Paid $15 for a cup full of foam. Lucy the owner was very RUDE. I tried to smile and be nice but she was still rude. She clearly does not understand that the people who are buying from her and being treated like they bother her are the people who pay her bills at the end of the day. A little smile would make people want to come back. Not only is she rude to the customers but she is also rude to the people that work for her. She claims that her stuff is organic but nowhere do you see anything that said organic. All her fruits and vegetables are in the back cut up. Sadly didn't have a great experience with Juicey Lucy's today at the Farmers Market in the DMV parking lot. I decided to buy a green juice and there wasn't any signage listing the pricing or options. I should have asked before ordering, but was surprised when she rang me up for $17 for a small (12oz) jar of juice. The juice is fine, but it was sweeter than I prefer my green juice to be and honestly at $20 with tip it really didn't feel worth it to me. I always want to support small businesses but this price point is excessive for the small size and it rubs me the wrong way that they aren't more transparent about their pricing. read more

Lucy is EXTREMELY RUDE!!! She lacks communication and compassion. She doesn't care about her customers. My boyfriend and I purchased a one day juice cleanse from Groupon. We picked it up from the Noe Valley farmers market on Saturday between the times she told us to. I showed the vouchers to the girl at the register and she said three of the juices were not made yet and they would work them in with the other juice orders, so it would take about 20 minutes. We said okay and waited. About 10-15 minutes later, another lady called us. I think she was Lucy. She said in a rude tone that we needed to drink our first juices. I asked her which was which one since I ordered mine without apples. She said since I didn't specifically say no apples that they made them with apples. Odd since I put in the order and my boyfriends said with apples. Also, mine said mild cayenne and ginger. BUT there was no differentiation. She said she would remake them, in the RUDEST tone ever! I said no since we were already waiting and it didn't seem like they were working on our last three in with the other orders. 40 minutes go by and still none of the last three she owed us were made. My boyfriend had to go up to her, since I was supper pissed at how rude she was. She never apologized and finally after we said something started to work on the last three she owed us. I would never try her juices again and do not recommend her. If you want a rude stuck up person who doesn't care about customers or communication, then go to her. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Juicy Lucy today. Not only did I not get what I paid for but I was treated poorly from start to finish. I think that in general the groupon I purchased was very misleading. The picture shows large juices in glass jars. I was given a small 12oz plastic cup with some juice in it. Upon inquiry I received a rude response from the worker. Apparently if I want a glass jar it would be $5 extra. In addition they had run out of large size plastic cups so I was given the smaller cup. No one informed me that they were out of the larger cup until I asked about why my juice was so small. I will not be patronizing Juicy Lucy ever again. They were very disrespectful and rude to me. Now that I have read some of the reviews below I feel better knowing that she does not discriminate...and she is rude to everyone! I have the same experience as Tone, Chaz and Denise and many others. I can't tell if the owner is too dumb to understand the basic rules of Groupon or if she is unethical. My story starts out the same as many others below. Then, when I tried to explain the simple logic to her (No, I don't want two juices, just one for $10 - my Groupon is expired and I already paid the $10 - so now it's like a gift certificate - do you understand?...), she started making up her own Groupon rules that made no sense. It was so frustrating. My husband and a couple of others were looking at her in disbelief but I didn't want to make a scene so I bought the second juice. When I take a close look at her and the scene over there, I think it's mostly stupid and a little bit unethical. I mean, the owner doesn't know how to spell Juicy! She named her business Juicey - which is not a real word. What the hell?? Hahahah! You gotta wonder where the screws are loose. With respect to the juice, it is a B, maybe B+. But with so many other businesses (Juice Shop, Living Greens, etc) making incredible juice without the attitude, I vowed to never give my business to JL again. Also, the business is really disorganized. No matter what Farmers Market they are at, they are always forgetting someone's order, screaming out someone's name chaotically and then realizing that person already got their order, etc, etc. The last two times I have gone there, they just left my husband's juice cup (empty) at the front of the table and then his juice got moved to the back of the queue - which meant waiting for another 10 minutes. I had just left the dentist right next door and was dehydrated and not quite ready for solid foods. So I though I'd give Juicy Lucy's a shot. I proceeded to pay $7 for a warm "smoothie" that for whatever reason they serve in a bowl. So I asked if they had any straws and I was condescendingly told "Juice is meant to be sipped!" What the crap? When I told her I'd just come from the dentist, she then strongly suggested I drink some wheatgrass juice for the 15th time since I'd walked in. Juicey Lucy wouldn't honor the paid value of my expired Groupon ($10 for 2 large juices) unless I bought a second juice. Groupon rules clearly state that "the amount paid will never expire and may be applied toward ANY good or service offered by the merchant if the promotion is no longer available". That means I should be able to apply the $10 I paid to a single large-sized juice if I want (or anything else on the menu). Holding a customer's $10 payment hostage & coercing them to pay another $10 for a second juice is unconscionable. Why not agree to swap the $10 paid value for a $10 juice when Lucy is NOT losing any money by doing so?!? On the other hand, maybe Lucy is thinking about the $10 she's not charging, hence would "lose", on the second juice? By insisting that a customer buy a second juice, she is losing exponential cups of juice in the future - so short-sighted! From now on, I'll be getting my juice without a side of attitude, negativity and lectures about straws and cup lids! Angry juice kinda defeats the purpose of juicing in the first place, doesn't it? Miss Lucy - Don't bother with the copy-and-paste response you gave Denise C. and Chaz N. It doesn't matter whether you think you're right when you have disappointed and downright pissed off customers on your hands. Focus on doing the RIGHT thing instead of trying to be right. I used by 2 for $10 Groupon yesterday just to try her stand out since I always see it on Sundays at the Nopa Farmer's Market. Now the Diva Special was delicious! Persimmon, apple, orange and a little bit of ginger. I was impressed. The Mona Lisa with beets and other veggies was not so good. Maybe I don't really like veggie juice. No need to try this one again. I thought it was strange that they had to-go cups with tops for straws. When I asked for a straw I was told they were green and got some snooty remark about straws. Juicey Lucy is now a permanent tenant, if I heard it correctly from owner Lisa Bach, inside the Island Earth Farmer's Market (per the website, Wednesdays through Sundays only). JL used to have a storefront somewhere else, on Columbus I believe, and then closed. Since then, JL has been doing farmers markets and luckily has set up mini shop again inside the Metreon. Although Island Earth's 2 star experience overall was quite dismal, paired with a 2 star flying falafel that lost its wing$ quite quickly during flight, the Joo Loo actually made my day and was the final saving grace to the whole ordeal of IE and the Metreon. So Joo Loo's drink menu is split into two categories. One is a mixed fruit (and a little veg) experience, and the other is mostly veg. The menu is actually not on the website, and changes seasonally for good reason due to availability and freshness of all organic ingredients. I had a sample of one of the veggie juices, and let's just say it was a bitter strong brew that wired me up more than Jamba Juice's or SF Ferry Plaza Building Farmers Market vendor wheatgrass (aka the yucky stuff but I hear helps with clearing out poo poo pipe cloggage and does other wonderful things to your body you don't know about). Now given that Joo Loo is inside the Met and IE, plus the fact that organic ingredients are not exactly a dime a dozen, a cuppa Joo is not cheap. The small is a whopping $7 (about the size of a double coffee or ahem tall Bar$tuck$ crappaccino), with a larger cup at a whooping President Jackson. Or you can purchase one of Joo Loo's jars for $12 that you can re-use. Also bear in mind that most organic ingredients in their raw form do not typically look like their human counterparts e.g. Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry, Taye Diggs, Megan Fox, and are your typical roadside cockroach fugly bits, but of course healthy and delicious as hell. This also tran$late$ into mixed liquid form. Fuglier than a Jamba Juice, but even more natural and better for you fo sho. I had a small cup of the Ambrosia, which had mostly fruit (and if I remember correctly, strawberries, peaches, orange, plus 3 other fruits, a hint of ginger and mint which provided a little kick). I had a Groupon for 2 large juices, and went to the Divis Farmer's Market to redeem. I was told that I had to order 1 fruit and 1 veggie juice. I did not want a fruit juice, which is more like a smoothie. Nowhere in the Groupon does it say the juices are limited to ONE fruit and ONE veggie. I wasn't feeling combative so I got one of each, even though I really wanted 2 veggie juices. The woman who took my order was a little grumpy, but maybe that's b/c she saw my Groupon, and it looks like they've had tons of issues with Groupon. Juices themselves were good. Minus 1 star for enforcing a Groupon rule that was never stated on the Groupon, minus .5 stars for meh customer service and minus .5 stars for the price ($7 seems steep - you can get a juice at Plant or Herbivore for $6). read more

Let's see... for the exact same amount (in Oz.) of organic freshly squeezed juice at multiple retail establishments you will pay about 10-12$ vs Lucy's 28-35$ One of these establishments has been around for just about long as a walk up stand in the Mission. So Lucy pays nothing for packaging, far less for taxes, considerably less rent, probably no insurance for any management level jobs, and far less in actual living wage labor. Just what the world needs is more greed masked as healthy intention, all because people will pay. How is it I can buy 3 to 4 times the amount of raw fresh fruit and veggies (in lbs.) at the same market for about $20? Move over Boomer and quite taking so much from the community around you, and pretending to be a small wholesome business that's making the world healthy. read more

I attempted the Juice Cleanse here, and was disappointed. I have done juice fasts in the past and have been very successful. Here, I drank the first drink of the cleanse (some sort of beet concoction), and puked. I am not even kidding. On top of this, I am practically a vegetarian and eat VERY healthily, so my getting sick was not me going into some sort of health shock. Despite what some Yelpers say, I hate to be negative. (both of them) The way I was treated, however, is a different story. I rode my scooter to the farmers market with full intention of enjoying my juices over the next few hours. When I asked for a jar, they said that will be $5 dollars. I did not argue, but it is pretty deceiving when you see the jars on the Groupon advertisement. I have yet to try their juice but am very happy with the customer service I have received from Juicey Lucy and their staff. We first heard of Juicey Lucy through GiltCity and decided to do a 5 day juice detox with and without the food. However, it slipped our minds to order through Gilt, so although Gilt could not let us purchase any more vouchers, I believe I spoke with Lucy and she gladly honored the introductory Gilt price for us! She was very nice and even called back to remind us to put in our orders before so she could invoice us and put us down for 2 weeks later. TIPS: If you are going to do the juice&food, they have certain times they are going to have it available so call ahead. They also offer 1 day cleanses! We had already tried the LivingGreensSF 3 day cleanse, which when I mentioned to her, she said they are totally different so I'm excited to see how so! Will update on the quality and taste of the juices. NAYS: Bummer they only deliver in the SF area or else it's $4/mi - imagine a $120 delivery charge each day! True to its name, Juicy Lucy's has great juice drinks. Everything is made fresh here from organic ingredients. Great raw food - salads, juice, etc. The place is small and "cozy", and the owner, "Lucy" (her real name is like Lisa or something) is very friendly. The place has a kind of hippy aura to it, as if it were lifted directly from Bolinas or someplace... The only drawback is that there always seem to be those weird tiny little flying bugs inside. I call them "doorway bugs" but I don't know what they are really. You see them around produce a lot. I don't know what can be done to get rid of them but I sure wish she'd get a big fan or something to discourage the little critters.... read more

Hi, As someone who really values quality, I have to say I've never had better juice than Juicey Lucy's (and I've tried alot of juice). When I stumbled upon their stand at my farmer's market, I knew I'd found something really special. Their juice is alive. Drinking it will give you beautiful skin, tons of energy, and a flat toned stomach. No other juice I've tried even comes close. And Claire is the most knowledgeable, friendly person who answers all your questions and advises you - a true expert on cleansing, etc. I see some negative reviews based on a Groupon offer which is sad because it overshadows what I think Yelpers want to know: this is the best @$&ing juice ever!!!! read more

Thanks to Tour de Fat for letting me in on a juice kick. Juicey Lucy was a vendor at the festival last weekend and the juices were the best I've had in the city. Way better than Pressed, the Juice Shop and The Plant Cafe. (Combined!) I tried two of the pure veggie juices and my fave was the Moroccan Sunset. I love how they follow the rules of "food combining" and don't mix veggies and fruit together in one juice. That's what other juice shops are doing wrong because none of them taste this good! I redeemed my Groupon at Juicey Lucy's at the Saturday NOPA market, and I loved the Liver Cleanse and Vegetable Vitality (not sure I remember the name correctly) I got. I just wish I had ordered the Persimmon Date shake they were offering. I'll have to go back to try that. The line was quite long - waited over 10 minutes, but I was pleased to see how much care went into each juice or smoothie. They were also offering a wrap and breakfast bowl, so I'm excited to try that. I would love to do the cleanses one day, though they are *really* expensive. The idea of the juice truck dispensing fresh, delicious juice is wonderful, but I wish there were more affordable options. Lisa is caring and knowledgeable. I had a different customer service experience than many others on here reviewing when I went to juicey Lucys. I, too.. was a little bummed about what I had read about how you can only purchase 1 veggie drink and the other had to be fruit with the groupon... when she mentioned it to me I asked her if i could just give her a few extra dollars to get 2 veggies. It would have been frustrating because i rarely drink juice so i had no use for it.. and the groupon doesnt say that in the fine print. But the owner said it was okay and gave me the two veggie drinks and said it was a 1 time thing. I appreciated that. The 5 stars is solely for the customer service... honestly i wasnt thrilled with my drinks.. id give them a 3.5 for that. i got 2 of the same drink (alkaline) and 1 was pretty darn spicy.. like they had used cayenne in a drink prior (vampira?) to preparing mines and didnt run water through it (like.. when it settled it was sorta reddish.. it had a KICK. what if i couldnt tolerate spice..?) i wasnt upset.. i could probably use the cayenne cus i was about to begin a 3 day cleanse... it just wasnt what i ordered and i wasnt expecting it.. The Tempeh sandwich is among the best in town. Great stop for vegans and vegeterians alike. My girlfriend loved the tofu sandwich. The wheatgrass shots are SUPER tasty. The food is always worth the wait. Basically, if you are expecting something like a restaurant you've been to before, you should go there. Go to Lucy's if you want something DIFFERENT. It might take more time. They might not waste valuable cooling energy on giving you an ice-cold smoothy. It doesn't matter because the food is better than ANYTHING in the area for us vegans who eat more than potato chips, veggie burgers, and soda. If you like being served by "hippies", enjoy watching someone cut fresh, growing wheat grass just before extracting your shot from it and don't mind giving someone the time to prepare a meal just for you....you will not be disappointed. This place should be treasured, revered, and hugged - the first time I came by I wanted something like apple with carrot. She suggested that I should really try some kale since it was fresh, some lemon since she got it that morning from her favorite farm, and some more ingredients.... YUM!! Going to Juicey Lucy's on Sunday at the NOPA farmer's market is is one of my favorite things to do. The Moroccan Sunset is my favorite and the broths she has on cold days is a warm treat. I go to the Mission Bay Farmer's Market to get their wonderful Mona Lisa juice, which you can alter in any way you'd like to! Kat and Andy are very helpful and friendly. That motivates me to come to work each Wednesday just to get their juice! Seriously--it is a pain in the butt to commute to Mission Bay San Francisco from up near Pinole/Vallejo just for work...so it better well be worth it! And it is!! Juices can be on the pricey side, BUT if you bring your own jar (I bring a 32 oz Mason jar, and ask them to fill it to 16 oz), it is markedly cheaper. And you get to chat with very friendly people and watch them juice it right there and then! Want a bit of turmeric? No prob! They'll add it in. Want some extra kale? More greens? No prob! (Except sometimes orange juice causes indigestion with big leafy greens, I was advised today...see, customized juice advice!) Will be coming back each week. Thank you for convenient juicing! And for those of you not obsessed with juicing: I like that they juice it right in front of me, because juice composition (i.e. antioxidants, and other molecular structures) will start to disintegrate minutes after being juiced! (Unless you have a slow, cold-press, masticating, magnetic juicer, you can't leave it for a day or two and have it be fine.) When I see juices at the store with expiration dates of a month...I just don't believe it has the potency of fresh juice. Sometimes they even water down the juice in the store-bought juices. Wow. OMG. So good!!! The best!!! I have been getting fresh seasonal juice from Juicy Lucy's for a very long time. Every Saturday I wake up and look forward to going to the Noe Valley Farmer's market to buy my weekly produce from really lovely farmers and purveyors. I especially look forward to my fresh juice made by Juicy Lucy's dedicated owner Lisa and her crew. Lisa uses seasonal produce often picked hours before from the growers at the market which makes her juices beyond fresh and always customizes one for me because there are certain greens that I can't eat. Lisa is always there caring for her business hands on and her sparkly energy infuses all that she puts forth and makes her juice pretty exceptional and of the highest quality. Today's was sooooo great and I still feel energized and happy from it. She sells glass jars that she welcomes you to use and bring back the following week to refill. The entire week had been cloudy, I was really starting to get a little depressed. Plus, the night before I drank way too much and threw up all over myself at a friend's house. But the day I walked into Juicey Lucy's...it was sunny. One of my friend's and I were both recovering from said night and walked from the TL to North Beach and found tiny lil Juicey Lucy's. I think we both knew that it was the type of place for us. I loved the atmosphere of Juicey Lucy's, it was the most laid back restaurant that I had ever eaten in. The music was perfect as was the quirky furniture. I ordered the Lil Lucy (w/o bananas) to drink and the Tempeh Sandwich. My friend ordered a drink that I can't remember. It did take a while for us to be served, but we were in no rush whatsoever. We actually weren't in the mood to be rushed or put ourselves in the rush. When both really enjoyed our smoothies and the tempeh sandwich was so good that my friend decided to order one for herself. The service was slow, but the server was very warm. The food was great, and my body loved that I was nourishing it with real food! The presentation of the food was really important to our server, which I think also took up time. However, we didn't mind and were just happy to have tasty, healthy food in our system. I would recommend this restaurant to not only vegetarians but anyone who is tired of the same unnatural processed crap that they usually eat (as I was). Definitely go on a slow day, one woman did walk out because it was taking too long to serve food. But our chef/server kept busy the entire time and still made some time to chat. Meh. I've experienced better. I bought a groupon for a 1 day cleanse. They were really pushy about putting me on the calendar even though my coupon didn't expire for awhile. I understand needing to schedule ahead of time, but I feel like they were jumping the gun by assuming days that would work for me & pay the $20 delivery. In the fine print of their delivery fee, they only do curbside drop off, and charge extra for climbing stairs or taking the elevator. I think that's tacky. They also ended up canceling my pick up day because their kitchen was undergoing maintenance. That was a little annoying, but I guess I understand. The juices tasted good and fresh. But you only receive 5 16oz without any additional herbal teas, probiotics or herbal laxatives, or coconut water. Even when drinking lemon water and litres of water with my juices, I was so hungry I drank all 5 before 4pm. I had to go home and make more juice to get me through the rest of the day. That was upsetting. Especially because EVERY OTHER juice place gives you at least 1 more juice plus other supplements to make your day easier. The point of the cleanse is not to starve yourself, and you feel that way on this one. I've done Pressed Juicery (not organic though) and Local Greens -- which is the best one in my opinion and less expensive. They are caring, helpful, and the quality of the product is better. They deliver for free and pick up the empties for free as well. They also give you a menu so you know what you're drinking. When I picked up the juices, the lady was not very warm and when I asked her about the juices she just seemed annoyed I was asking. Never going back and spreading the word that there are better and cheaper options out there. read more

I presented an expired Groupon to Juicey Lucy's today, expecting to utilize the $10 value that I paid for the voucher (which clearly states that the amount paid NEVER EXPIRES) but was rudely turned down from one of the owners. She told me I had to still purchase one juice, in order to get the second free. That was the "only offer" she could give me and told me that "there are 4 different locations" I could have visited and I "should have gotten reminders" to use my Groupon before the expiration date. I refused to pay another dollar more than the $10 that I had ALREADY PAID and walked away from Juicy Lucy's. I've lost all respect for this company which is unfortunate being that I was truly excited to support another local juice establishment. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with the customer service at this place. We bought a Groupon to try this place a while back. Unfortunately it expired and we were well aware of this. We went there and asked if they'd let us redeem it for the full value. Simple question, we weren't expecting them to say "yes", but thought we'd ask anyway. Received a curt no. Ok, cool, we get it, that's fine. So we asked if we could redeem it for the face value at least, which under the rules needs to be allowed. But instead of letting us do that, the lady says that we need to make at least one purchase and then she'll let us use the value of the Groupon towards one juice. That's clearly not what the rule says -- the face of the Groupon reads: "You can always use this Groupon voucher for the amount paid which NEVER EXPIRES". When we tried to remonstrate, she gave us a rude lecture on how there are 4 locations around the city and how they sent out several reminders about the Groupon expiring so there was no excuse for letting it expire. Total BS, because a) no reminders were sent and b) the business owners never send reminders, so she was not even in a position to speculate about that. Bottom line: super rude customer service and definitely not the actions of someone looking for repeat business. read more

I would have given them a 5, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is always wonderful, however I've witnessed horrible customer service from the owner. Line or no line, you don't rush your customer. I had a Groupon and was about to order my 2 drinks, but the young lady nicely informed me that I "had" to get 1-fruit drink and 1-vege. Ok, no problem, I did read my entire Groupon and it didn't state that, but that wasn't my issue. Since I wanted to get 2-fruit drinks instead of 1, I kindly asked what do you suggest, as the young lady started making her suggestion. The owner walks up and rudely says, "there's the menu right there"! That pissed me off since I have actually paid regular price on numerous occasions and was prepared to place an order. After I stated that, " I was only asking for a suggestion, since I couldn't order what I originally planned." She then states that there is a line. Why, yes there is a line, there's always a line and I wait in it like everyone else very patiently. I felt that was very rude and lacking of good customer service. If I'm a paying customer, it doesn't hurt to ask for a suggestion every now and then, especially if I'm forced to get something other than what I had originally planned. On another occasion, a patron had walked up and asked about straws and I heard her give a snotty comment about how they aren't good for you, blah blah blah. Would it hurt to say, I'm sorry but we don't provide straws, then explain if necessary or simply get new tops for the cups. The juices and food are all wonderful! But customer service is everything. Where ever she's from, she needs to leave the attitude there, because how does one expect to get repeat business with a stank attitude. I won't be going back after today! read more

This was my second time trying their smoothies and I really really like the ones I've tried. 5 stars for the amazing and fresh juice they make! -1 for mismanagement - I ordered my juice and waited for 15mins before checking with them if it was ready and it turned out that it was just sitting at the counter! Additionally, the person at the counter didn't ask for my name and during pick up the owner gave me grief about the order not having a name! Just to clarify, I was standing right by the counter and didn't miss them calling for pick up. -2 stars for the attitude the owner threw at me for using my second groupon. It was an honest mistake, I hadn't read the fine print which stated that the 2nd groupon could be used as a gift only. Tried explaining to her in the nicest possible way but she just continued speaking rudely. I was with a friend and I could have easily asked my friend to order for us (instead of me) but I didn't want to ruin my day any further by trying to reason with the rude lady. -1 for bad taste the incident left. read more

I never thought I'd be a firm believer in Juicing but this company completely changed my mind. I have been having stomach pains/ digestive issues for almost a year now. It got so bad a couple weeks back that I went to the emergency room and of course, they found nothing wrong. So, I decided to try the 5 day juice cleanse which was challenging but well worth it. After those 5 days I eased back into food and am feeling like new! It is amazing how much better my system is handling everything. I did a juice cleanse program with Juicey Lucy's and I am addicted! I've been juicing for over a year and have learned a lot from the owner. The ingredients are always fresh and 100% organic. It's worth the price unless you want to buy an expensive juicer that you will have to take time to clean, get all the organic produce, prep and juice fresh each day... if you don't have the time to commit to that, the best the city has to offer is Juicey Lucy's.
