I bought the Groupon voucher and went along recently for my eyelash tint, manicure, facial and back massage. £78 normally, I paid £25. I'm a nail biter, so I asked if I could swap the manicure for a hand/nail treatment, but was told I'd have to pay for their "hand rejuvenation" treatment at £18, so I decided to go for that.
Good points: Friendly staff, treatments OK.
Bad points: No question of my skin type before facial. No question of any allergies. Manicure was laughable - quick file and badly applied polish. No cuticle treatment at all (which, by looking at my hands, was clearly required). No real explanation of what was going on - she could have been massaging mayo or ketchup into my hands while I had the face mask on. I have no idea what products were used on me. Room was cold and lighting was too bright to be relaxed... door had mottled glass panel, through to busy reception - didn't feel very comfortable being half naked! The single towel that I was under was tiny too. Walls very thin, could hear chatter from next door and outside traffic - not very relaxing. Music being played was dramatic opera - again not very relaxing. After my treatment I was left to get ready and noticed a disgusting bin left open with used waxing tools in it, someone elses glass of water, and she'd left the wee table a total mess with eyelash tint tubes and brushes everywhere - hardly a place of relaxation, very unsightly. I've been to other (cheaper) spas where the place is spik, span, candlelit, and everything tidied away.
I won't be going back to Julie Ross I'm afraid! It all felt rushed. The girl even said to me it was "groupon after groupon after groupon" at the moment... read more
