Haircut 5/5 Amber is the absolute best! My hairstylist from Bang Salon cancelled on me last minute and Amber really saved the day. She is a sweetheart and knows how to cut hair, color, and style. I'm extremely satisfied with my service, I showed her a picture of the color I wanted and she was able to match it. I will be back in about 6 weeks for a toner. I got my haircut and styled for about $200.00, the price is right here! Style 5/5 I want to start off by saying that Savanna did my hair and it turned out great, she's very good at listening to what you ask for and matching that. I was satisfied with my style. Make-up 1/5 Savanna is a nice person, however...I do not recommend her to do anyones make-up. To sum it up it nice, she doesn't know how to apply it. I specifically showed her a photo of what I wanted and she wasn't able to deliver. I didn't want anything too crazy, just light eyeshadow and winged eyeliner. She gave me a dark eyeshadow, she had to ask someone to help her apply my eye liner, did not match my eyebrow color correctly (not all ethic people have black eyebrows), and gave me dark colored lips when I asked her for a neutral color. Very dissatisfied with how my make up turned out, sadly I didn't have enough time to fix it before my photo shoot. I will not be going to savanna for make up ever again. read more

FIRST AND LAST TIME!!! Id give zero stars if I could. What a joke of a business! DO NOT go here IF YOU LOVE YOUR HAIR!!! Little did I know the 3 weeks i waited were the last 3 weeks I had with hair. You wont have any after your visit. Esp dont goto maggie or maddie or whatever her name is. A level 8?? 8 out of what, 100?? I should have walked out as soon as I saw her. I wanted a few layers. She didnt listen to me. Just proceeded cutting, chopping, and laughing and had me crying in the chair RUINING MY HAIR like a 5 year old in art class, RIPPING thru my fine curly hair with a fine tooth comb. Choppy layers? What is that? Dont ask her. Anyone with half a brain knows you dont use a comb like that on curly hair.... JUST CHOPPING AWAY CLEARLY KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT CURLY FINE HAIR. ZERO SKILLS. Left me with barely any hair and its HORRIBLE!!!! like STRINGS of hair... I cant even wear it down its so bad, its been over a month and its still AWFUL!!! Like a confused hipster mullet... it makes me so sad. I have to put my 5 strands of hair up to try and make it look SOMEWHAT decent and cover with a bandana. Maybe one day soon it will grow back, but man.... no compassion, no patience, just money hungry and on to the next. Hard to find morals or values nowadays muchless comprehension or actual skills. I tried Lotus Salon for the first time and I am SO glad I did! The atmosphere was open and welcoming and I was enormously lucky to have Kaylee as my stylist. Kaylee was so lovely and friendly AND she gave me the best haircut I have had in many years. She also called a few days later to make sure I was satisfied. I went on a rainy and windy vacation after that and no matter how much weather abuse my hair took, it fell back into place perfectly with just a comb, every time. I thought of Kaylee so many times during those weeks and was so grateful for her skill. Without that great cut, I would certainly have frightened the locals with crazy witch hair. Horrible!! My 16 year daughter went in for consult and they took samples to see what color worked better. We discussed what she wanted, what would work and what could be done. Had her real appointment and she came home with her hair blotchy, orange, striped, etc. She went in with the brown hair color you can see in parts of the pictures. She wanted some blond highlights and for it to have a natural look. This was the owner of the salon that did this. I just can't believe it. I called and had her go back later in afternoon. Owner was busy so she saw another lady. She informed me that she couldn't really fix it and tone it much and it most likely would not work AND that I would need to be charged for it to be corrected because it wasn't in initial appointment. I mean what??? I paid 313.00 for this. Ridiculous. I had her leave and we have another appointment at a higher level salon to get it fixed. Why would I pay them more money!!! They weren't willing to fix and correct their mistake without charging me. I emailed the owner asking to refund a bit and included pics and still have not heard back. She knew I was displeased and still has not reached out to me to discuss this. Very very unprofessional. I would never recommend Lotus and never go there again. My daughter said the owner and second stylist were giving her dirty looks, etc. when she went back. I mean come on.. she is a child. I cannot believe they let her walk out of the salon like this. Charges are high and deceiving. if you use website beware. color highlight cut and style doesnt mean they color your hair or roots. color refers to a partial highlight for $120, then $44 for color root touch up but when they do root touch up they dont have enough color to do your whole head. that is additional $15 fee. and if you buy any product the sticker on the product doesnt mean that is the price. check your receipt closely. dont pay for style, it was a blow dry, only. no curl or straightening. they also have another client sitting with color waiting, double clients at once. not a salon experience, but exclusive salon prices. beware. only referring to sun prairie location. heard much better comments about stoughton. read more

I've been to this salon a few times, and the last time I left in tears. I absolutely hated my cut. I basically wanted a trim, clean up but what I got instead was nothing like that. Each time I made an appointment I was paired with a new stylist, since my previous one must not have been working their any longer? I also took my daughter to this salon for her first "salon" experience. She is 6 years old and had very long hair. She wanted to have a drastic change to her look and wanted it cut short. They have a wall for before/after photos but never took before photos of my daughters hair. Thankfully I took before photos at home. My daughter wanted a short bob cut. She ended up with a cut had no shape. After she got her hair chopped off, they again didn't take photos either. I decided to have her model in front of the photo wall and took my own pictures. The stylist must have been new, she didn't know how to turn the light on in that area and asked me to email/send her the photos I took off my phone.... For the service we received I should have saved the money and took her to cost cutters in town. read more

I had a very pleasant experience on my first visit to Lotus in Stoughton. I found the salon through a Google search, where it received very high reviews. I was able to get in the same day so I was happy. I went in expecting to get my undercut shaved and a trim to the rest of my hair. My stylist, Krystal, was full of suggestions and tips and I ended up getting a couple inches chopped off and some layers. She was very helpful and helped me walk out with a better look than I would have asked for myself. I am in no way picky about my hair. I like to leave my stylist with a lot of power since they're the professional and they know what will work. As long as looks good, I don't really care if it matches exactly what I had originally pictured. Giving Krystal the freedom to do what she thought was best turned out great, and I will definitely be back. read more

Location: Sun Prairie Stylist: Sara Anderson I decided to try this salon that opened across the street from my apartment complex. I requested a consultation to discuss transitioning my (dark to blonde) ombre into a less brassy/yellow, subtle and more natural fall look. I also needed a trim and agreed to get a deep conditioning treatment. My initial appointment was pleasant. Although, I'm the type of client that appreciates the opportunity to relax while getting my hair done, especially during down time in the appointment. I expected some sort of sales pitch of products and/or tools but not throughout the entire appointment. In addition, my hair was not nearly as toned down as I wanted and the ombre was not as "broken up" as I requested. I was content with the cut but I didn't notice a difference from the conditioning treatment. Within a week, I reached out to Mandy (owner/manager?) to discuss the discrepancy and request a correction. She was mostly polite and said she would have Sara contact me to set up an appointment. Sara sent me a short, snippy email in which she never offered an apology. I felt that she may be taking the criticism personally but I reluctantly made an appointment because I disliked my hair. When I walked in for my correction appointment I was greeted by Sara snapping about a product I was returning (I don't use detergents in my dryness prone hair and it contained a detergent). Luckily, the receptionist greeted me with a hello. I showed Sara the same inspiration picture that I showed the first time and asked for a specific swatch of blonde to be left because I liked the tone. Unfortunately I could only tell the general color of my hair when I left because it was still 75% wet. After I dried and styled it, I noticed it was much darker than I wanted and 90% of the blonde was gone including the swatch I asked be left. I remain frustrated with the customer service. It's for that reason, I have not contacted the salon about the dissatisfaction with my hair color. I'm not confident they would or could help. read more

It's a great place if you only care about your hair. If you care about how people are treated (employees) find a different salon. I have witnessed how nasty the owners are first hand and it's not worth a nice haircut to support this business and their practices. Came here in the summer. This place didn't have many stars but I had a personal recommendation for this place, so I thought I'd try them out. Everyone seemed so friendly and like they wanted to make sure they worked together to get the unusual shade I wanted! However, it was not the case. The hair color I received was so much darker than the photos I had supplied for desired color and far off from what I believed we had discussed during a very nice consultation. I was going for mermaid hair in a light aquamarine shade. Instead, my hair was dyed royal blue/the color of Grover from sesame street. In good faith and instead of making an immediate fuss I tried to give it a few days washing, having been told it would fade a lot. After a weekend of multiple washes it was still Grover-ish, and not at all what I asked for. After days of sending emails and a couple long phone calls to them trying to figure out how to get my hair to point that I was happy I was told it was not possible to change my color. Not possible after they dyed it a color I had not asked for. Lotus would not give even a partial refund for this very expensive disappointment though it says "services guaranteed" which was a factor in me going there in the first place. Well, they aren't guaranteed and the color never did fade to aquamarine. Kind people, bad services. read more

I have a wonderful hair stylist, but over the years I have noticed some changes at the salon. My biggest complaint is that the salon often double books clients, which they used to not do. Often times while my hair is processing, my stylist is scheduled for another cut or some other service. I can, honestly, say I have not seen this done at other salons or at least to the degree that it is done at Lotus. This can makes a client feel as if "it is all about the money" over customer service. I cannot say enough good things about my stylist, how good she is, and some of the different techniques and/or services offered at the salon. The salon really had a good thing going, but this has been compromised over time in order to maximize profits, expand, and get the most work out of their stylists. read more

I get my hair done every 6-8 weeks and I've done brown, red, and blonde, all over and highlights, and have even had a perm, and I love my hair every time! The salon itself is nice and they always offer you a beverage and have a ton of magazines to read while your hair is processing. My mother got her hair done at lotus many times before this but she will never be going back. 5 weeks after a coloring her hair started turning purple. When she called the salon, Sam asked her many questions that were insensitive to the situation and she didn't seem to be concerned about it. They couldn't get her in to fix it and she eventually ended up going to a different salon....sometimes it's not if you make a mistake but how you handle it when you do. Lotus obviously needs to take some time to make sure their customers are happy even when they make a mistake. read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for Lotus Salon so I got a mani/pedi. The girl that did my mani/pedi was nice. The salon itself was just ok. The pedi chairs are standard massage chairs. My manicure was nice. My pedicure definately could have been better. My issue was the polish. By the next morning my polish was chipping on my hands and by the second day my polish was chipping on my toes. I get mani/pedi's at least once a month at another salon and have never experienced polish chipping so fast. I did purchase a bottle of the color because I really liked it. The polish I purchased didn't chip nearly as quick. Makes me think they thin out the polish at the salon. Overall, I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend it to friends. The price without the Groupon was expensive for a generic mani/pedi in a small suburb that's a drive from Madison. read more

This salon is GREAT especially for a small town like Stoughton! I find that they stay "up" on the most current styles and trends. I never feel like I'm "stuck" in my same old style and if I want something new they are very willing to accommodate. Wow, I just received a personal letter from the owner and a gift card so I can give them another try! I must admit, I'm impressed. I Yelp a lot, and I have never gotten that kind of response after leaving an honest review (I've more frequently gotten threats of lawsuits, not apologies!). I am extremely disappointed by the way that Lotus conducts business. I had hair and makeup done there as part of a bridal party. I left with make up that was streaky, uneven, and simply missing in some places. I went home and washed all of it off and did it myself because it was the worst make up job I've had done. Attempts to communicate with my stylist were not helpful because she admitted that she didn't know how to fix my hair and that left me with little hope for my make up. My stylist asked me several times how I would like her to fix my hair after we both recognized that it was a mess. I told her that I honestly didn't know how to make it better, and we had to ask my sister what to do. I left feeling bad about myself because of comments she made, which is definitely not how I hoped to leave before going to take pictures. I did not discuss my finished look with my stylist because having her fix it was neither feasible for the time schedule, nor something that I wanted to do when I was feeling very emotional about how the appointment had gone. After my appointment and after the wedding I contacted the salon about my frustrations and the owner refunded part of my bill but this required several emails back and forth, along with her requesting photos of the work to show how bad it was. I will not return to Lotus and I would highly discourage bridal parties and customers to look for a salon that actually knows how to do makeup and hair. read more
