I found such a place at the Galloway Inn. Sitting regally on a quiet street near Thomas Square, the Inn stands proudly with its big welcoming porch and quiet hidden garden in the back. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Keith. He gave me some great places to eat on the neighborhood and, because it was unseasonably chilly, left me a pair of gloves and an elegant scarf to use during my stay. Staying in the loft on the 3rd floor was perfect for my needs. There was a little outdoor sitting area that I wasn't expecting - perfect for a sunny lunch - and the bed was very comfortable. Some other reviews negatively comment on the area of Savannah and as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe at night. There are some great restaurants within walking distance - Cotton & Rye, the Vault, Tacos on Bull - and I just avoided walking through Thomas Square. No one bothered me. Reserve without hesitation. If I'm ever back in Savannah, I certainly will return. Thank you Keith and Jim.

It was adorably furnished, with wi-fi and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in while traveling. You will not get accommodations of this caliber in any of the chains downtown--and with free parking, also! The furnishings and towels are of the highest caliber. Being out of the way of downtown allows the traveler to enjoy a more local's experience as there are several walkable restaurants nearby that cater more to the local crowd. As this is a privately owned inn, the owners live on-site and are especially particular. Outside guests are generally not allowed on property-I had to get special permission to invite a friend over one evening. Guests are "never to sleep on the sofas," and you are assigned a particular check-in time. These rules, while understandable, may not work for every traveler. Also, some of the walkways and accommodations are not handicapped accessible. You will want to inquire with the owners if you have any mobility concerns. Staying at the Galloway House Inn will afford you very nice accommodations in a lovely neighborhood at a great price--offset by some particularities that might not work for your situation. I found the owners to be very open about these, so it's best to ask about them before you book. Their cancellation policies are especially rigid compared to other inns in the area. For a certain traveler, Galloway House is a lovely place to stay!

The Marshall House has everything you could want for a trip to Savannah!!…read more You couldn't ask for a better location. The Marshall House is located directly on Broughton St near shopping and restaurants, and it's within walking distance of pretty much everything you will want to see! You will barely need a rental car for your trip. Despite being on the main road, I found the hotel to be pretty quiet! The historic inn is beautifully restored. Each room is unique. If you're lucky enough to get a front-facing room on the second floor, you have access to the shared balcony overlooking the street. My room was cozy and comfortable! There are cozy bathrobes in each room. The Marshall House has some unique amenities. They provide bottled water (both cold and room temperature) by the main desk for hotel guests! So great during the summer heat. They also have a complimentary wine and cheese reception every evening in the Library with entertainment (musicians, lectures, trivia, etc.) so make sure to include that in your trip itinerary! Breakfast is also included with the price of the room. Breakfast is served in the atrium off the library. You are seated by the wonderful staff, and then you check off/circle your order on the menu they provide. Breakfast comes off of a buffet, so it's a little odd not to just help yourself, but service is super quick! The Marshall House is in the running for most haunted hotel in the country, but I didn't have any ghost encounters while I was there unfortunately. It was fun to hear the stories of other guests and to learn more about the history of the hotel! I highly recommend staying at the Marshall House if you're looking for a comfortable stay in the perfect walkable location!

The room was lovely and I especially liked the original wood floors throughout. The folks at the front desk were also wonderful. I asked for extra shampoo and conditioner and they were brought up right away, unlike all other hotels where we have stayed who seem to take hours to fulfill requests like this one. As far as hauntings go, the only thing we experienced was a light knocking within the room, and it was just one time. Haunting or not, we would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Savannah.

The thermostat is not able to go lower than 70. We utilized a ceiling fan and a small table fan and still sweating through the night. When I reached out for help with this I was told to utilize the fans and that she was not able to do anything else. We paid for 3 nights and stayed 1. We ended up staying in a hotel for the remainder of our stay. I reached out to VRBO for assistance and they spoke to the host and requested a refund for the remainder of our stay however it was declined. I was told that 70 was the lowest the ac could be set due to freezing issues however looking back at past reviews here (which I am kicking myself for not doing) there are other complaints of the same where host stated the ac cannot be lower than 70 due to electric bills and that the unit was replaced in March 2025. Confused why it would have freezing issues with a new unit. Would not recommend staying in this no insulated garage. Terrible experience. What a waste of money however enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express! Check reviews on their website as well, again wish I did more research on this "sauna" prior to booking. I would also not book through VRBO any longer due to this awful experience.

We stayed for 3 nights and could have stayed forever. We stayed in the Waldburg apartment which is located in the historic Victorian district. Super awesome neighbors greeted us everyday and there is tons of safe street parking. A local health food store and coffee shop are just blocks away. Forsyth park is basically in your backyard. What more could you want? Oh yeah, the apartment is fully stocked with eco friendly products...shampoo to bug spray. We saved lots of money by stocking up on groceries and cooking up a storm in the nicely equipped kitchen. Everything about our apartment was glorious. From the gigantic bed to the loads of info on local hot spots. And we were even able to watch True Blood on-demand. Heaven?? Extra dreamy and can't wait to book up this place again :)

You're only a short drive from the beach (avoid peak traffic times on the bridge if possible) and close enough in town to walk to nearly anything! For those unfamiliar with Savannah or general street parking, simply know that you need to be aware of street sweeping schedules (posted clearly on signs) and the owner's off-street parking. We return annually for a brief escape and it always exceeds our expectations!

The staff was very accommodating throughout our stay. Being that I lived in Savannah 20 years ago, I have bragged about how incredible Savannah's hospitality is and the staff here definitely showed up. Huge thank you to Joey, Jackie, Cindi, and Darnell or as I refer to them as the dream team for making our stay so incredible. I hope they promote you all into management. Our room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Honestly, one of the best beds I have ever slept on. Perfect if you have jet lag. I love that the toiletries have peppermint so you repeal bugs, which is a must in the south. Great alternative if you forget the bug spray. There's a coffee bar, restaurant, and a speakeasy bar that was Alice and wonderland themed. In the afternoon you are offered champagne, which is such a nice touch. They have bikes available to sightsee rather than walking. This hotel is close to everything in case you want to walk and explore shops, dining, etc. Overall, this hotel is beautifully decorated and charming. Something Savannah is known for. I highly recommend this hotel. Especially because it's pet friendly!
