she can vary lengths etc depending on what you're after, and while I LOVE the full bhoona big lashes look, I felt that something more subtle would be most appropriate for now. The result is a really natural and polished look. No more gunky mascara! I'm really pleased that this will cut down my morning routine, while still adding a fluttery finishing touch to my face. Emma is so nice, and I felt really comfortable in the salon. It's a lovely place, tucked into a Bath St basement, but it's like a tardis - there's a lot packed in down there. There's the main part of the salon, where eyelashes and nails are done, which is quite nice actually because if there's a few of you, you'd easily be able to chat. Then there's the private rooms, where you can have a comprehensive range of treatments from massage, waxing, and all sort of serious sounding facials. Then there's also the spa area! There is a big jacuzzi, some day beds, and a relaxation lounge. It's ideal for couples or groups who'd like to have some treatments, as well as a relaxing soak and lounge-about afterwards. Apparently they do hen-dos and parties and so on. I was really pleased to be shown about, and the whole place seems lovely. I also really liked the service generally - it seems very efficient. There's an option to book on-line, but however you book, you'll get an email reminder, which is handy, and also a thank you note after you've left - how nice! In terms of price, I think Beauty Boutique and Day Spa are offering a good deal. At time of writing, eyelash extensions are normally £70 with Emma, which sounds like a lot, but compared to other places, that's really quite good. I checked another nearby popular lash place before booking, and they charge £100 for extensions with a 'Master Technician' and then you have to pay £50 for top-ups! That's ridiculous! I think that is really just taking advantage of regular customers who maybe don't want to try anywhere else. With Beauty Boutique and Day Spa, you also get a FREE top-up after 2 weeks, which is excellent. So the way I'm thinking, it's really like £35 per time for the first 2 visits, which is a good price. I'll be interested to see how long my lashes last. I've been given some good advice from Emma about how to look after them, and have already booked in for my top-up treatment. This is one beauty treatment that I could really get used to!

The only, very small, letdown was that the Crystal Steam Room was out of order. My mum also booked is for a massage afterwards, as recommended by the staff. From start to finish the experience was wonderful, the staff friendly and professional, and, with the exception of one very loud patron who's volume control was our of order, very relaxing. After our massage we were lead to the Drift Away room, complete with tea, loungers and beds! Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that our tummies were growling we could have stayed there all day! Also or would have been nice to have our complimentary Prosecco there, whilst lounging in our robes, rather than having to get ready and have it in the reception area afterwards.

But the last few times I've been have been a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Sometimes the underwater jets wouldn't work, then it would be the massage jets were off or on one occasion the steam-room wasn't working. There wasn't a single day I was there in a six week period that there wasn't at least one major piece of the Thermal experience which wasn't working. Then there is the small things. The keypad locks on the lockers have never worked right and once I even had to ring reception and ask them to send someone down as it had locked away my clothes and refused to open. Not a very relaxing experience as you stand dripping in your towel. And on my last visit the one and only hair-dryer in the men's dressing room was broken. Minor issues, but for a place which charges £65 for a single days access to the thermal experience you expect everything to be perfect. Our membership also included access to the gym which I wasn't impressed by. The free weights available are minimal with the heaviest dumbbell being only 10kg. There are a few cardio machines and a few weight machines such as a chest press, again with very low maximum weight (40kg). It is incredibly small, but as you're likely to be the only person in there it probably won't matter. The thermal experience used to be superb, and I really hope it sorts out the issues in the future. But for me it simply isn't worth the (reduced) membership fee anymore.

Ordered a gazebo on 18th Nov well in time for a party on 2nd Dec. Advertised 3-5 working day…read moredelivery. 9 days passed and it's now 27th November and no delivery and no update on the tracking. This company use XDP who are notoriously known for losing or damaging parcels (if I'd known this at the time or ordering I would not have ordered with this company), just take a look at XDP's reviews. Why any business still uses this courier, they are shockingly bad. Contacted customer service, firstly there is no contact number to speak to anyone, only enquiries by email and then they take forever to reply, so no way of getting in touch urgently. Sent an email on 27th Nov at 11:09am, explained the situation and that I need the item delivered by Friday that week (3 days time) and need this resolved quickly. I receive a generic auto response from a Miss Dayle Jones over 24 hours later the next day at 3:09pm stating they've received my enquiry. I respond stating I need this dealt with quickly, and if I am not going to receive the item by Friday then I need my order cancelled and refunded immediately. I also state my concerns regarding XDP that they are a notoriously poor courier and that I have no faith that the parcel will arrive at all. It then takes another day before I receive a response from Dayle. 2 days already wasted. Even though I had explained that I need the item by Friday and that if that can't be sorted I need a refund, and that I don't trust XDP, brain dead Dayle just states the obvious that the tracking of the parcel hasn't updated and is lost, and asks if I'd like a replacement sent which would be delivered in 5 working days with the same courier! Well 5 working days isn't going to get it to me by Friday is it dippy Dayle? Since it's now Wednesday 29th after you've taken 2 days to even response, and I need the item by Friday 1st in 2 days time. I respond to the email stating the obvious, that sending it on a 5 working day service is not going to get it to me on the day I need it by as already stated in the previous emails. I state that unless they can compensate for the delay by sending it via a next day service using a different courier to get it to me on time, I request yet again a immediate refund and cancellation of my order. Another day passes and I receive no response. I send a chaser email on Thursday 30th. And another day passes and still no response. SO now on Friday 1st December I end up contacting my credit card provider and initiate a section 75 chargeback to get my money back (Amex had my funds back in my account in no time at all). Another email sent to dippy Dayle stating I've still not received a response and a section 75 chargeback has been processed, and state that negative feedback will be left. Another 3 days pass before dippy Dayle responds on 4th December stating "The refund has now been processed, the funds will return to your account in the next few days. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter". The funds are already in my account you clown thanks to the section 75 chargeback as stated in the previous email. No apology, no acknowledgement of the diabolically useless brain dead service and no acknowledgement that I stated I'd be leaving negative reviews. Stating "thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter" just takes the p1ss. Miss Dayle Jones, you are either exceptionally thick or you have a don't give a dam attitude, either way you are utterly useless. Ordered elsewhere cheaper and with next day delivery included free. Was with me by early next morning on the Friday in time for when it was needed. First time I'd ever heard of TJ Hughes, rubbish service, definitely avoid this lot.

They said it was a technical error and would refuse to refund me the extra £3. On their actual website the price for the dinner plates are £18 and £21.99 was crossed out. I got my delivery however plates were smashed. I showed them proof of this however they said they refunded me, so I checked my PayPal account no refund made. I questioned them and showed them proof of my PayPal account via screenshot which showed NO refund. When I challenged them to show me proof of refund to my PayPal they decided to block me on eBay. This shows you how immature, childish and pathetic this company is. So overall because I asked to see proof of refund they blocked me. I would AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Mainly because I always do something drastic with my hair, or have a lovely massage. This being my favourite salon because it's an Aveda Salon, I try to come in here as much as possible. The amazing thing about this place are their Last minute deals on their website. I managed to scoop up a cut and style and a manicure both at discounted prices, both perfectly last minute before new years eve! I started my day of beauty with a shellac manicure. Typically, I go to these wham bam thank you ma'am kind of nail salons that are looking for a quick turnover. I was in shock when i was led down to the massage area of the salon and was given a manicure in one of the massage rooms. It was so peaceful and relaxing and the nail technician was friendly to boot. It's a rare occasion that any nail technician is chatty, let alone honestly seems like she cares about what you're saying. It was a nice touch. Next, she did my eyebrows, which were in desperate need of a good shaping. Again, another relaxing experience, everything was sanitary and clean, unlike other places in Glasgow that I've been to before. After I had my nails and brows done, i was led back upstairs to meet Jade, the stylist who did my hair. I always go in to Aveda when I want a change, and this time was no different. I was taken by an assistant who offered a complimentary head massage while I waited for Jade. Usually, I can take those or leave them, but I'm glad I took her up on the offer. With just enough pressure, she massaged my head and it was like heaven. I was just getting over a chest cold that was holding on for dear life, so it felt really nice to be pampered for a bit. She then took me over to wash my hair, which is always a treat, because Aveda products are by far my favourite and I always love using them. After that, the magic happened. My hair was just about past my shoulders and I decided to get an inverted bob. This style suits my face shape and it really brightens up my features. Jade is an amazing stylist, who is chatty and very confident when she's cutting hair. In between the cut and the styling, she blow dried part of my hair dry to get a better feel for how to cut it. While that was happening, the assistant offered me a hot bevvy, which I chose Hot Chocolate. She also gave me a complimentary hand massage. I was on cloud nine by the time I walked out of there. Of course I loved the end result and so did my guy, who I met for drinks after. It really was an amazing experience as always and I would highly recommend Jade as your stylist and James Dun's House as your salon!

One of their main selling points is the fact that they use Aveda - a totally organic and natural hair product. It smells amazing. If I could eat my hair, I would. When they cut your hair they offer free scalp and hand massages and a free make-up touch-up, so when I leave the salon I feel amazing. This Glasgow branch is very nice, very trendy and modern, but it's very much in the shadows of the Aberdeen branch and so has higher prices to boot. Although it is a lovely salon and the staff are brilliant, the prices are a bit steep. The Aberdeen branch is brilliant, however!!

I finally booked in for one online after seeing Elizabeth tweeting. I like people who are good at social media, and this (and her user friendly, helpful website) were the reason I chose her. I actually forgot to check where she was based until the morning. I knew it was the city centre but hadn't checked where! Thankfully she is right near Buchanan Street underground/Queen Street station so it was super easy to get to. It's easy to find too, it's right near the Carlton George and has good signage. Entering the Glasgow Treatment Rooms, you get the smell of a massage place - I think they must all use the same candles! You press the buzzer for the person you're seeing and take a seat. She popped out pretty quickly to say hello, and gave me a sheet to fill out with questions about allergies etc. Not long after I was shown into the massage room. The room was spacious and warm and looked really comfy. Just one massage table in the middle of the room with a couple of seats for your pre-massage chat. She went through a few questions about whether I had any particular pain to address and what my preference was. She was super friendly, helpful and bubbly so I was pretty relaxed. I didn't tell her at the time but I can get quite uncomfortable getting massages if I don't feel happy with the person, meaning I end up being really tense, but thankfully there was none of that here! I got a full body massage, and she focused on my legs (I get a lot of quad tightness from roller derby) as well as my neck and shoulders (hunching while working on the laptop!). It was relaxing and I felt comfortable at all stages, she would explain why she was massaging my glutes (hamstring goes all the way up there) and had good chat, but not too much chat that I couldn't relax! She also managed to unpop (not a medical term) the knot I've had in my shoulder which was an awesome feeling. Afterwards she had a chat about areas of concern - unsurprisingly, my quads and hips from skating. I've also been told this about a physio so I wasn't surprised! I'm planning another visit at the end of the month where she is going to be a bit more heavy handed on me! I felt super relaxed and a lot looser afterwards, and because she used cream rather than oil, I didn't feel greasy all day. For a 1 hour massage it was £40 which I think is great value. Importantly, she does't have card facilities so make sure you have cash.
