The only, very small, letdown was that the Crystal Steam Room was out of order. My mum also booked is for a massage afterwards, as recommended by the staff. From start to finish the experience was wonderful, the staff friendly and professional, and, with the exception of one very loud patron who's volume control was our of order, very relaxing. After our massage we were lead to the Drift Away room, complete with tea, loungers and beds! Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that our tummies were growling we could have stayed there all day! Also or would have been nice to have our complimentary Prosecco there, whilst lounging in our robes, rather than having to get ready and have it in the reception area afterwards.

But the last few times I've been have been a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Sometimes the underwater jets wouldn't work, then it would be the massage jets were off or on one occasion the steam-room wasn't working. There wasn't a single day I was there in a six week period that there wasn't at least one major piece of the Thermal experience which wasn't working. Then there is the small things. The keypad locks on the lockers have never worked right and once I even had to ring reception and ask them to send someone down as it had locked away my clothes and refused to open. Not a very relaxing experience as you stand dripping in your towel. And on my last visit the one and only hair-dryer in the men's dressing room was broken. Minor issues, but for a place which charges £65 for a single days access to the thermal experience you expect everything to be perfect. Our membership also included access to the gym which I wasn't impressed by. The free weights available are minimal with the heaviest dumbbell being only 10kg. There are a few cardio machines and a few weight machines such as a chest press, again with very low maximum weight (40kg). It is incredibly small, but as you're likely to be the only person in there it probably won't matter. The thermal experience used to be superb, and I really hope it sorts out the issues in the future. But for me it simply isn't worth the (reduced) membership fee anymore.

A friendly welcome helped us feel immediately at home and soon our hands were being treated to an exfoliation and moisturising treatment followed by a file and polish all using top quality products. While our nails dried we relaxed and enjoyed an unhurried glass of fizz. Everyone is so friendly and attentive and the surroundings are suitably classy exuding chill- inducing vibes that make you feel special, which is exactly what you want from a spa. The massages are good- rather on the efficient than luxurious side, but they have a good range of approaches, as well as having excellent cosmetic advisers. The best thing about this spa is the ambiance: soft lighting, discreet rooms, a sense of well-being is immediately conjured upon entry. It is usually easy to book for a session on the same day, and the staff are more than willing to give great advice.

I really like how the Beauty Boutique communicates, they sent me a reminder a few days earlier with everything I needed to know (which is not much, of course, but still a nice feeling to know I was not forgotten). Upon arrival, I had to fill in a short questionnaire about any problems that I may have and then I got the massage from Lynsay, who really did everything that could be done to my back, bringing me back to a normal life in just half an hour. I was so happy with the results that three weeks later I made an appointment for the same massage and a Dermalogica express facial. This is the visit that turned my opinion into a real five star rating. I mentioned in a review earlier that I am allergic to some cosmetic ingredients, but had yet to learn new details about my skin condition. Not only did Lynsay tell me what other specific items to be careful with (which is really such a big help for me after years and years of self patch testing and a hit-and-miss sort of sample hunt), but also she checked each and every product one by one to see whether she can use them on me or not. As soon as I can see what my future schedule looks like, I will book my next appointment!

Two words - amazing eyelashes!…read more I'm not usually one for beauty treatments and such, but I was tempted to try Beauty Boutique and Day Spa when I met them at the Malmaison Belles in the Basement event. The ladies there seemed so friendly and down to earth, and I was offered a discount due to being at the event, so I booked in for eyelash extensions. I am so happy with the result! I'd never had extensions before so wasn't sure what to expect. The therapist, Emma, asked me what sort of look I would like, as she can vary lengths etc depending on what you're after, and while I LOVE the full bhoona big lashes look, I felt that something more subtle would be most appropriate for now. The result is a really natural and polished look. No more gunky mascara! I'm really pleased that this will cut down my morning routine, while still adding a fluttery finishing touch to my face. Emma is so nice, and I felt really comfortable in the salon. It's a lovely place, tucked into a Bath St basement, but it's like a tardis - there's a lot packed in down there. There's the main part of the salon, where eyelashes and nails are done, which is quite nice actually because if there's a few of you, you'd easily be able to chat. Then there's the private rooms, where you can have a comprehensive range of treatments from massage, waxing, and all sort of serious sounding facials. Then there's also the spa area! There is a big jacuzzi, some day beds, and a relaxation lounge. It's ideal for couples or groups who'd like to have some treatments, as well as a relaxing soak and lounge-about afterwards. Apparently they do hen-dos and parties and so on. I was really pleased to be shown about, and the whole place seems lovely. I also really liked the service generally - it seems very efficient. There's an option to book on-line, but however you book, you'll get an email reminder, which is handy, and also a thank you note after you've left - how nice! In terms of price, I think Beauty Boutique and Day Spa are offering a good deal. At time of writing, eyelash extensions are normally £70 with Emma, which sounds like a lot, but compared to other places, that's really quite good. I checked another nearby popular lash place before booking, and they charge £100 for extensions with a 'Master Technician' and then you have to pay £50 for top-ups! That's ridiculous! I think that is really just taking advantage of regular customers who maybe don't want to try anywhere else. With Beauty Boutique and Day Spa, you also get a FREE top-up after 2 weeks, which is excellent. So the way I'm thinking, it's really like £35 per time for the first 2 visits, which is a good price. I'll be interested to see how long my lashes last. I've been given some good advice from Emma about how to look after them, and have already booked in for my top-up treatment. This is one beauty treatment that I could really get used to!

But my hair was getting tragic just as my monthly wage was reduced to statutory maternity pay, so I took a gamble on this salon, which had a great price and good reviews. Well, the gamble paid off. The staff were really friendly, with frequent cups of tea or coffee on the go for whomever wanted one. Jennifer, who cut my hair, was personable and more importantly, competent at cutting curly hair. She cleaned up my mane and listened when I asked for more to be taken off the bottom. The only quibbles I have are that Jennifer overbooked herself--she had four women on the go while I was there so my cut and colour took three hours when it really didn't need to. Also, she looked like she had just rolled out of bed after a night of heavy drinking...and it was two in the afternoon. When you go to get a haircut, you want your stylist to look sharp. That being said, she did get the job done but if I hadn't pre-paid for the cut I probably would have turned around and gone home upon seeing her.

The very words had us swooning at the thought of all that girly indulgence. The vouchers were able to be used in selected places across the UK so my friend checked them out and we decided on Distinction Health and Beauty found in the plush Glasgow Marriott hotel. We were each treated to either a back, neck and shoulder massage or an express facial - oh, what a decision! In the end I opted for the massage which was absolutely wonderful. I was slightly nervous beforehand for some reason but immediately felt at ease and I was soon ready to dose off. I never wanted to climb out from under that soft, warm towel placed over my back at the end. One of the girlies picked the facial and praised it very highly - she had been using the wrong type of products for her skin type until this point and so it was revolutionary for her, she said. All in all, the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. With the spa package you also get full use of the Glasgow Marriott leisure facilities so we spent an hour or so afterwards relaxing in the pool and sweating in the sauna. As it was during the week we had these to ourselves for the most part. The log style changing rooms were also so lovely that we deliberately took our time getting ready. I left feeling totally relaxed and spoiled - which is surely the purpose of a spa day - and would definitely go back for further treatments, although I might just wait until someone else pays for it again as it as rather pricey. For pure indulgence and special occasions only but absolute bliss.

I managed to get a date right on time, which was good because it was really what I had wanted to get. We both arived and were shown to the area within the Marriott that does the Health and Beauty, where we were given our options for the day. We both went for the massage, which sadly came to an end. I would have spent hours just lying there being pampered, Bliss! The treatments are quite expensive here and although you think you are getting quite a bit with the a spa day, you are limited on treatments and given permission to use the facilities. I might next time go to a dedicated spa castle looking thing just to add to the relaxation rather than a hotel.

I chose this salon since it's handy for my work, and after having a leaflet handed into our office, the prices seemed very reasonable so I was happy to give it a go. The location is unusual, in that the salon is within a business centre. This is easily overcome; use the buzzer entry system and Laura will meet you and let you into the building. It's a small price to pay for excellent service! Laura is amazing; she is warm, welcoming and knows her trade. I opted for a brow wax and tint and a deluxe shellac manicure. These cost me £9 and £17 respectively, translation: absolute bargain! Especially because I felt pampered and relaxed. Laura took the time to talk me through each procedure and was chatty and likeable, making me feel at ease. I will definitely be back for more treatments!
