So happy with the big change haircut from Laura! It was a leap I wanted to take and she expertly guided me with good questions on length, maintenance, bang cut, etc. She also managed to make my 4 month grown out roots look soft and effectively hid my lack of color on top. Magic!! 5 stars for Laura! 3 stars for the salon's lack of cruelty free or vegan products. (I should have asked and failed to) Excited to go back for my next trim. Thank you!

I am writing this review because I am completely and utterly disappointed in the color service I received at this salon on 03/13/20. I wanted to make sure to write this and include pictures, before my hair has a chance to grow out. The first picture ( bottom, right) is the one I showed the stylist, as reference to what I wanted. This picture was shown at the time of my color consultation. Not once was I told that this color could not be achieved on my hair. The rest of the pictures are the outcome of my color service. The next picture (bottom, left) shows that my hair goes from super dark/almost black to light brownish/blonde at the tips. It is not blended at all and looks nothing like what I asked for. The final picture (top) shows that my roots/out growth went untouched. All my greys are still exposed and were never colored. I did mention at the consultation that my greys seem stubborn and grow back quickly, usually within a few weeks (typically about 3),but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have been dyed with the rest of my hair. I have never had a stylist leave my outgrowth untouched. I thought that to dye them was a give-in. It looks like nothing was done to my hair, except I was given blonde tips now. I would rather a salon be upfront and communicate honestly with me. For example say " I cannot complete this look on you," and either direct me to another salon or a stylist that has experience with this color. Even if that means losing business or rescheduling the appointment for a later date. It is not okay for salons to take on jobs they cannot execute and then charge such exorbitant prices for a job so poorly done. The salon was advertising a promotion that offered 50% off a color service for first time customers. I happened to be a candidate for this offer. When I was being checked out they did not automatically discount me I had to ask " is that the total with the promotion?" Maybe that was a small unintentional mistake, but since I was already irked I added it to the list of another reason this business lacks integrity. I will say that the cut turned out well and the stylist was nice enough. But I don't go to salons for nice small talk. I go there for quality service and getting what I paid for. $130 ( that's with the discount) is a lot for a cut and a color that's not even close to what you asked for. Please don't take on job's that cannot be completed correctly. It's not fair and it's not right.

Peeling on the side of the nail 30 minutes after appointment :(

Went in for nails and that might've been my mistake. Just wanted some simple gel French tips. They came out cloudy and patchy and the lines for the French were uneven and blurry. They're okay but they're definitely not worth 53 dollars for them to chip 30 minutes after the appointment. Gave them 2 starts because lady was really sweet and atmosphere is great but don't expect professional nails.

I recently had the pleasure of getting my hair cut and colored at Julia Grace Salon with Kirstin. She was very patient with me and my difficult hair. As women in my mid-forties, the blonde of my youthful past is getting more and more difficult to duplicate and she managed to accomplish it on the first try! She found the "just right" highlight and lowlight combinations! I highly recommend Julia Grace Salon! Friendly people, excellent service with a very comfy rustic-chic vibe! I will definitely be back!

Beautiful wedding hair!!

Walked out hating my hair. Immediately made another appointment to fix it somewhere else.

I get it - one of the most stressful things in the world is going to a new hair stylist. This was…read moremy problem when I moved to Madison about a year ago. I spent the next few months trying several salons that were a little more affordable, but the quality just didn't compare to my experiences at William Jon Salon. I'm particularly picky about my hair, since I love a crazy volume and stylish hairdo that is also fairly low maintenance. Many folks who've worked on my hair always comment on how surprisingly thick my hair (it's full of secrets) and difficult it is to work on, but very few have been able to make it look exactly how I want it to. Enter Katrina, an incredibly attentive and talented woman! I showed her a reference picture of how I wanted my hair, and she spent the next hour making sure it was perfect. That entire time, we talked about random topics like wine, family, and even travel, and I felt as if I was catching up with an old friend. Without fail, I always get a ton of compliments and questions about where I get my hair done whenever Katrina works her magic on my head. Needless to say, I have found my hairstylist for the rest of my life out here in Madison, and think it's definitely worth paying a little bit more and loving every moment of my fabulous hair instead of saving those extra 15 bucks and sighing every time I look in the mirror!

Best available , attention to detail in the art and science of color/highlighting. Reception is ALWAYS kind and helpful. Prices are reasonable , considering the HIGH quality of services. Vibe is relaxed/pleasant. Always positive attitudes and I am happy to go back. Many thanks and much appreciated to all!

Katie at New Concepts saved my LIFE. ...Okay, not my LIFE, but definitely my manicure, the day…read morebefore we were flying out to Las Vegas for our destination wedding. After getting a complete hatchet job of a gel manicure at Studio Z (see other review: seriously, it was a gel manicure that started cracking less than 24 hours after application because the woman who did it had NO IDEA what she was doing), I was calling around town in a panic trying to find someone who could redo my nails that afternoon. I didn't want to try to fit in a ~$150 removal/new manicure at Treasure Island the morning of my wedding, because our schedule was already ridiculous. New Concepts happened to have an opening. As soon as I got there, everyone wanted to see the original job, and confirmed it had been applied wrong--which made it take about twice as long to remove as it should have, but Katie got it off and then did it RIGHT. She explained the whole process to me as she went, which helped me retain confidence that she actually knew what she was doing, and was also interesting for future reference. When she finished up, it looked perfect, and it has now held up beautifully for a week. I even scraped my nails across several rock formations while doing post-wedding shots at the Valley of Fire, and it didn't leave a scratch. Finally, they didn't charge me anything for removing the original job--just $35 for the gel polish (gel with a manicure is $50 at New Concepts, and most places charge separately to remove gels). That was less than I'd paid for the original bad job! I normally like to change my polish color a lot, which you can't do with gel, but Katie was so nice and I'm so impressed with how well gel holds up, I'm seriously considering sticking with it from now on. If I do, I will definitely be going back to Katie!

Don't waste your time or money…read more I visted NCS after reading the glowing review from Cabell G. on Yelp. I got my nails done and my girl was nice. The manicure was a little more expensive than I expected it to be but that was okay at the time. However, less than 12 hours later, my polish started to chip. I called and the receptionist was ditzy and confused as to exactly what I needed done. It was frustrating talking to her, and then when I finally got in to get my nails fixed, the stylist who was formerly friendly was cold and didn't talk to me. She did a good job fixing the chipped manicure, but I was pissed that I had to waste my own time to come back and get something fixed that should have been done right the first time. One of my nails broke four days after the original manicure and even more nails were chipping and awful looking a week later for a manicure that should have lasted at least two weeks. I will never go here again, I feel that it was a waste of money for such poor service and poor product.
