I started seeing Lukas earlier this year and I'm SUPER happy with his work for my last two appointments. Lukas not only got me to the color I was looking for, but he did it in such a way that made it much easier to maintain. Before I saw Lukas I had to come in much more frequently to clean up my roots. But after Lukas' color, it's grown out much more naturally than before. So he's saving me time and money!! I used to be the type of girl who jumped around from salon to salon because I never liked my haircut. Well, when I moved to Madison last summer, I tried out Bang Salon and I have not gone to any other salon since! Jennifer is awesome with my hair. She's always very receptive to what I am looking for in a haircut. She's cut my super long hair and then also cut my hair to shoulder length back in November. Most recently, I got a balayage done by Jennifer. I've had balayage done twice before, but my current balayage is by far the best and favorite that I've had. Rates here are very reasonable! Bless you, online scheduling. This summer I needed a last-minute haircut and remembered seeing several good reviews for Bang. I moseyed on over to their website and was able to see that they had an open appointment with Lyndsy for the next day, so I sent a mental apology to my always-booked stylist and decided to cheat with a new salon. The shop can be a little hard to find the first time (follow the scissors on the sidewalk and then turn left once you get in the door), but I was pleased to find a nice, bright, modern space. I was welcomed and taken back to a chair to discuss my hair. Lyndsy did a great job of listening to what I wanted, what I absolutely didn't want, and getting a background of my grooming habits and skills. I walked out with a wonderful haircut that suited me and that looked the same the next day to weeks later. It wasn't just a trim either - it was a transformation from having almost waist-length hair to a cut that came just above my shoulders. The online scheduler saved me again when my short cut (something I haven't had in probably a decade) felt like a bushy mess seemingly overnight. It still looked great due to the excellent cut, but it was long enough to flip out at the ends and feel like it was poofing out. I was once again able to get a next-day cut before heading out for vacation. Prices are very affordable for a modern salon and they've got the most aesthetically pleasing product line I've ever seen. I love the scent of the products that have been used on my hair, and the UV protection spray I got spritzed with on my last visit somehow kept my hair from becoming its usual greasy mess by the next morning. Magic! They sell several "try me" sizes, so I'll have to see if they have that to explore if it was a fluke or the product I've needed all my life. Long story short, I'm not ready to break up with my longtime stylist, but it's good to have another hair wizard I can trust, especially with the increased maintenance a short cut requires. read more

Let me start by saying I have extremely thick, curly hair. Almost every time I go to a salon no one really wants to deal with my curls and it's usually straightened and cut like that. Knowing that's what most people do to my hair, I came to Bang Salon with my hair already straightened and ready to be cut. When I met Nicole she was actually really disappointed that she couldn't work with my curls. This was completely new to me and I had never had someone ask to actually work with my curls. So I let Nicole shampoo my hair and cut my curls and to my amazement, my curls looked amazing! Not only did she know exactly how to work with my curls, she taught me how to work with them and make them look nice all day long(something no one had managed to do in 22 years!) Nicole introduced me to products that keep my hair healthy and my curls looking amazing, and believe me, I've tried them all! The Kevin Murphy products work wonders on my curls. Over the course of ~ a year we were able to even grow out my hair( which was my ultimate goal!) Nicole has also made it impossible for me to get my eyebrows done anywhere else cause they're never quite as good as they are at Bang Salon. I'm so glad I found this salon! Pros: I thought this was just the cutest little shop. Nicole did the best she could with taking the first step in transitioning my hair from red to blonde without much breakage. She also gave a great haircut and I'm very pleased with the shape. Cons: She was rather rough with my head and hair, whether that be with her nails or with the comb she was working with. Maybe I'm just a sensitive scalp, but I've never had an issue with yanking or scratching in any other hair appointment I've been to. The main bummer is that my sweater got a good deal of bleach on the back of it- I'm not sure how, since I was wearing a cape and a towel around my neck. I've never had bleach or dye get on my clothes in an appointment before, but this sweater is unfortunately a goner. read more

I ended up trying Bang salon because I was going up north and wanted to have a blowout and shampoo. My regular salon had no openings. Lucas did an amazing job. Absolutely LOVED Lyndsy! I walked in with the vague certainty that I wanted a rose gold ombré. I was nervous coming in because the past times I've colored my hair, the stylists weren't great at communicating their intentions and assuaging my concerns. Lyndsy walked me through everything. She really made sure that we were always on the same page with the cut and the color, and I felt super comfortable with her. Afterwards she went over how to care for the color, made some sweet recommendations for color conditioner and provided some great advice based off expertise for what products to look for. She even offered to stay in touch via email if I had any questions about what products or colors to purchase! I've been going to the same Korean hair salon in NYC for over a decade. The last time I went to a different barber and requested an under-cut, I got a mushroom cut, so I've been avoiding going anywhere else.... ...until this week. I didn't get a chance to get a haircut prior to my visit to Madison, and I was beginning to look a bit caveman-ey. I decided to bite the bullet. To my surprise, I got a great haircut here! After just this week going and getting another cut I have to point out that I got a GREAT CUT at this salon. Probably the BEST cut I've ever gotten. I have never had someone as good with working with my hair and finding a flattering cut that works for me. In fact it is SO GOOD I am very (very!) strongly considering using airline miles to fly in from DC, uber to the salon, and fly back. That's how good this cut was. My original review below was written the day of cut but this cut was really wonderful and grew out well. It lasted about 6 weeks which is on par for short hair (and mine is curly which makes it even worse). I would not hesitate to recommend this salon - the best one I've ever been too for ladies who know how to cut your hair based on YOUR HAIR and how it best makes your hair compliment your overall looks. Original review: I was nervous about going because I had a cut elsewhere in December which was bad and it was finally long enough to get a good style. I needn't have worried. What a great find. The family moved here a few years ago from the hair stylist capital of America, Minneapolis, and frankly had a bit of a hard time finding a salon we liked. Bang is it. My wife, high school daughter and I all see Nicole and we think she's awesome (though I should lie because now I'll never get an appt). Think about that for a second, mom, teenage daughter and dad all feel the same way about something like hair, that says a lot. The service is amazing, really nice space, nice product lines but zero pressure to buy stuff, and they have great taste in music, which is a bonus since you're sort of trapped under a cape for awhile! Funky place, it's kind of like getting your hair cut on a Harry Potter set because they're down an alley in Lakeside, right alongside a totally vintage old bank turned pet supply shop, look for the giant BANG sign and follow the footsteps! Oh, and bonus, the pet place is also really cool, stop by on your way out and pet the cats! Now that's a spa day! read more

Very inexperienced. Didn't listen to what I wanted. Very impersonal and I have to get my hair cut into a pixie due to their mistakes. They won't refund my money because they want to fix my damaged destroyed by bleach hair?! Very very disappointed. I was expecting better from the reviews. I had middle of the neck length hair. It was bleached and brassy from not getting toned and my roots were grown out. I tell lyndsy that I have extremely damaged hair and just want my roots touched up and tone it. She didn't listen. She pulled the highlights through then painted the bleach all over after 20 minutes processing!! I tell her that I didn't want my hair cut wet. I explained my hair dries really weird and it never turns out. She didn't listen. After she dried it she said "oh you're not kidding" so then we had to go shorter. She razored my hair and when I said I wanted a small part of the side of my head shaved she said no. I had to ask her multiple times until she finally razored it. She toned my hair with a red brown at the roots to make it look like roots?!?! When it was wet it felt like mush. She combed it and the hair just piled on the comb. I left feeling uncertain. I woke up the next morning and the whole top layer of my hair was broken off causing a dent in my hair!!!! I explained this to them but they refused to refund my money and she continued to argue saying that it felt fine yesterday and she had another stylist agree.... I'm so unhappy. I can't stop crying. Now I have to cut it into a pixie. Totally disappointed. Also she charged me she charged me 215.00 for my hair to be destroyed and not what I wanted. I thought I'd found my new stylist but my last visit has left me questioning the value of the service. I booked my appointment online and when I arrived, Lyndsy was already closing the register and said that I was 15 minutes late for my appointment. I thought I'd booked for a later time and I was arriving early! I had the choice of rescheduling or else getting a haircut sans shampooing. I choose the latter. Within 15 minutes, I was out of there (also forgoing the hand massage at the end). I still paid $55 for the time and cut, but months after the haircut, it still bothers me that I paid that much. read more

When I got a referral to Bang Salon from a co-worker I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. Jennifer was so sweet and kind and attentive. Was patient and knew just what to do with my long, not-so luscious locks.
