TK was so friendly and genuine, and really listened to what I was asking for. I admit I did a horrendous job explaining what I wanted but he looked at the pictures I had of what I liked and seemed to know exactly what I wanted and he gave me a beautiful new haircut that I am absolutely in love with!! I also very much appreciated that I was able to make an appointment online, for the very same day. Usually I have to wait several days, if not a week, to schedule an appointment with my usual hairdresser. I'm feeling very conflicted now because I've been going to the same hairdresser for several years, but I enjoyed my first experience at Duncan Edward with TK so much that it's going to be hard not to go back!

I have been going to Duncan Edwards on and off for years and have been satisfied with the results…read moreuntil my last visit. I scheduled a full head of highlights and half way through Aaron told me he was only doing a partial. I trusted his "expert" advice and went with it. When he finished the partial he showed me the front and it did not look too bad. However he did not take the time to show me the back. When I got home I checked the back in the mirror and it looks terrible LOL! No wonder he didn't show me the back!!! The front of my head is highlighted and the back is brown!!! I'm now an official freak! I'm going back to have it "fixed" and I will update the review afterwards. Fingers crossed :P I do not recommend it to anyone, unless you want to be a freak like me. Cheers! So I went back at 10:45am which was agreed upon verbally with Aaron. However, when I went back they told me that it was 12:45pm. I was fine with it, but when I asked to be given a card to have proof of the the time the front desk attendant told me she couldn't. So I insisted since I did not want to have to deal with the time being "wrong" again and eventually she prints the appointment details out. So I leave and come back at the updated time and Aaron and I start to argue about my hair. Basically he would not apologize and admit that he jacked up my hair. So he says it's best if I leave and get a refund. Which is fine by me. But then right before I leave he says that I was rude to the front desk attendant and calls me disgusting. Wow! I did't say anything rude to the front desk attendant I just insisted on receiving a card for the appointment so I would NOT have to keep coming back at the "wrong" time. No idea what he was talking about. But he is disgusting and this business is abusive. I would't recommend Duncan Edward European Hair Design to my greatest enemy.

A regular hair cut for women is just $21 as opposed to $40 plus at most of the other salons in the area. After talking with the woman who did my hair, it seems that this is probably because they only do cuts, washes, and drying, with one hairdresser on staff who also does color. There is not the styling element at this place. The woman who cut my hair was super friendly and when I asked how she thought different styles would look on me she asked me to think about how the style would work in my daily life. Great way to practically decide. The place clearly has a family feel which was very appreciated, and most of the staff are very experienced. I heard some have been in the business for 17, 20, and 30 years. I have a feeling this is going to be my go to place if I need a haircut in Madison.
