Unfriendly, I didn't even stepped in the store when she asked me "May I help you" in a rude tone and she proceeded to tell me she was too busy and could not take my dress. This interaction made me very uncomfortable and I will not be back. I would not recommend this place. read more

Look no further, this is where you should take your dress. I did an obsessive amount of research when looking for someone to alter my wedding dress. I read countless reviews and I decided to go with Jules and I'm so glad I did. She is a true professional. She made alterations to my dress that I wouldn't have even known to make but the results were unreal. It looks like it was made for me. She also had to take apart the dress bodice in order to do it - which is something that very few places do and do well. She is such a pleasure to work with - high energy, on the ball, genuine. I could've hung out with her all day! read more

What a wonderful woman! I was in such a hurry to find somewhere that could just charge me to take my measurements for my outfit for my friends Diwali. They use different measurements than American clothes/dresses, and she knew exactly how to adjust the numbers and what they would need. She not only stopped what she was doing to help me, but was extremely friendly and accommodating! I was in such a hurry as well and appreciate everything she did for me! I would DEFINITELY recommend this wonderful woman that loves her craft, and will absolutely be using her in the future! read more

Jules was incredibly responsive and flexible when I messaged her about dress alterations for my mom and sister (mother of bride and maid of honor). They spoke very highly of her service and skill. Thank you, Jules, for all you do!!! read more

We needed serious alterations to a wedding gown ASAP and took a chance on Jules Joyner based on two five star reviews. Look no further for dressmaking at its best! Jules basically took the dress apart and put it back together. The bride also had two special requests - create a bow for the back of the dress and make some lace covers for her hands. Jules told our bride that she can do anything and she certainly did come through for us! In less than two weeks Jules reconstructed a gown, sewed a hairclip to the veil, created a beautiful bow and made lace hand covers. We were running late for an appointment one day but Jules was so cool about it 'I 'll be here when you get here' - great attitude and so supportive of her clients. Cost of the work Jules did in two weeks is truly priceless in relation to our needs. She is moderately priced for the amount of work she does because she truly loves her work and values her clients. LOOK NO FURTHER! You won't be disappointed :-) read more

I went in to get my bridesmaid dress altered and let me first start off with the back entrance??? It felt so magical and it was so pretty just to walk into, it was such a welcoming environment right off the bat. And Jules is just such a sweet person. If you have anything you need altered I highly recommend this shop!! Jules and her shop have the best vibe as soon as you walk in and i can tell how much she takes pride in and cares about her work and clients. If you need a place in or near SCS Jules is your girl to go to!!! read more

This is such an amazing place. The space is so beautiful and peaceful. Jules is so amazing at her art. I couldn't be happier with my experience there read more

I was looking up local alteration companies and this came up with great reviews on service, satisfaction etc. with Saturday hours until 6pm. I walked in on Saturday to see if cups or pads could be placed in a dress. She seemed annoyed that I walked in and suggested that I make an appointment. She asked me to show her the dress so I showed her the dress and she said since there was no structure she couldn't put cups in the dress. Understandable....But how about is there anything else I can help you with??? A smile? Thank you for coming in. I had 2 other items in my hand that needed alterations and she didn't even ask. I just left the store. Customer service isn't what is use to be. Very disappointed especially with the good Yelp reviews she received. Thought I was going to a good place. read more

A+++ Jules Joyner Designs saved the day with my wedding dress. Purchased my dress from another local store in GP (boutique bellissima) who was supposed to do the alterations, but in short- they didn't do a very good job putting on the belt (it looked like I tried to put it on- and well, I'm no seamstress)- and they wanted to charge and arm and a leg to do the hemming (which wasn't told to us originally). I'll be writing my own review on them- wouldn't go back there again. Back to Jules- I was only in town for the weekend so timing was of the essence. My mom had called Jules last minute to see if she could do the hem on my dress in one day. Sure enough! I felt like she was a fairy godmother helping out. She not only did the hem (and re-did the mess up from the shop), but she's meticulous and did a fabulous job! For the price of what the other place was charging, she did my dress, my moms and my sister's (maid of honor) dress for the same amt. Don't even look anywhere else, come here and give a local store owner your business! Can't say enough about her- 5 star, A+, friendly, fun- understands her client's needs 150%! Amen! read more

I called to set up an appointment to get a bridesmaid dress altered (basic hemline and straps). The wedding is in 3 weeks, and I was told by the employee on the phone that my "timing was terrible" and that hopefully my "schedule is flexible." I've used other establishments that have rebuilt dresses for me in that amount of time, and the tone that was used by the employee was not the type of service I support. I understand that they may have several other orders to complete, but it is not okay to talk down to potential clients before you even know what the situation is. I was excited to give them a call after the positive reviews I read (including those who required services "last minute"), but this is not the courtesy that I received. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Jules is a true professional. I had my dress fixed in just two weeks before the wedding day (a dress I brought from my country with a lot of length and size problem) she did an amazing job and beside it she made my pretty hand pieces and an extra bow for my dress just in time. She is a really fun person to work with and very very helpful and the piece is really reasonable for a great work she has done. I really recommend her if you want your wedding day to be the biggest day for you! read more

Was so quick and amazing for my wedding dress! She hit the nail on the head after just one fitting!

Jules is an absolute MIRACLE WORKER! My dress was super intricate and while she didn't make it for me, it felt like she did. I ended up in a bit of a time crunch to get my alterations done and thankfully Jules was able to squeeze me into her busy schedule (and then take it in AGAIN a week before the wedding after already having worked on it). She made my dress fit like a glove and I heard a TON of compliments on how great it looked. I could not have asked for a better experience and looking back, this was probably the best money I spent on my wedding. So, so, so happy with this choice! read more

I live locally and was looking to get a bustle put in my wedding dress. This was the first place I called because I saw such great reviews on google. I've never been treated so rudely over the phone in my life. After telling her I only needed the bustle put in my dress she goes "in your opinion" then she asked what my schedule was like but before I could answer she told me (very rudely!!) they were all booked up for the week. Every question I asked she sighed like she was annoyed that I wanted to spend my money at her shop. I refuse to be treated poorly when all I want to do is be a paying customer. So I went elsewhere. read more

Jules is a tenacious little energizer bunny that does it all herself. She did an absolutely wonderful job on the alterations needed on my Goddaughter's wedding dress. She has a designer's eye and the talent to go with it. Leave the dress with her and trust you will not be disappointed. Thanks you Jules for working with Kristen's ideas and delivering a beautiful dress!! read more

Jules is a lifesaver. Or a wedding saver at the least. She took what was supposed to be my dream dress and turned it into the most amazing gown ever. Unfortunately, when I ordered the dress, it arrived with the wrong color lining. She graciously and meticulously took the dress apart and replaced the lining with the proper color. She made sure it was perfect. It was gorgeous! Thank you Jules!! read more

I just picked up my wedding gown from Jules. It is absolutely perfect. Her work is impeccable and her attention to detail is phenomenal. She added straps to my dress. She found this gorgeous fabric that probably would have been pretty on its own. However, Jules went the extra mile and incorporated beading from my dress to make the straps look like they were originally there, not added on. She not only met every single wish I made on the dress but she vastly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend her. On top of everything else, she's a lot of fun to work with. I will definitely go back. The pricing is super reasonable as well. My mom had her dress altered as well and it now fits perfectly. read more

Jules was a pure godsend from the beginning. I bought my dress in New York and really went back and forth on flying to New York for alternations or finding someone I trusted locally in Detroit. Thank goodness I found Jules! From the minute I met her I knew she had my back and was going to take great care of me and my dress. I loved going to her shop because she is so incredibly fun and she makes you feel so good about yourself. My dress looked absolutely perfect for my wedding and the handmade veil that Jules created for me was the icing on the cake. I will recommend Jules over and over again! Thank you thank you thank you, Jules! read more

Jules did an amazing job modifying my sample dress to fit me perfectly (which was about 12 sizes too big). She was an absolute pleasure to work with - so nice, understanding of 'bride brain', flexible and available at late hours and on the weekend which was great with my work schedule. Her price was extremely affordable given the amount of work she put into the dress and the number of visits I made. I will highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!!! I'm sad I don't get to see her anymore now that my dress is completely altered :D read more

Jules did a great job altering my Alfred Angelo wedding dress. She is real nice and honest. Her prices are reasonable and her shop is super cute. I will definitely use her in the future and highly recommend her. read more

AMAZING! I found Joyce on Yelp when I was in a panic because a chain bridal store ordered my dress in a size that wouldn't fit across my chest. She got me in that day and was able to give me a "critical inch" that made my dress fit perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend Joyce for any of your alterations. Awesome job! read more

Jules is incredibly talented and was able to take a dress that was too large and make it fit as if it was custom made for me. Additionally, she was able take apart and rebuild the bodice, which another seamstress told me was impossible. The end result after 3 fittings was flawless and extremely fairly priced. read more

Love, love, love the alterations Jules made to my wedding gown! Her work on the lace bodice was unnoticeable and it fit like a glove. I couldn't be more excited for my big day - thanks, Jules!! read more

I was very busy the 2 weeks previous to my bachelorette party, and ended up shopping the day before for my dress at Sommerset. I found the perfect dress, but it needed to be taken in a little around the bust. I wasn't going to buy it unless I could find someone to do it last minute. (I moved less than a year ago to the east side didn't know a seamstress nearby yet.) I literally sat down in the mall and went online on my cell phone and called a few places who said they couldn't do it so last minute. Finally I found the shop's number and Jules said she could do it for me! When I arrived, and met Jules in person, she was the sweetest person ever! Very bubbly, and made me feel like we'd been friends a long time. In fact, one of her customers came in as I was trying on my dress for her, and asked how long we'd know each other! Well, Jules had it done for me by the next morning and the dress fit me PERFECTLY! I will most definitely be going back for future alterations, and would recommend her in a heartbeat! read more

Jules is a rockstar. I was looking for someone to create a velvet dress for my January wedding. I showed her 3 random pictures of the "basic shape" I wanted and didn't give her a lot of other direction. 2 appointments later and I was standing in the most gorgeous velvet gown! It fit like a glove, moved with me and was better than anything I could have dreamed up myself. It was simple and stunning, sexy and classy. She is very easy to work with, responsive and flexible. And truly an expert in the field. read more
